Prayer for Open Windows of Heaven

Do you need the Lord’s financial provision? If so, one of the many amazing promises you can claim from God’s Word is to ask the Lord to open up the windows of Heaven for you.

What are the windows of Heaven?

God uses the term “windows of Heaven,” OR other similar phraseology, specifically in the Bible when He is talking about sending something to earth.

For example, in Deuteronomy 28:12, we read that God will open “His good treasure, the heavens”–and that great blessing will come to you:

“The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow” (Deuteronomy 28:12 NKJV).

We do have to remember that these blessings in Deuteronomy 28:12 do have conditions.

Yes, we do have to meet the conditions God lays out in these verses in order to receive the blessings He promises. Those conditions are outlined in Deuteronomy 28:1-2, which says:

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God …” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NKJV).

Therefore, the conditions to receiving the promises are:

1. You have to diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God;
2. You have to observe carefully all His commandments which He commands us in His Word.

But, as long as you’re doing those things, these promises are for you.

And that includes what God said in Deuteronomy 28:12, where He said that He will open to you His good treasure, the Heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless ALL the work of your hands–and that you will lend to many nations, but never borrow.

God also promises to open the windows of Heaven for you in Malachi chapter 3.

Again, the promise has conditions. But, if you decide to obey God and meet the condition, the harvest is bottomless. Look at the abundance of what He promises:

“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the Lord of hosts;

“And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 3:8-12 NKJV).

So why don’t we always walk in the fulfillment of these promises?

Two reasons:

1. Either we don’t meet the conditions; or
2. We don’t ask God enough.

If you haven’t made Jesus truly the Lord of your life …

… which means He is the your Boss and Master, and you do what He says …

… including seeking Him first:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).

… and also including tithing and giving offerings of money to the Lord, which are two big pitfalls many people don’t want to do (seeking Him first and managing money His way) …

… then you aren’t meeting the conditions for the promises. So, if you want to be blessed, you have to start there.

But after that, we also have to ASK.

You have to ask God for what you need. You do this by pouring our heart out to Him in prayer early and late and long.

You have to present ALL your requests, needs, wants, and desires to Him, as it says in Philippians chapter 4:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV).

And this ASKING is a big thing that probably all of us are not doing enough of.

After all, we have to ASK if we want to receive:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV).

And the book of James tells us:

“Yet you do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2c NKJV).

And Jesus told us this:

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23-24 NKJV).

So yes, if we’re not receiving, very often, it’s “you have not because you ask not.” Or, we have not enough because we ask not enough. 🙂

We can always pray more, and we each need to.

Even if we pray for hours a day already, there are more hours–and those hours need to be filled with prayer: more prayer, deeper prayer, more insistent prayer.

O beloved. We have not because we ask not. But, let’s put an end to the “asking not” part today, shall we?

Together, let’s go to the Lord and ASK for Him to open the windows of Heaven for us and pour out so much blessing that His provision far exceeds all of our need.

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Abba Father, You are good, and Your mercy endures forever. Thank You for being so kind to me. Thank You for providing all my needs according to Your riches in glory.

I praise You, Father; for You are good and worthy, and You are so faithful to me.

I appreciate You so much, and I couldn’t live without You. I couldn’t even exist without You–so thank You for creating me, redeeming me, and calling me by name.

Thank You for saving me, loving me, and filling me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ my Lord.

O Holy Father, in the name of Your precious Son Jesus, I lift up Your promises to You today.

Lord, You said that You would open the windows of Heaven and pour me out such a blessing that I won’t even have enough room to hold it all. You said You would do this when I tithe, and I am tithing.

Your Word also says that, if I will diligently obey You and be watchful to do all that You command me this day, then You will open to me Your good treasury, the heavens, to give me the rain in its season–and to bless all the works of my hands.

O Abba Father, I believe I am obeying You today.

I am not holding anything back from You that I know of; and I invite You to “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV).

And if you find in me anything at all that is not submitted to You, then please get it out; change my heart; forgive my sin; fill me with Your Holy Spirit; and make me like You.

But Lord, as I meet Your conditions, I pray right now in Jesus’ name that You would open Your heavens up to me:

• Open to me Your good treasury, the heavens, and give me rain for my land in this season.
• Let the season of abundance come forth upon me now.
• Shower everything I am, everything I have, everything I do, and every aspect of my life with Your blessings.
• Bless ALL the works of my hands, and let my hands only do works that are from You–works that are blessable!
• Shower so much of Your financial blessing on me that I will lend to many nations, but never borrow.
• I pray in Jesus’ name that You will bless me so much TODAY that there will not even be room enough to receive it.
• Let Your blessings fill all my need, provide for all my need in abundance, and OVERFLOW to all those around me, in Jesus’ name.
• Rebuke the devourer for my sake today! Prevent the thief, the enemy, from coming to steal, kill, or destroy. Keep him from getting anywhere near me in Jesus’ name; put up a hedge of protection all around me and everything that pertains to me, in Jesus’ name.
• Fill me with the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, and with the abundant life that Jesus came to earth, lived, died, and rose again to give me.
• Protect the fruit of my ground. Let every seed I have sown unto Your name bring forth good fruit and a harvest unto me: 30, 60, 100, and 1,000 times over!
• Guarantee my harvest. You said that the vine would not fail to bear fruit for me in the field. So, in Jesus’ name, let everything that is supposed to bring in money for me bring in that money, and lots of it. Let everything I do ooze with profit unto Your glory, in Jesus’ name.
• Let all nations call me blessed. Give me international influence for Christ, Abba Father, in Jesus’ name.
• Let me be a delightful land. Give me favor everywhere I go, and let my children–biological and spiritual children both–rise up and call me blessed.

Thank You, Abba Father.

Thank You for opening the windows of Heaven to me this day. Thank You for Your goodness, generosity, and grace. Thank You for not only providing all my needs, but for providing all my wants, desires, goals, and dreams too.

Thank You, Father God. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Thank You, sweet, precious Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ mighty and precious name I pray, amen and amen.”

Friend, we all need to take our level of praying to the next level.

We have not because we ask not. God has promised us to open the windows of Heaven for us when we meet His conditions. We have to begin there, by obeying everything that His Word teaches us.

But if you are already walking before the Lord and yielding to Him in all that you are, you still have to ask. Ask, ask, ask, and ask some more.

God promises you that He will open the windows of Heaven for you.

Believe Him; meet His conditions by obeying Him with all your heart; and ask Him to do this today.
