21 Days of Great Exploits, Day 1: “Lord, Let Me See a Great Vision!”

Beloved, do you want to walk in the MORE that God has for you? Do you want to accomplish great things and carry out great exploits in your own life, in your family, and in the Kingdom of God at large? If so, this 21-day series, 21 Days of Great Exploits, will inspire you!

Each day in this series, we will study some Biblical event or key about great exploits. Then, we’ll pray a short prayer together at the end of each devotional, asking the Lord to help us do great things for Him, and to carry you and each of us right into all the MORE He has for us!

Remember, Daniel 11:32b says, “… but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Do you know your God, beloved? If so, then you are definitely called to do great things. And remember, nothing is impossible with God!

For Day 1 of 21 Days of Great Exploits, let’s read Genesis 13:14-17.

This passage says:

“And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: ‘Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.

And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you’” (Genesis 13:14-17 NKJV).

In this passage, Abram (who later became Abraham) had just suffered a crushing defeat. He failed to be able to keep the peace in his family, and he had to separate from his nephew, Lot. Lot took all the best land for himself, and it looked like Abram was left with nothing.

However, God said that Abram’s story wasn’t finished. Instead, it had only begun. And God showed Abram the vision that HE, God, had for Abram’s life–a vision that didn’t take into account anybody else’s opinion. God had huge plans for Abram, and He showed Abram a vision that was even bigger than Abram could see or count.

God wants to do the same thing for you today, too, beloved. He wants to lift you up, even if He’s lifting you up from a crushing defeat, and show you the BIG plans–the big vision and dreams–that He has for your life.

If you’re going to do great exploits, you’re going to need a big vision.

That’s not a problem, though, because you serve a God who sees. God’s vision is unlimited. He sees all of the present, as well as all of eternity past and all of eternity future, in the same moment. He understands it all and has plans for it all.

Yes, God has plans for you—and they are good plans, according to Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).

And if He has plans for you, that means He also has a vision for your life.

It’s a good vision, too—a vision full of huge and wonderful things. Yes, YOU are supposed to carry out great exploits and mighty feats of strength, faith, and power!

We know this because Jesus said in John 14:12 that we are supposed to do the same works that He Himself did, plus even greater works:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12 NKJV).

And if God has good plans and a great big vision, He will show you what they are. You just have to be willing to lift up your eyes and receive that vision:

• Don’t dumb down the vision to accommodate your prior experience;
• Don’t dilute the vision to make room for doubt and unbelief;
• Just lift up your eyes, LISTEN to the word that the Lord is speaking to your heart;
• Obey Him, and BELIEVE.

Nothing is impossible with God, but you have to be willing to receive a God-sized vision!

Do you want to walk in the big vision the Lord has for your life?

If so, ask Him to help you see that great vision today, so you can carry out great exploits. Pray this with me:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.

Abba Father, Your Word says you have good plans for me: plans to prosper me and not to harm me; plans to give me hope and a future. And Your Word says that I am supposed to do the works that Jesus did, plus even greater works.

Lord God, I want to do all the big things You have for me.

I want to do the great works, the great exploits, and the even greater works than Jesus did. I desire to walk in MORE in my life, but I can only do that with Your help!

Therefore, Father God, I ask today in Jesus’ name that You would show me Your vision for my life:

• Lord, let me see a great vision!
• Grip my heart with Your plans for my life!
• Wake me up to understand the possibilities of all the dreams that You have in mind for me.
• Help me to see what You see, no matter how big it is—and no matter how much faith it’s going to require.
• Build my faith, Lord!
• Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things by Your Spirit and in Your Word.
• Teach me what You want me to do, and help me to burn with love for you.
• Fill me with 100% willingness to obey You and work toward the vision that You have for me.

Thank You, Abba Father. I give You all the praise. In Jesus’ lovely and matchless name I pray, amen and amen.”

Beloved, if you want to carry out great exploits, it starts with a big vision.
