“Rest” is a word that busy people tend to think of as almost sacrilegious.

I used to be one of those people. Then I experienced hiddenness for the first time.

“Hiddenness” is a season in your life when you haven’t done anything wrong, but you suddenly feel like your antenna is turned off. It’s one of God’s ways to let you practice what you’ve been learning. You get to find out by experience if you will trust God based on His Word, or not.

When I went through hiddenness for the first time, I didn’t pass the test very well. So I got to take that test again, and again, and again over the next several years.

Until I finally decided that I was going to trust God, even when I didn’t see “why” I was going through so much trouble. I didn’t understand. But I decided to trust Him, because He is trustworthy.

Deciding that you’re going to trust God and let Him work on your behalf, no matter how you feel, is called “resting in God.”

God wants you to rest in Him.

Your Father is very good at taking care of you. You are His beloved child. You don’t have to worry and strive all the time to get what He has in store for your future.

It’s true that personal choices are essential in reaching your destiny (Philippians 3:12-15). But there is a difference between making the choices that God wants you to make (that will bring you into your destiny) and striving in your spirit to try to get something.

Making God-ordained choices produces joy, excitement, and flow.

Striving in your spirit produces anguish, worry, hopelessness, and feelings of inadequacy.

Your destiny has already been prepared for you. If you will rest in God and follow Him faithfully, you will achieve it.

First Peter 1:4 in the Amplified Bible says that you were “[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.”

Your inheritance is beyond the reach of change and decay. It’s unsullied and unfading. You are being guarded by God’s power through faith.

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

God has already prepared all the good works of your life. So your job is to rest in Him. (Read Hebrews chapters 1-4 for a full description of how God wants us to rest.)

    Your assignment for Day 17:

    • Identify something in your life that you’ve been striving for and worrying about.
    • Then spend some time with your Heavenly Father today, and give the burden for that thing over to Him. [Matthew 11:28: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”]
    • Ask Him to help you rest in Him, and trust Him.
    • Whenever you think about that thing today, or start to worry, just turn your thoughts toward Him.
    • Thank Him for having already finished that good work in your life. Ask Him to manifest whatever it is that He has already done on your behalf.

    And you will have rest!

Discussion question: What thing is it that you have been worrying about and striving for?

I have two things that have been worrying my mind. The first and the most important one is the safety of my son who is at the university. In this university there are lots of student strikes and according to media its a university of liquor and death in such a way that recently a last yr medical student was stab to death by other students. The second one was for me. I have been single since 2011 and each time I get someone it is always a wrong person and I will end the relationship soon. I spoke to God about these issues He assured me that I must relax He is in control and I am trying to do that specially with my son. I cannot wait for my pay day so that I will start to give tithe in my local church as I now know the blessings that comes with that thereafter plant a seed to you as you are so loving and carrying. Your teachings are a blessings to me. Thank God for directing me to your website.

Shalom Jamie… your materials are amazing. Thank you and bless you in all you do…
I do not have any worries….I go about following the leading of the LORD and I cast every care at the foot of HIS cross and let HIM guide me through this journey called life. I`ve learned that from day one 38 years ago when HE spoke to me from Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Worry in sin because it says we do not trust our LORD enough to care for us.
We are told in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in the LORD at all time and lean not on our own understand. In all our ways we must acknowledge HIM and HE will direct our paths.
Patience in needed at all times.
Worry kills people and then GOD has no place to live because we are HIS temples. It is all hands on deck ..so no worrying saints.
May the presence of our LORD be our constant companion and may HIS correction, directions and protection be your daily portion.
Forever HIS Bonnie*JOY from Canada…we are praying for your country and your President DJ TRUMP.
keep your eyes on the JESUS.Hebrews 12:2
