tattoo interpretation

Today we are continuing our study of God’s symbolic language using tattoo interpretation.

Today’s tattoo photo comes from Miss C, who has Psalm 103:12 tattooed on her back and shoulders.

I want to be very careful with this one because it’s obvious that the most important meaning of this tattoo is the Word of God itself. In other words, the main message of this tattoo is clearly that God has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west.

However, I also believe she sent me this photo for a reason, and that there are additional gems we can glean from this tattoo. Proverbs 25:2 tells us that “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” So, let’s search out what we might learn from this tattoo, shall we? All while keeping the main thing–the verse itself–the main thing. 🙂

The  first thing that sticks out at me with this tattoo is that it’s on Miss C’s back. Your physical back, symbolically, speaks of what you carry. It could also represent authority; you put a mantle –over your back.

The numbers have very specific meanings as well, and the numbers can be put together several different ways.

    The number 1 means “God.”

The number 3 refers to God also; specifically, the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

The number 2 represents multiplication or division.

The number 12 represents government and the Biblical position of the apostle (someone who has spiritual influence over multiple churches and geographic areas; Luke 6:12-13). It also represents walking in the daytime/light (John 11:9).

As stated above, the main message of the tattoo is clearly what it actually says. I can’t stress that enough. But if we put the symbolic meanings of the numbers together, I believe we get an additional encouraging word for Miss C.

    Here’s the in-a-nutshell interpretation:

Miss C, Papa God has been drawing you to Himself. He has removed your sins from you as far as the east is from the west.

Since you belong to Him, He has divided off of you the things that were not from Him. He has made you new. Now He wants to bring multiplication and increase into your life.

Multiplication and increase come when you take authority over your life. Don’t be afraid to walk in the authority God has given you. He has endowed you with authority to govern, just like He gave the apostles authority to govern.

So take your cues from Him. Daddy God is with you always; you can abide in Jesus; and the Holy Spirit dwells inside of you.

Father predicted that His name would be tattooed on your body. (Isaiah 44:5 RSV: “This one will say, ‘I am the Lord’s,’ another will call himself by the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and surname himself by the name of Israel.”) He knows everything about you, and He will perfect everything that concerns you.

I am wasted for how Papa loves to love on His people, aren’t you?

Now it’s Miss C’s turn to let us know if this hits home with her!

    1. Jamie, I am slain by the word God gave you about my tattoo! This is my life verse and I first saw it in Paulette’s book Rooms of Her Heart. It touched me so because at the time I was dealing with the devil telling me I was just this close to going back to who I used to be. I had it put on my back because it was just out of reach and behind me, just where Paulette had told me my sins were, behind me and out of reach. Thank you for your interpretation, I rejoice!
