“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV).

Beloved, do you long to walk in everything God promises you? Do you look in His Word and see how different your life could be, if every single one of His promises instantly became visible and manifest in your life?

You can get there, you know. It’s not a pipe dream. God is not a man, that He should lie:

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 NKJV).

And everything He has spoken in His Word is true.

But, there are conditions. There is a process for getting there. And one of the big keys to walking in victory–to seeing every blessing God has promised come true in your life–is the transformation that comes with renewing your mind.

In order to walk in victory, you have to renew your mind.

We all do. And “renewing your mind” means looking deeply into God’s Word, seeing how it applies to you, and changing the way you think to match what God’s Word says.

To help you with this, in this series we are studying and praying through 30 different Scriptures about various thinking patterns and habits. As we pray through each of these tidbits from Scripture, we will ask the Lord to change our thoughts to match His.

Today, on Day 1 of the series 30 Days of Renewing Your Mind, we will pray through Romans 12:1-2.

Please see the prayer points below. I am not writing a full-length prayer word-for-word from these passages, but rather providing bullet points for you to pray through using your own words from your own heart.

Let’s review Romans 12:1-2 again. This passage says:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV).

What can we learn from this passage about renewing our mind?

Here are five keys:

1. God’s mercy is what works in us to help us surrender fully to Him.
2. Presenting ourselves fully to Him is the only reasonable action on our part, since Jesus gave His entire life and died on a cross for us.
3. Because we are the blood-bought, precious, greatly beloved adopted sons and daughters of God, we are to live differently from this world. We are to live like the children of God that we are, citizens of Heaven even though we are living temporarily in this fallen earth!
4. Renewing our minds doesn’t just help us; it transforms us.
5. It is the transformation that comes with the renewal of your mind that brings God’s perfect will for you into visible manifestation. In other words, if you want to walk in all the intimacy with God, holiness, victory, blessings, and abundance that God has for you—all these things which are His perfect will for your life—renewing your mind is the road to get there.

Are you inspired? I hope so! Let’s pray as follows through this passage today:

• Tell the Father that you come before Him in Jesus’ name.
• Ask that His Holy Spirit would pray through you and for you today, interceding for you as only He can.
• Thank Him for His goodness and grace toward you.
• Thank Him for all the mercy He has ever shown you throughout your entire life.
• Praise Him for His lovingkindness that He showers on you every single day by even giving you life, breath, salvation, and His Holy Spirit living inside you!
• Present yourself to the Lord and ask Him to help you yield yourself fully to Him today.
• Pray that He would search you and remove any resistance to Himself, or rebellion against Himself, that He may find in you.
• Ask Him to make you holy and acceptable to Himself in every way.
• Pray that He would help you to sense His delight in you, and to feel His love and presence in you and with you every day.
• Pray that He would give you a huge heart for the eternal, and a hunger for the things that matter to Him.
• Pray that He would remove every desire you have for carnal (fleshly) or sinful things.
• Ask Him to help you love what He loves and hate what He hates.
• Ask Him to help you renew your mind, washing your mind in the water of His Word every day.
• Pray that He would help you to hunger and thirst after righteousness, and that you would be filled.
• Ask the Lord to transform your entire life as you renew your mind in His Word.
• Pray in Jesus’ name that He would make the results of your transformation process, and of His Lordship, visible in your life.
• Pray that, as you grow closer to Him and learn to think like He thinks—thinking in accordance with His Word—that His good, acceptable, and perfect will would become readily apparent in your life in all things, by the power of His Holy Spirit.
• Thank Him and give Him all the praise!

Beloved, the blessed and victorious life of the believer does not come without some work on our part.

Yes, Jesus paid the price with His blood for our salvation, regeneration, and eternal life. However, we have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling:

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV).

And that means we have each put in the work that it takes to be transformed.

But friend, do not despair! These things are not too hard, and God will help you! He has made His home in you and is with you always. And if you will focus on Jesus and seek Him with all your heart, He will walk you through the transformation process moment by moment and day by day!
