As I wrote about earlier this week, Jesus intends His Church to govern. We are to be God’s representatives and agents here on the earth.
That means that God’s people were never meant to be under the weather, under attack, or under the circumstances. We weren’t meant to be under anything. We were created to have dominion.
So what are the places over which we, as God’s children, should have dominion?
Well, let’s look at God’s original intent from the creation story. Genesis 1:26-28 tells us:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
God originally made us–His children–to have dominion over every living thing on the earth. Psalm 115:16 reiterates this:
The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.”
I’m pretty sure that having dominion over everything on the earth means we’re to govern everything, all the time.
So what does dominion look like practically in every Christian’s life?
Well, it means we search out how and over what we’re to have dominion (which is what this blog post is all about), and then we examine our own lives to start exercising that dominion (which is what the next post in this series will be about).
My favorite list of places over which we should have dominion is found in Deuteronomy 28. In this chapter, God starts right off by telling us that if we will obey His commands, He will elevate us above all other nations:
Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth” (Deuteronomy 28:1).
Then the entire first half of the chapter (verses 3-13, listed below) is a huge list of all the ways God will set us high above all nations of the earth, if we will obey Him.
Here are 10 practical areas in which God’s children should govern:
1. In every geographic location.
“Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.”
If you exist, you’re either in the city or out of it, right? Those are the only two options. This indicates that we are to be blessed no matter where we are.
2. In your investments.
“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.”
The things you set your hand to as investments are all supposed to be blessed. This includes biological reproduction, your business, and other investments. You are to dominate over all the nations of the earth in these areas.
3. In your food.
“Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.”
What you purchase, eat, prepare, and store must be blessed.
4. In every direction.
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.”
No matter where you are or where you’re going, you’re supposed to be blessed above all the nations of the earth.
5. In all your battles.
“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”
No weapon formed against you can prosper (Isaiah 54:17). You’re to be undefeated, no matter what kind of battle you’re facing. Again, God intends for you to dominate.
6. In the things you store up for the future, and the extra you accumulate to give away.
“The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand…”
A storehouse is somewhere you store provisions for the future, or provisions for others. When you store up provisions wisely, God says your provisions should be blessed above.
7. In the land you own.
“… and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
When God gives you land, He blesses you in it.
8. In influence over people.
“The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.”
You’re to have influence over people; people are to see you and look at you with a holy fear, knowing that you belong to God. Again, you are supposed to dominate!
If you obey God, you’ll never get over into witchcraft, but you will have influence over people for His Kingdom purposes!

9. In your material goods.
“And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.”
You’re to be exceedingly blessed above all the nations of the earth with material goods, offspring, profits from your business, investments, and rewards in every way.
10. In your finances, particularly in freedom from debt.
“The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”
You’re to have plenty of everything you need, all the time. Everything you touch should be blessed, and you’re to be free from debt.
It is God’s intention that His children should rule and reign on the earth. We are to govern over the earth as the King’s kids, with all the rights and privileges that come with being God’s children.
This portion of Deuteronomy 28 ends by saying:
And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them” (emphasis mine).
We are to be the head and not the tail. We are to be above only, and not beneath… not beneath anything.
That means that if you are God’s child, you are not to be under the weather, under the circumstances, or under attack. You ARE to be victorious and in authority over EVERYTHING.
So how do you go about becoming victorious in every area of your life? How do you start to govern? Check back Friday, for the last post in this series about HOW to govern in the spirit (and practical) realm!

The Word is true! The Word says “heaven and earth will pass away but my words will remain” . We are still hearing the word as it is, was and will be. Nothing is changing. God bless you Jamie for the glory of the Lord being shown in your letters.
