First, my take on “Beyond All Dreams” by Elizabeth Camden:
This book is inspirational fiction set in the United States, circa 1897-1898. The heroine, Anna O'Brien, is a map librarian at the Library of Congress in Washington DC.
She happens to come across a strange, very personal secret in her work one day–but no one else seems to be quite as excited about her discovery as she is. Trying to uncover clues leads her only into danger… and possible romance?
Enter the hero, Luke Callahan, a congressman who has fallen into hard times. Anna can help him with his troubles, and he can help her with hers… or can he? Or does he turn against her at the end?
I'm not going to tell you the end, but I will tell you that it's a LOVELY story. It's extremely well-written. The historical period is portrayed with breathtaking detail and realism. The story has the perfect number of twists and turns, red herrings and finally… well, you'll just have to read it. I read it on a weekend trip, and it got dark in the car before I wanted to put it down, so I busted out my flashlight to keep reading. (The husband wouldn't let me turn on the interior car light.) That's how good this book is.
So trust me. If you need a great weekend's entertainment, and you like inspirational, historical fiction, you will love this book. Click here to purchase Beyond All Dreams on Amazon (affiliate link).
The next fiction title I'm reviewing today is “Love Unexpected” by Jody Hedlund.
Suffice it to say, I loved loved loved this book. First, it's set in a lighthouse, and what's not to love about that? Something about lighthouses just speaks to my spirit. (As you can see from the cover of my ebook, “Arise Shine: A Vision Retreat Handbook,” here.) 😉 Secondly, it's such a beautiful story of redemption and love.
“Love Unexpected” is about two people who both believe they have no hope of love: Emma and Patrick. Emma believes she's too homely for marriage. Patrick has a history. But when circumstances force them to marry quickly and unexpectedly, perhaps there's hope after all? But wait. Enter drama, crime, and Patrick's history coming back to haunt him. How will it end up? Ahh, you'll just have to read it to find out.
“Love Unexpected” is a fantastic story. I read it quickly and couldn't put it down. It has tons of surprises and a lovely ending. The cover says it's Book One of a series, and when the lovely Ms. Hedlund comes out with the next books in the series, I plan to run not walk to read them.

Note: I received a free copy of each of these books in exchange for honest reviews. The free copy didn't influence my opinion of either book. I'd pay full price for both of them in a heartbeat. 🙂 And if you really enjoy reading legal mumbo-jumbo, you can delight yourself in my disclosure policy here.
