Friend, do you feel dead inside? Do you just feel like you have nothing to offer anyone, let alone God, yourself, or your family? If so, pray this prayer with me today: “Lord, let Your life roar through my body!”
I sense in the Spirit right now that the Lord is allowing all of us in His Body to become aware of our utter dependence on Him at a whole new level.
This is a good thing, but it’s also a hard thing. It’s good because the less we depend on our flesh (in which dwells no good thing), the more aware of God we are. And there is truly nothing we can do in our flesh; Jesus said, “Without Me you can do nothing.”
But this new level of awareness of our nothingness is also hard. It’s hard because we are used to depending on our flesh in some ways and at some levels.

We are used to depending on our smarts, our inspiration, our creativity, our drive. We are used to being excellent at whatever we do that we’re good at; exercising those things that we do well has always come without effort.
But suddenly, many people in the Body of Christ have come to the end of themselves.
And at the end of ourselves, we find nothing—nothing but Jesus. At the end of ourselves, we are helpless—except for Jesus. At the end of ourselves, we have no strength—except for the strength we find in the One who knows us best and loves us most. And at the end of ourselves, we are thankful and glad that His grace is sufficient for us, for we have no strength of our own and would collapse in our weakness without Him.

The good news is that He is there for you in that place.
He is here for me, and He is there for you. He is with you right now, exactly at the point of your need.
The Lord has told me to read the Gospel of John ten times this year because of this very thing. If we’re going to survive this new level of being aware of our nothingness, we have to come up to a whole new level of awareness of His fullness and sufficiency. And Jesus said:
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in Him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (John 15:1-8).
Beloved, it is a season of pruning.
I believe the Father is pruning us right now, taking off all dependence on the flesh and on worldly wisdom. He is removing all dependence on the things in which we find fulfillment, other than Himself. And He is allowing us to see and experience our complete and utter dependence on the Vine, for without Him we truly can do nothing.
If you are in this season of pruning and you feel complete lifelessness and total “nothingness” on the inside, start at the beginning by asking God to fill you with LIFE in Christ Jesus today.
Pray this with me:
“Father God, I come to You in Jesus’ name.
Father God, thank You for being alive. Thank You for being eternal; age to age, still the same. Thank You that Your Son Jesus ever lives to make intercession for me, and thank You that Jesus lives in my heart right now.
Thank You also that Your same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me. I praise You for these things today, Lord.
Abba Father, I come to You today feeling dead inside. I am aware of You, but when I look at the inside of myself, I feel like I’ve got “nothingness.” I truly have nothing to offer You besides my heart and love and devotion, Father—and I have no strength of my own, no inspiration of my own, no drive or courage of my own.
Father, I know You do not need me to provide You with anything. You are the Source of every good thing; You are the Giver of good and perfect gifts.
But I also know that it is not Your will for me to feel dead inside. It is Your will instead that I be filled with LIFE, for Jesus came that we might have LIFE, and have it more abundantly.
So Father God, in Jesus’ name, let Your life roar through my body, soul, and spirit right now:
- Fill me up with LIFE abundantly.
- Fill me up with courage and inspiration.
- Let Your bravery, inspiration, and motivation rush through me right now at every level.
- Let me be cognizant and aware of Christ in me, the Hope of glory.
- Let hope arise and fill me up from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet.
- Let Your joy roar through my body, soul, and spirit.
Father, I ask that You would fill me with so much LIFE that You would help me engage with my life and enjoy it, instead of hiding and hoping the day will pass by quickly. Help me to enjoy being a spouse and a parent—and let Your love and heart for my family fill me up right now.
Help me to enjoy being healthy, and to aggressively participate in my health, instead of hiding from it. Help me to enjoy my work, and let it be a blessing and a fulfillment to me, as Your Word says it should be; for work is a gift of God.
Abba Father, I need You to fill me with strength and life today.
Thank You for having compassion on me, and thank You that Your compassion moves You; it always results in Your help. Thank You for being my Shepherd and leading me in the way I should go. Please give me wisdom today, Father, and fill me with Your Spirit.
In the name of Jesus, Father, I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, will, and emotions. I plead the blood of Jesus over my desires and drive (or lack thereof). I command apathy and fatigue to leave in Jesus’ name, and I release the great victories, healing, and strength that Jesus purchased for me on the cross into my life at every level—body, soul, and spirit. I plead the blood of Jesus over my health, wealth, courage, LIFE, and wisdom.
Let Your wisdom from above fill me right now, I pray, in Jesus’ name. Let courage, HOPE, and strength vibrate from my very pores. And let Your LIFE ABUNDANT roar through my body, soul, heart, and spirit right now, giving me courage and a can-do attitude to face the day.
Thank You, Abba Father. I am so grateful to You. You are my Life-Source, the Great and Only Life-Giver. Thank You. Jesus, YOU are the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE. I call on You today, and I thank You so much, with all of my heart, for roaring upon my body, soul, and spirit, and filling me with Your LIFE.
In Jesus’ holy and precious name I pray, amen and amen.”

I love your prayers and what leads you to them. This one in particular really struck a chord because the world is closing in on all of us and the only way out is Jesus. Praying and staying in His word helps, but it can be exhausting. I try to stay current, but that’s a challenge in and of itself because of all the lies. This prayer greatly encouraged me and I will keep it close for those times when I feel “dead” inside. Thank you, Jamie. Your tenacity is addicting!

I was terminated from my job on 9/25th and have been heavily attacked. I realized yesterday as I tried to sit in quietness I was dead inside, total and complete emptiness within me. Some how I was outwardly functioning by total grace (autopilot). I knew the world has nothing to offer me. I decided I was sticky with Jesus despite the barrenness within me. I will stick with Jesus with all my barren, empty, nothingness and void of myself; knowing my creator will fill me up with His love, His mercy, His compassion, His joy and His character. I surrender it all. I’m done doing it on my own! I’m done trying to fix things myself! I’m done being self dependent on my own strength! You can have all of me no exceptions! You can have my yes! Have your way in me! In Jesus name!

Thank you for being an instrument in God’s hands, Jamie. This message and prayer touched and ministered at the very core of my being. I truly surrender all to Him and am at the end of myself. I acknowledge that without Him I am nothing and can do nothing. I have reached that place of nothingness. I decree and declare that So Be It, in Jesus’ name!
As I sat here in my chair at my desk this morning I felt exactly like everything that you spoke about in your prayer here today. I was so lost, empty, and tired of always being tired. I was desperate to feel healthy and strong again so that I could do and be everything that Jesus created me to do and be for Him. I feel like I’m just going thru the motions of living without actually accomplishing anything for Jesus or myself. I have so many health issues that plague me that I feel empty and useless. I want to feel His touch upon my life so that the fire He has put inside me can burst into flames of glory for His Name. I even wrote all of this out in a special place on my phone so I can refer back to it whenever this dependency tries to overtake me and my faith again. I serve an ever forgiving , everpresent, everloving God who has never given up on me even before I ever knew Him and He definitely WILL NOT GIVE UPON ME NOW. His Word says ‘I will never nor forsake you’ – that’s the one promise I stand on and remind Him of several times each day. Praise the Awesome Name of Jesus !!!
