Pray: “Lord, Fix the Plan!”

Have you ever had an idea from the Lord, but you only got so far–and then you got stuck? If so, this word and short sample prayer–“Lord, fix the plan!”–are for you today!

Sometimes, in life, the Lord has to fix our plans.

The Lord is amazing at showing people the good gifts and good plans He has for them. Whether He wants you to do something, go somewhere, carry a spiritual mantle, or even pray something, He will show you how to do it and what to do.

The problem, from a fleshly perspective, is that we know in part and prophesy in part.

First Corinthians 13:8-13 tells us this:

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:8-13 NKJV, emphasis mine).

When you receive a vision from the Lord, the Lord shows you what you need to know at that time.

Of course, it is always possible to ask Him for more details–but we don’t always know that we need more details. Sometimes, it looks like He has shown us the full, complete plan, vision, dream, assignment, or calling. And so, we proceed in faith, believing God to sustain us and accomplish the thing through us and on our behalf.

But then, roadblocks occur.

Hindrances and obstacles sometimes set in. And we don’t know why. The hindrances and obstacles could simply be spiritual warfare against the vision or assignment, or they could be something else.

In my opinion and experience …

The only way to find out why hindrances and obstacles are happening is to fast and pray.

When you fast and pray, the Lord will often accelerate the vision or assignment. He will break down hindrances and roadblocks–often in one day! He will move suddenly to bring forth the completion and furtherance of your assignment. Your righteous sacrifice of fasting with a right heart brings down the fire and power of God into your situation, and things move.

But sometimes, they don’t.

And when that happens, you have to keep fasting and praying and speaking the Word and believing and doing all that you can, whenever you can, to be faithful to the dream, plan, and vision.

However, after extended times of fasting and praying, and even after repeated times of fasting and praying, if nothing moves …

… Sometimes you have to pray differently.

See, sometimes the Lord shows us that dream, plan, vision, or assignment … but He shows us the thing in part. He shows us whatever it is time for us to know. And He expects us to be faithful to proceed with what we do know.

But, sometimes, He stops us along the way, when we get to a certain point. And it’s not because we did anything wrong, but rather because we don’t have the fullness of the vision yet that we would need to proceed to the next step properly.

So, sometimes, God steps in and puts up His hand to stop the progress until He can show us the new angle, new perspective, or new strategy that He wants us to employ.

When that happens, the key is to pray this:

“Lord, fix the plan!”

See, delays are not always bad. Our flesh thinks of them as bad, but sometimes a delay is simply a pause while the Lord brings all the other components together in the proper timing.

When your plan or vision sees a pause, we have to remember that there are many factors at play. The Lord is considering not only our own circumstances, but also the state of other people’s hearts, fruit, financial effectiveness, and so much more–even impact on nations! The Lord is in charge of all these things, and so we have to trust Him with timing.

But, if you are frustrated with delays, I do believe that it’s time to pray and ask the Lord to fix the plan. If you will ask the Lord to show you any ways in which He wants you to see your situation differently, there’s a chance He might show you an aspect or angle of approach that you never saw before.

I can’t tell you how many times He has done this with me.

But, you know what? It has always been fruitful, and it has always been HIM. And He has always worked it out for my good.

Additionally, if it comforts you, in my experience, it has never been that the original vision was wrong. It has only been that the original vision was incomplete, but that I saw what He needed me to see at the time; and then that He wanted me to change the forward trajectory “now.”

There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, even for not being all-knowing. 🙂

When God shows you a plan, dream, assignment, mantle, calling, or vision, and you steward it and obey it as best you can, it’s totally okay if He changes your angle of approach later. He is not condemning you for it.

If you hadn’t stewarded what He DID give you at first, you wouldn’t have ever gotten to Step B. And God is not mad at you for not knowing that you didn’t have the whole vision yet. After all, He is the One Who gave you the partial vision and told you to move forward with it!

Therefore, don’t beat yourself up for not knowing everything at first. Just know that you are in the hands of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, and that He is the One in charge of the vision that He gave you. But, you do need to be willing to pivot when He shows you a new method or angle of approach.

However, to get there, we still have to ask the Lord to change our perspective if necessary when we encounter hindrances, obstacles, or delays.

Do you want to ask the Lord to “fix the plan” for you today if He needs to? If so, pray something simple like this:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Abba Father, thank You for the amazing vision, dream, and assignment that You have given me. I praise You for your goodness, kindness, and generosity in even letting me participate in something this wonderful.

Father God, You know I have done what I could to obey You and follow the dream that You have spoken to me.

However, we aren’t currently making much/any progress on the dream. I have prayed and fasted and spoken the Word, and still nothing has been moving.

Father, I don’t know if You want me to change my perspective on this vision and dream or not. But, Father, in Jesus’ name, I humbly ask:

• If there is anything about this plan that I’m not seeing, would You show it to me?
• If You want me to change the method or angle of approach that I am using, would You please show me that?
• If You’ve brought us this far, but You want us to do something different for the next steps, would You please show me what to do differently and next?

Father God, Your Word says in Psalm 32:8 that You will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go.

Therefore, Abba, please show me what to do at this point. If these delays have been from You, show me that–and show me what to do differently. Show me the things I haven’t been seeing, and help me to adapt quickly to Your new instructions for this next season that I haven’t been seeing before.

Please give me wisdom, Father. Give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a nose to smell Your fragrance. Help me to walk in lock-step behind Jesus my Shepherd, and let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You in advance for showing me what I need to know to get this vision and dream moving again. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen and amen.”

Beloved, if you ask the Lord to fix your plan, He will. 🙂

Remember not to get into condemnation over it, but rather to simply humble yourself under the Lord’s mighty hand so that, in due time, He can lift you up. He will show you the way to take. And, when He has tried you, you will come forth shining like gold–and His promises over your life are assured!
