New Season Fast, Day 2: Dream Bigger

Beloved, do you long to see an ongoing pattern of miracles, signs, and wonders in your life? Do you yearn to accomplish things that change the world and the people around you? I hope you do. And if you do, I have another question for you:

What if your dreams were ten times bigger than they are?

What would happen if you thought not just in terms of what can happen quickly, or with the help of only one person, or by miracles without a plan …

… and instead you thought of what could happen when God’s supernatural power is unleashed in your life to produce miracles WITH a plan–miracles that are ten times bigger than what you’re currently dreaming of right now?

What would happen if you believed the Word of God in Psalm 2:8, which says:

“Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession” (Psalm 2:8 NKJV).

That verse was originally recorded as being spoken to Jesus, but it still applies to us today. After all, Jesus is the One Who told us to go into all the world and preach, making disciples of all the nations:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV).

But are we dreaming big enough?

Are you?

What would happen if you asked God to exponentially increase and magnify all that He has in store for you? What if we believed His Word–all of it–especially verses like this one:

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him’” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV).

Friend, God can do a lot more through you, for you, and in you than you think He can.

And in this season, I feel a burning compulsion to beg God to do exactly that. He is showing me that the level at which we have been thinking is nowhere near big enough. We have been begging for crumbs when we should have been insisting on ten-star buffets, and it’s because intimacy with God, holiness, anointing, abundance, power, victory, and influence are our portion in Christ.

As we read in Luke 12:32:

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32 NKJV).

And I genuinely believe that we have not been receiving what we wish for from the Lord because of the littleness of our faith. After all, God is a God Who only does wondrous things:

“Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things!” (Psalm 72:18 NKJV).

And He is the only One Who does those wondrous things, too, as we learn in Psalm 136:

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:1-4 NKJV, emphasis mine).

So what would happen if we believed Him? If we started now to believe Him for these things in all things, even if we have to cry out sometimes, “Lord, I believe! Help Thou my unbelief!” like the desperate daddy in Mark 9:24 who needed a miracle? What would happen then?

It’s time to come up to a higher level of faith, beloved.

It’s time to believe God to draw us closer; to do more; to use us for more; to do more through us and in us (because, after all, developing godly character comes first). It’s time to believe God to glorify His Own name in us more than ever before.

Jesus called us to do greater works than even He did, and we have to dream bigger in order to do so.

As you walk through this special period of fasting and prayer, I challenge and urge you to ask the Lord to open up your understanding of more of the BIG things that He has for you to do. Ask Him to allow you to see His dreams for you without their being clouded by any of your own doubt, unbelief, or predetermined ideas, expectations, or biases.

It’s time to dream bigger: to take the limits off, to blow the proverbial lid off the pot full of the fire and steam of His presence; and to start acting like miracles and huge things are normal.

Because they are.

Contend for these things today. Contend with the Lord to help you dream bigger.

Because according to Jeremiah 33:3 …

“‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know'” (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV).

… He will answer when you call, and He will show you great and mighty things that you do not know.
