Lord, Open Your Armory On My Behalf!

Do you need God to rise up and move in power on your behalf? If so, then you are going to LOVE this prayer for the Lord to open His armory and bring out His weapons to help you!

I was studying Jeremiah recently, and I noticed a passage that I had never paid attention to before. It’s from Jeremiah 50.

In Jeremiah 50, the Lord is prophesying through Jeremiah about the fate of Israel and its surrounding nations.

Specifically, He is telling Jeremiah that He (the Lord) had used the pagan kings of Babylon and Assyria to do His work of disciplining the backsliding Israelites. But, after the Lord was finished having those pagan kings complete His disciplinary mission, He also said He would punish those pagan kings because of their evil lives. They had contended against the Lord, and they would pay for it.

Jeremiah 50:24-25 says this:

“I have laid a snare for you; you have indeed been trapped, O Babylon, and you were not aware; you have been found and also caught, because you have contended against the Lord.

The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans” (Jeremiah 50:24-25 NKJV).

The part that really stood out to me is where the Lord said, “The Lord has opened His armory.”

Think about this: all Scripture is breathed out by God Himself. God was literally the One speaking these words, and Jeremiah was just the guy listening to what God said, and having it recorded, and telling other people about it. But the words themselves are God’s.

As it says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV).

With that said, let’s look specifically at Jeremiah 50:25 again:

“The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans” (Jeremiah 50:25 NKJV).

In this verse, the Lord Himself said that He had opened His armory and brought out the weapons of His indignation.

What is an armory? It’s the place in any military fortification, such as a castle, fort, or even a navy ship) where weapons are stored.

So what is God saying? He’s saying that He has weapons.

And that His weapons are stored in an armory.

But if you look it up in your trusty Strong’s Concordance, the word for “armory” in the Hebrew (Strong’s Hebrew word #214) actually and additionally means not only “armory,” but also depository, cellar, storehouse, and treasure house.

This word is used to talk about weapons, a storehouse of weapons, and a storehouse of treasure.

Wow. That will hit you right between the eyes!

But it gets deeper. When you also look up the word for “has opened” [His armory] in Strong’s Concordance, that word for “opened” literally means to open wide, loosen, break forth, let go free, ungird, and unstop, among other similar words.

That’s pretty deep.

What God is saying here is that He has an armory/storehouse/treasure house of weapons and treasures, and He opened it wide and let the weapons and treasures break forth and become unstopped in order to accomplish His purpose.

Here’s the verse again:

“The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans” (Jeremiah 50:25 NKJV).

Um. Wow. This is pretty amazing.

Here’s how this applies to you and to me:

God had a purpose for Israel that He needed to accomplish in that moment. His purpose was to bring them back to Himself, and He had to discipline them in order to do that.

So, He used His weapons to discipline Israel. His weapons, in this case, were the pagan kings whose hearts He turned like water to do His will, even though they didn’t intentionally serve Him.

But after Israel was disciplined, God said He was also going to accomplish His will regarding those pagan kings–the ones who contended with Him and did not honor Him. So He literally opened His armory / treasure house and brought out the weapons of His indignation to accomplish His will on the earth in regards to those kings.

Well, you know what? God has a will for you too, and His plans for you are to PROSPER you, and not to harm you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ and have made Him your Lord and Savior, then YOU are God’s child. That means you belong to Him, and He loves you. (If you haven’t, I’d run not walk to do so, if I were you. Read how here.)

And if God will open His armory and treasure house and unleash His weapons to accomplish His will for those people back then, don’t you think He will do the same thing for you right now?

Of course He will!

Our Father will open His armory and bring out the weapons of His indignation to fight on your behalf if you ask Him.

What He did to accomplish His will for others, He will also do to accomplish His will for you. The only difference is that you are His child, and the pagan kings of Babylon and Assyria were not.

Therefore, His will for those pagan kings was to destroy and punish them (see Jeremiah 50:26-27, which actually says they would be destroyed utterly and that it was the day of their punishment). They had made themselves God’s enemies.

BUT, you have not made yourself God’s enemy.

YOU have submitted your life to Jesus and have become God’s child. So YOU are now under His protection, and the enemy in your case is the devil, and all the devil’s evil forces. As it says in Ephesians 6:12:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12 NKJV).

So in YOUR case, God will open His armory to defeat the enemy who is attacking you–the devil. And the weapons of God’s indignation will be used against that enemy–the devil–and against all the enemy’s attacks.

God will contend with those who contend with you.

As it says in Isaiah 49:25:

^“But thus says the Lord: ‘Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children’” (Isaiah 49:25 NKJV).

Whew! That’ll preach!

Friend, do you want God to open His armory and bring out the weapons of His indignation on your behalf?

Do you want Him to contend with those who contend with you? Do you want Him to save your children and rescue YOU from anything that currently assails you?

Let’s look at Jeremiah 50:25 one more time to build our faith:

“The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans” (Jeremiah 50:25 NKJV).

And then let’s pray.

Pray this to ask the Lord to open His armory on your behalf:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.

Holy Father, I thank You for bending Your ear to hear my prayer. Thank You that Your eyes are roaming to and fro throughout the earth, seeking the heart that is completely Yours. I confess to You once again today that I am Yours, Lord Jesus. You are everything to me; I have nothing in heaven or on earth but You.

Thank You for saving me, Abba Father. Thank You for sending Your holy Son Jesus to die on the cross for me. And thank You for being so good to me. I praise You, for You are good, and Your mercy endures forever.

Lord God, You see all that is happening to me right now.

You see the enemy attacks that have been loosed against me. You see the nightmares I’ve been going through in my life. But, Your Word says that Your plans for me are good plans: plans to prosper me, and not to harm me; plans to give me hope and a future.

Therefore, Father, in Jesus’ name, I humbly ask You today to open Your armory and bring out the weapons of Your indignation to fight on my behalf:

• Get out Your weapons of every kind, and destroy the works of the adversary in my life.
• Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered! (Psalm 68.) In Jesus’ name, I ask that You would go to war on my behalf. Scatter the enemy and all his evil forces.
• Help me to submit to You in every way, and to resist the devil, so that the devil will flee from me.
• Help me to draw near to You, and You will draw near to me.

Also, I ask humbly in Jesus’ name that You would even dispatch treasures from Your treasure house on my behalf:

• Supply my every need according to Jesus’ riches in glory as I submit to You, and as I give You my tithes and offerings.
• Send teamster angels to deliver huge parcels and packages of blessing to me–blessings that cannot be contained; blessings that are straight from Your treasure house in Heaven.
• Send Your treasures and scatter the foes of lack and scarcity in my life, for You are a God of abundance. You, Jesus, are my Shepherd, and I shall not lack.

Jesus, You said that You came that I may have life, and have it more abundantly. Please open Your armory today and unleash Your weapons on my behalf. Bring blessings of every kind into my life, while you drive out and annihilate every work of darkness and enemy attack on my behalf.

Thank You, Abba Father. Whom have I in Heaven but You?

You are all I have, but You are all I need. Thank You for being the solution to absolutely everything I need in this life. I love You so much, and I bless Your name today. Thank You for fighting on my behalf, and for scattering my enemies.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Friend, this is a simple prayer, but it’s a powerful one as well.

If you ask Him to, the Lord will open His armory on your behalf and bring out the weapons of His indignation. He will rise up and contend with those who contend with you, and you can hold your peace while He fights for you.
