I’m so excited about Day 7! Today, we’re going to start talking about one of the things I cherish most in my life. Are you ready?

Day 7: A Place for You and God to Meet

God is with you all the time. But sometimes you and He need to get away from the daily rush. You need to have time together, all by yourselves.

It’s just like marriage. You can live everyday life with your spouse. That’s what marriage is all about. But sometimes you need the icing on the cake: a date night where you two can be alone together.  On a date night, you can talk about serious stuff. You can have fun. Whatever. But that time together–just the two of you–is essential to a marriage. It’s special, and it fuels your relationship.

Your relationship with God needs fueling too. God longs for special time alone with you.

And whether you realize it yet or not, your heart longs to be alone with God, too.

I call this special alone-time “daily quiet time.”

Daily quiet time is when you get alone with God. Just the two of you. It’s when you connect with God and refuel.

    It’s a time when you let the reality of His presence fill you up so that you can start your day full of God’s Spirit and God’s power. {Tweet this!}

And for daily quiet time to happen, you need a place to meet.

Your special place to meet God could be almost anywhere, but it can’t be left to chance.

My special place is in my “office” at home. It’s a spare bedroom where I go to study, play music, paint, scrapbook, and pray.

I like to sit on the floor right behind the door. I wrap up in a blanket or three and get cozy. I have my Bible, books, journal, pen, highlighter, and concordance laying out around me. Everything is within easy reach, and I can sit there and study or pray for as long as time allows.

I can feel God’s presence when I’m sitting in that spot more than I can anywhere else.

It’s easier to pray in that spot than it is in any other place.

My spot is special. It’s my altar. I offer myself to God on a daily basis there.

I meet with God every morning, but even in the evenings, I often feel Him wooing me into our spot. I can feel Him longing for time alone with me.

And as soon as I answer and go through my office door, it’s like He RUNS to meet me. Tears roll down my face as I sense Him hugging me. Then we talk. He speaks to me about what’s on His heart, and I speak to Him about what’s on mine.

It’s our place… and God longs for you the same way.

So here is your assignment for Day 7:

Find a place in your home that will be YOUR place to get alone with God.

It needs to be a place where you can be truly alone, without distractions. It might be the living room when everybody else is asleep. It might be a spare bedroom. You might have to take refuge in your closet.

Wherever it is, your assignment today is to pick out a place that will be a special spot between you and God.

Then tomorrow, we’ll talk about what to do with that spot.

What spot have you picked out to be your special place with God? I’d love to hear about it! Please leave a comment below.

    1. Hi Jamie! We have a spare bedroom upstairs. This is where I come . I call it my “upper room”!

    2. Maria Dimba says:

There is no better place than my bedroom as I am staying with my siblings. It is where I pray most of the time. I sleep alone so no one can disturb me. I simply close the door and talk toGod

    3. Georgina Barboutis says:

My special spot for long times is at the back of my house on the second floor, in a rocking chair, overlooking the neighbours roofs, the tropical trees and the moon. The breeze is soft and I can see all the variety of cloud formations. For shorter times it’s in the bathroom. Every morning when I go to the bathroom, there is a little bird that taps on the window and that quickly reminds me to pray.

    4. I have no such place on mind but gonna find for sure I want to be alone with Him

    5. My special spot is my bedroom. Its where I can always be alone.

    6. Our special place is my bedroom….I rent a room from a friend and thats where I live….

    7. Jowanda Lucas says:

I have a little nook in my bedroom with a favorite old chair, a table to hold my journals, books, pens highlighters. It is surrounded with mementos of from mission trips and church, gifts from prayer warrior friends. Also have sticky stuff so I can put prayers up on the wall. I get up early in the morning before anyone else so I can have peace and quiet.

    8. DONNA CARTER says:

I go in my car ,cause I live in a 1 bedroom and my son lives with me.

    9. My special place is in my room sitting on my bed. My computer is on the table beside me, where my bible and bible study resources are. I’m almost totally blind and I use screen reading technology, so I have all i need on my computer. I also have a prayer chair, a little wooden rocking chair where I sit to pray, free from distractions. It’s in a corner of my room by itself so I can’t get distracted with other things while I’m praying.

thank yoy for this series, i am learning so much and I feel so much closer to god and i talk to him more, which is so great. I even hear from him more than I used to. God is goood!
      god bless.
