Beloved, is your heart broken today? If so, please read this small bit of encouragement below.

First, dear friend, if your heart is broken …

… Know that God sees and cares.

It’s true: He has not forgotten about you. He has not left you alone, and you are not forsaken or desolate. I know it may feel like you are, but feelings aren’t truth. Feelings are just how we feel, but TRUTH is what Jesus says, and Who He is. And His Word says that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Also, friend, if your heart is broken, know that there is no problem on earth that God cannot heal.

No matter what has happened that has broken your heart …

… whether you feel hurt, betrayed, sad, discouraged, demoralized, or any other terrible thing …

Jesus is bigger than it all. And His Word says that we should call upon Him, and He will answer us and show us great and mighty things that we do not know. (See Jeremiah 33:3.) Also, Psalm 91 tells us this:

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91:14-15 NKJV).

So, if your heart is broken, please: stop what you are doing right now and call upon Jesus!

O beloved, cry out to Him with all the fervor in your heart. Cry out to Him right from your place of pain, sorrow, and despair. Call upon Jesus, for He is Savior and Deliverer! He is always ready to save us, heal us, and deliver us–and to destroy ALL the works of the devil!

Also, if your heart is broken, you have to stand in faith.

I know it’s hard to do that. But, my friend, faith is a choice. It’s not a feeling or an emotion. It’s not a byproduct of seeing things go your way. And if your heart is broken today …

even if you feel like you’re drowning in sorrow, fear, and despair …

… you still have to stand and believe God:

    • Believe Him that He will answer.
    • Believe Him that He will deliver you and honor you.
    • Believe Him to comfort you right now in your turmoil!
    • Believe Him to give you His perspective, and to help you see every situation like He sees it.
    • Believe Him to help you think His thoughts, for you have the mind of Christ.
    • Believe Him to give you wisdom.

After all, God has promised to give us the wisdom we need–but His Word says we won’t receive anything from the Lord if we doubt. Read what He tells us about this in James chapter 1:

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:2-8 NKJV).

And friend, know that He is supporting you–and that His grace is sufficient for you.

I know you feel weak, but it is right now in your weakness that His strength can be made perfect in you. This is one of my favorite Bible promises to claim ever, and it’s found in 2 Corinthians:

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV).

And He knows how hard it is. He is mindful that we are but dust:

“For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust” (Psalm 103:14 NKJV).

But the beautiful thing is that, when we are at our weakest, our saddest, and our most heartbroken point, His grace will come roaring in like a flood and make you strong–even if you don’t realize He is doing it. All we have to do is call on His name and ask for His grace to be sufficient for us today. I like to ask Him to let my weakness be like a playground for His grace, for I am weak every day–and I desperately need His strength to even breathe in and out every day.

O beloved. If your heart is broken today, I’m so sorry that you are struggling.

But, in times like these, Jesus is all we have–and He is also all we need. He is the sum total of everything we require in order not just to survive it, but to conquer whatever we are going through and come out the other side in victory.

So please: call upon Him. Cry out to Jesus and call on His name. Believe Him and know that He is stronger than your trouble. Cry out to Him in faith, and stand on His Word that He will answer you and help you. Ask Him to make His grace sufficient for you, and for His strength to be made perfect in your weakness.

As you do, you will find His whirly-swirly dunamis power and grace coming up under you and lifting you up to His face. You will feel His Spirit comforting you, and you will sense that underneath you are His everlasting arms …

… And He will see you through.

Thank you Lord for seeing my hardships and my commitment to You; help me when I’m feeling less than remind me that I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus; and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
