This entry is part 19 of 22 in the series 21 Days to the Manifest Presence of God

Hello! We have made it to Day 20 of this series about living in the manifest presence of God! You can refer back to Day 1 if you’d like to know my backstory for the series.

I encourage you to read all the posts in the series if you are just joining us. Each day’s assignment builds on the previous assignments, and they are all vitally important! (Be sure to subscribe to receive my daily posts so you won’t miss anything.)

Today, we are going to talk about the fact that God likes it when we need Him.

The quest for God’s presence is and should be all-consuming. The good news is that when we seek Him, we will find Him.

The bad news is that we can’t even seek Him by ourselves.

We humans are very needy creatures, and God likes us that way.

When we acknowledge how much we need God, it humbles us.

When we realize that we can’t even seek God without His help, it brings us to our knees.

Which is where we connect deeply with God.

We find God most when we abandon the idea that we can live life on our own.

We find God most when we acknowledge that we need His help to even breathe.

Hebrews 1:3 states that Jesus Christ is “upholding all things by the word of His power.”

Colossians 1:16-18 says, “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

Jesus Christ is the Centrifugal Force of the universe. He is holding you together right now, as you read this.

In John 15:5, Jesus said, “…for without Me you can do nothing.” This means that…

  • So it doesn’t matter how talented a songwriter you are; you need God’s help to write that song.
  • It doesn’t matter how talented a blogger you are; you need God’s help to draft that post.
  • It doesn’t matter how good of a financial analyst I am; I depend daily on God to help me analyze files.
  • And it doesn’t matter how much of a Jesus-seeker you are; you need His help to continue to seek Him.
  • There is nothing that I can do apart from His guidance, His empowerment, His ability flowing through me. Nothing.

And I feel that dependence strongly.

Someone said to me a few months ago, “I’ve learned so much from you! You’re just so strong!” and I was astounded.

Because if they only knew…

  • That I retreat to my office every morning and cry out to God for help getting through my day.
  • That I entreat God to help me with the mundane tasks around the house, like cooking and cleaning, because they overwhelm me. Frequently.
  • That most weekends, I hide out in my home office with the Lord on Saturday mornings because I can’t face the world any longer until Daddy God “makes it all better.”
  • That so often, I have been ready to give up on situations and on people. Only the heart of God and His love flowing through me have kept me hanging in there in prayer until we get results.
  • That I am so imperfect, and I need my God so badly.

But they don’t know. Only my husband and God know. (And now you.)

But it’s ok, because God likes me needy.

He likes you needy, too.

As long as you present your needs to Him and acknowledge that only He can meet them, it pleases Him for you to need help.

So your assignment for today is simple:

Would you acknowledge your dependence on God in everything you do today?

Would you get alone with Him and tell Him about all the things you have to do… all the things that overwhelm you… and admit you can’t do them on your own?

Would you ask for His help, and then let Him help you?

He will meet you at the point of your need.

What’s something you are dealing with right now that you can’t handle on your own? A family issue? A task before you? Too many things on your schedule? Leave a comment and let’s chat!

  1. It’s good to know that we as Christians are a lot alike in our daily lives we all struggle to get answers to things that seem to haunt our very being. I have many questions that I ask God to get help or advice even just wanting an answer. Most of the time the answers come quickly but other times they linger on and on some i have not received answers too yet or maybe I am not to know about it. In the past few years I lost my wife to problems with a cancer that have left me wondering why and other questions. I will admit that I still struggle with these things i try to go ahead with my life but I am sorry to say that I could never replace the love and life we shared together it’s not that I would not like to meet someone to go out to dinner with or a movie but I am not in the market to get married or be involved with someone else to that extent. It’s rather lonely most of the time and I have been told that she would not just want you to quit living. But I won’t go into that cause only the Lord knows your heart and knows the truth of how you feel. So in closing i will keep believing in my lord and savior i will keep trusting him I really know first hand how real he really is if I could tell someone else about it and give them peace of mind and heart about it i will and do. I pray for all the lost souls in the world today and hope that they find the truth and grasp hold of it . God bless you

    1. Paul, I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that the God of all comfort would comfort and encourage you. That He would show you the path to take, step by step, as you move forward. That you would sense His love, Presence, and affection more than ever before, and that He would restore your joy. I pray He would fill you with all peace and hope in believing, and that all things would work out for your good.
Blessings to you, brother. Thank you for reading and also for sharing. We do indeed go through many of the same struggles. I am beyond thankful for the precious Holy Spirit and the people of God who stand beside us in this life. I pray God would bring you covenant friends with whom you can share your life as you walk.

    2. Paul-
I cant really say that I understand but I understand what you are going through. I have lost a brother and grandparents from cancer. My marriage is getting healed very slowly. Yes, you have already told the world that God is holding you up and I am here to say I am right there with you. It does get lonely- due to my marriage issues I can completely understand loneliness and how important it is to lean on God- Im praying for you!!

  2. Ossie copeland says:

I am in need of the Lord to take away the pain I have in my hand and to show me how to build a business

  3. Maria Dimba says:

I pray every day that God opens the door that he once closed. I am divorced and I do not want to remain divorced and I need a man in my life. Someone who fears God and someone who will love God first then me and my family. Also I am about to build my house and I really need Gods help to build it. I do not want to get stuck in between because now the builder has left me or because there is not enough money. I need the intervention of God to bring light in my whole family i.e my family and the families of my three sisters as it is not all of us who are saved by God. There are still those who still believe in ancestors, one of my sisters is a Sangoma ( someone who still believes in alters for slaughtering goats and chickens and all sort of things). I know God hears and God answers.

  4. Lord I need you desperately. I need you to think right, believe right, speak right and live right. Lord please preserve my life and comfort me for your glory. God, I need help!!! Amen

  5. Kim A.Hill says:

Kim says: I to need you desperately Lord.To live right ,to have the mind & heart of Christ.I need you Lord to continue on this journey.Every hour, every minute, every second.I need thee Lord.My Savior!
