If You Struggle in December, Pray This

Beloved, do you struggle sometimes during the month of December, more than during other months? If December is a difficult month for you for any reason–whether that reason is due to seasonal depression, hard memories, financial needs, or any other thing–then I wrote a prayer for you to pray.

If you struggle with sadness during the month of December, pray this today:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.

Abba Father, thank You that Your mercies are new every day. Thank You that Your eye is on the righteous, and Your ear is open to their call. Thank You for making me the righteousness of God in Christ, so that You can and do see me and hear me.

Father God, You are good, and I praise You for that. You have always been faithful to me, and I know You will always remain faithful. It is Who You are, and You will never change. I praise You for being such a perfect, kind, good, generous Father.

Holy Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name right now, and I ask for Your help with the issues I am facing this month of December.

It’s going to be a busy month, Lord; I have many obligations and deadlines, some of which I wish I didn’t have. But I do still have to get these things done. I need Your grace, Abba. Please let Your grace be sufficient for me. Let Your strength be made perfect in my weakness, and help me:

• Give me grace and strength to do all the things I need to do every day.
• Fill me with patience as I deal with all the people I will have to deal with.
• Give me wisdom to know what to do and what not to do.

And Father, December comes with many emotions.

I need help with all the emotions I am facing right now, Lord. Emotions are swirling all around this month that I don’t usually have to deal with to this degree, and I want to hide until they all go away. Please help me right now, Lord, and comfort me. I need Your help with many things–with all the things.

First, Father, December is a time of giving, but it is also a time when I wish I could give more than I actually can, at least so far.

That’s hard, Lord, and I need help with that. It makes me so sad when I have wonderful things in my heart that I want to do for people, and for You. But I am dependent on Your provision.

And even though I know You will provide all my needs, it seems like my desires have not been provided for lately. I trust You in this, Abba, but I need Your help. And I am asking that, this month:

• You truly would open the windows of Heaven up for me and pour out so much blessing that Your provision far exceeds all my need.
• Please, bring the financial abundance to me that Your Word promises You will send.
• Help me be able to afford things I never thought I could afford.
• Provide both for my basic needs and my family’s basic needs.
• But please, I ask in Jesus’ name that You would also provide for the things I have been yearning for, for my own health and well-being and self-care … things which others seem to afford easily, but which seem out of reach for me.
• Bless me to be a blessing to You and to others as well.
• Help me to be able to bless the poor, and to sow into missions; for Your Word says that “whatever you have done to the least of these,” I have done it unto You.
• Help me to give and to sow.
• Make a way for me to be as generous with others as You have been with me, all the days of my life; for You saved me and filled me with Your Spirit, and nothing could be more generous than that.
• Please help me, Abba, to be able to give and bless and sow and function financially the way I have always longed to do.

Thank You, Abba. And Father …

December is also a time when I have to deal with certain memories that can be difficult to bear.

There are people I miss who aren’t here any longer. And there are wrongs that have been done to me that seem to come back to my remembrance in difficult ways around the holidays. Please help me with these things, Lord. Please.

Lord, I plead the blood of Jesus over my memories, including the sorrows and grief and even anger that come with those sometimes:

• Please let my memories and thoughts only be sweet this year.
• Give me peace and rest in Your presence.
• Let the sorrow and sighing flee away, washed away in the blood of Jesus.
• Bring Your light and joy into my heart and life right now, and all month, I pray, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, December also comes with many disruptions to routine.

The things that happen this month are always so disruptive to my routine. I feel like the ground gets pulled out from under me in my usual routines of family, work, friends, church, and more.

I need Your help with those things too, Lord, for I do not always do well. Sometimes I go into a tailspin when my routine is gone, and I really need You to keep me stable:

• Keep me as the apple of Your eye.
• Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
• Help me to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under Your shadow.
• Please keep me stable and fixed as I abide in You.
• Please comfort me every single day.
• Speak to me in the night seasons and in the day. Whisper into my ear everything You would have me to know.
• Fill me with hope, I pray, in Jesus’ name.
• Fill me with Your courage. Encourage me every day by Your Spirit.

I often feel isolated, too, around this time of year. Please help me, Lord.

I feel so lonely sometimes. I feel isolated and cut off from the world–and it’s not just a feeling; I really do get isolated. I feel like all the world around me is celebrating, but I just can’t wait for it to be over. I don’t have a place to belong or a family to belong with. Holidays are not fun for me.

But please, Abba Father: As I bow before You, please gather me into Your arms. Wrap Your arms around me in a way that I can feel, both physically and emotionally. Tuck my head up under Your chin and hold me. Help me to seek You with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength, and help me to find total and complete fulfillment in You.

Abba, I am calling on Your name.

You are worthy to be praised. I call on the name of Your Son Jesus, and I ask You to help me this month. Please, in Jesus’ name:

• Reverse the trend I have endured in past years, and make this month of December be sweet, peaceful, fun, and filled with joy and light for me.
• Provide abundantly for everything I need, want, and desire–which is mostly to be a blessing to others, and to be healthy myself.
• Help me to abide in You, and in Your love.
• Help me to hear Your voice and obey You every step of the way.
• Minister to me day in and day out as only You can, and keep me stable in every way as I proceed through this month.

Thank You, Holy Father. Thank You, Lord Jesus. And thank You, sweet Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ holy and precious name I pray, amen.”
