Beloved, have you had a difficult time singing to the Lord lately? I am not asking if your love for Him has changed, but rather: have you had a hard time connecting through song and worship and praise? If so, this prayer for your song to come forth is for you.
Worship is such a key part of encountering God and abiding in His manifest presence.
As it says in Psalm 16:11:
“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11 NKJV).

When we encounter God in the glory of His presence, focusing on Him and really perceiving Him with all that is in us, we get filled with joy. It is there, in the Presence of Jesus, that everything is made right.
Years ago, I wrote a song that contains these lyrics:
Only in my Father’s presence are things made right
Only in my Father’s presence do I see with Spirit eyes
And when I’m in my Father’s presence He makes all things new
‘Cause I have a Father Who loves me

That song is very simple, but you can listen to it here, if you want to, and even download it for free:
I really mean the words of that song, for it is only in the Father’s manifest presence that things become right again. This world can be a hard place to live in sometimes. But, when you connect deeply with God in worship and praise:
- He rolls your burdens away;
- He refreshes your spirit;
- He gives you rest for your soul;
- He fills you with joy; and
- He makes you feel brand-new again.
But, beloved, if you have been having a difficult time entering into deep worship lately, those things may feel absent from your life right now …
… and you may miss them terribly.
If you feel like the song has been absent from your heart, you probably yearn for that refreshing you can only receive from deep encounter from the Lord. But, that heart-felt, gut-level, pour-it-all-out level of worship may seem to elude you; like it is just out of reach on the other side of you don’t know what.
O dear one. If that is you, know that our Father longs to pull you close into His manifest presence, just like you want to be pulled.

Of course, His presence is always here. He is always with you, and He lives inside you. But we’re talking about His revealed, manifest, felt glory here–and the song of your heart that rises up out of your very belly when you encounter Him–or that brings you to encounter Him.
Friend, if this resonates with you today and you need your song to once again come forth, I wrote a sample prayer for you.
I encourage you to pray this prayer. But also, I encourage you to begin practicing your worship again:
- Get alone with God at least once a day, and play a song from YouTube or your favorite music source.
- When you do, listen to the lyrics and make yourself sing them to the Lord.
- Even if you don’t feel like singing, the act of singing takes the lyrics from your head to your heart.
And I believe that the Lord will move in your heart, body, soul, and spirit to restore your song and heal your heart as you both pray and practice letting your song come forth to Him.
Are you ready?
See the fruit that abounds to your account …
And still more fruit that remains …
And these are just the tip of the iceberg!
Pray this prayer for your song to come forth today:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.
Abba Father, I love You so much. You are so good, and Your mercy endures forever. I love how You work in my life; You have done so much for me, all the days of my life, and I could never repay You. Thank You.
Holy Father in Heaven, You deserve so much praise.
You deserve to have me and everyone else on earth praising You and thanking You all day and all night long, every day. You are just that good, and I praise You for Your goodness today.
But Lord, I know that I have not been worshipping You and praising You like You deserve–and I want to fix that. I want to worship You, praise You, abide in Your presence, and glorify Your name all day, every day.
Somewhere along the way, Father, it feels like I lost my song.
Even the song of my heart to You feels like it’s missing. I used to thank You and praise You and worship You every day, all day: in the car, at work, and as I was going about my day. It was easy for me to worship You, whether I was alone or even in the congregation of believers.
But lately, Abba, it hasn’t been easy at all:
- Most of the time when I have tried to worship You, I haven’t been feeling much of anything.
- I still thank You and give You praise, but it doesn’t feel like my worship is coming out of the deepest depths of my heart.
- I feel cut off, somehow; like I have walls up that not even I can penetrate, and that those walls are somehow keeping my worship at surface level.
- Yet, I long to connect with You deeply in worship like I used to, and even better–and more deeply–than I used to; deeper than I ever did before.
Abba Father, please help me to worship You again from the depths of my heart:
- Let my song come forth from the deepest places of my heart.
- Let my song rise up to You, and let it be pleasing and acceptable to You.
- Heal my heart of anything that ails me.
- Heal me of anything that makes it difficult for me to worship.
- Put a new song in my heart; a hymn of praise unto You, my God.
- Help me to be able to concentrate on You again for long periods of time, without getting distracted by other things.
- Help me to make the lyrics I hear personal, so I really mean them; and help me to sing them back to You with all my heart–not from rote, but rather from passionate love for You.
- Help me to love You with all my heart, and help me to feel that love when I worship You (and always).
- Tear down any walls I have put up, knowingly or unknowingly, that would keep me from connecting with You in the deepest places of worship.
- Help me to feel You again through my worship and praise.
- Give me the energy, and the physical stamina, to sing and praise and dance and lift my hands to You.
- Help my body and even my vocal cords not to hurt when I do stand up to worship You; when I lift my hands to You; and when I sing to You.
- Give me power to worship You with all my heart, body, soul, and spirit!
- Let Your worship flood even my joints and marrow!

O Holy Father, let my song come forth and rise up to You once again, please, in Jesus’ name!
Please, Abba:
- Help me to encounter You in the stillness of the secret place in worship.
- Help me also even to encounter You in the loudness and busyness of corporate worship, when other people are around.
- Help me to focus on You only, and not to be distracted by other people’s presence, or my “to do” list, or by the mess around me if my house is a mess, or by other people’s worship if they worship You differently than I do.
Let my worship and my song come forth from the deepest places of my heart and spirit once again, Abba.
You deserve the glory and the honor, Lord. So please: help me, I pray, in Jesus’ name. I want to worship You again like I ought to. I want my life to be marked by encountering You in worship.
You deserve this level of attention and praise from me, and I want to give it to You–but I need Your help even to give You the worship You deserve.
Lord, Your Word says that “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:14 NKJV); and I am asking this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus. Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen and amen.”
