First, watch this word of encouragement for Day 2:

Next, let’s look at today’s key Scripture passage about faith.

For Day 2, our Scripture passage is Galatians 3:6, which says:

“… just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness” (Galatians 3:6 NKJV).

Why is this Scripture so important when we’re talking about strengthening your faith? Because your very identity comes from FAITH.

    Here’s what I mean:

When you placed your faith in Christ, you became righteous–just like Abraham did. As it says in Romans:

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV).

In the moment in which you gave your life to Jesus, your identity changed.

You became righteous. Righteousness became who you are.

Additionally, you became a child of God:

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him” (1 John 3:1 NKJV).

God LOVED you even before you gave your life to Jesus, as it says in John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV).

… But you were not His CHILD before you gave your life to Jesus. However, in the moment you DID give your life to Jesus, your identity changed:

    • You became righteous in His sight; and
    • You became His beloved CHILD.

In that moment, God placed you into right standing with Himself through your faith in Christ.

He washed you clean with the blood of His only begotten Son, Jesus, and you became a new creation. As we read in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NKJV).

So friend, notice this: Your identity comes through faith.

You and I are made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ. We are NOT able to enter into any kind of right standing with God through works; in other words, through trying to do enough good things. And that means also that we become His children of LOVE through faith.

Let me add here: If you haven’t given your life to Jesus yet, God does love you anyway, whether you love Him yet or not.

John 3:16, quoted above, says this. God sent His Son Jesus to die for us because He LOVED us. He loved us before He ever sent Jesus to die, and that is why He sent Jesus to die. He loved us even before we ever loved Him. While we were still sinning–or if you haven’t given your life to Jesus yet, which means you’re still sinning currently–God LOVES you with everything in Him.

    Romans 5:8 tells us this:

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 NKJV).

But you also need to understand that God’s love continues toward you now, even after you give your heart to Jesus …

… And it’s by FAITH that you are His child of love.

That means you are secure in your identity, BY FAITH:

    • You can’t earn His love. His love is a gift.
    • You can’t earn a right relationship with Him. That right relationship with Him comes as a gift, when you BELIEVE in Jesus.
    • You can’t earn your identity as beloved child of God. You can only believe Him, and RECEIVE.

Abraham believed God. And his belief in God saved him; his faith in God is what saved him. And in that moment he was saved through his faith, he became the beloved child of God.

    The same goes for you:

In the moment you gave your life to Jesus by faith, you became a beloved child of God.

    By faith.

    Not by works.

Friend, you are secure in your identity in Jesus BY FAITH. And you are secure in being a BELOVED child of God, also because of your faith.

This means, if you have given your life to Jesus, you are loved–and nothing can ever change that. You are righteous in Him, and nothing can ever change that.

You don’t have to work for love, and you don’t have to perform like a marionette on a string to GET love.

You never worked hard enough to become loved in the first place, and you can’t work hard enough to be loved now or in the future. God simply loves you, and you dwell with Him in love by faith. Yes; right now, God loves you 100%.
