Precious Presence seeker,

Are you a general of the faith–or do you serve a general? If so, you need to be aware of how the Lord is moving among the generals.

The Lord has been hovering over me with the Spirit of intercession for the generals in the Body for some time now.

I believe that, as younger ministers rise up, it is our duty not to seek to replace or compete with the generals, but to hold up their hands and be a guard for them. And before I continue this word, let me be crystal-clear:

I do not believe that standing guard is the sons’ and daughters’ path to promotion.

Of course, the Lord always blesses and rewards humble service. Jesus taught us that–but purity of heart and intent is important. It would be unholy for sons and daughters to honor the generals as a way to claw their way into favor or ministry, and I denounce that with everything in me.

We are not to look for a kingmaker in order to fulfill our ministry. Rather, we are to look to the King, our Maker, who has already anointed us, called us, and appointed us–and we are to be faithful to Him and to our call, between us and Him alone.

What then should be the sons’ and daughters’ motivation?

I believe that standing guard for the generals is our privilege and responsibility as sons and daughters who operate fully in our own anointing. Part of the anointing of true, mature sons and daughters is always to stand guard around and hold up the hands of the fathers and mothers who have been fighting so many years. Such is the Spirit of Elijah, described in Malachi 4:5-6:

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

But I do believe we are in a kairos season for the generals.

This season looks like three things:

1. Generals, you are receiving your inheritance.

I believe we are in an Isaiah 62:8-9 moment for the generals. Isaiah 62:8-9 says:

The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by the arm of His strength:

‘Surely I will no longer give your grain as food for your enemies; and the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored. But those who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the Lord; those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts.'”

Generals, you have fought long and have received a reward. However, the reward you have received has been nothing in proportion to the seed you have sown. You have plowed up the fallow ground, but the ground has not produced for you as you believed and knew it should have.

I believe the Lord is saying to you today that the time has come for your recompense.

You have only been rewarded a little bit, but the fullness of your reward is here. Your labors have borne a little fruit, but the days of fruitfulness in your vineyard have arrived.

2. Generals, the best parts of your former days plus the best parts of your current days are going to be poured out again together.

Joel 2:23 says:

Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you–the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.”

I believe we are in a season in which the rewards of the former season will be only the rootstock of the rewards of this season. The generals will suddenly see efforts of former years as being only the foundation for what God is doing now.

Generals, you will see the Lord combine the former rain’s harvest with the latter rain’s harvest and pour them out again together. You will see this with your own eyes. It is not only for your children; it is for you.

Your reward will benefit future generations, but your reward is for YOU; for “God is not unrighteous to overlook your work and labor of love which you have shown towards His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” It would be unrighteous for Him to fail to reward YOU, and ‘righteous’ is who He is. That means it is impossible for Him to fail to reward you personally for your labor for His name.

Generals, you will see many things come back to you in this season.

Things that were lost will now be found. Labors you thought were in vain will suddenly produce fruit–and again I say, it will happen suddenly!

3. Hidden generals will come to public view.

God has generals the world has not known like it should have, but He is bringing them to light in this hour. To the hidden generals, the Lord is saying:

“You have been hidden in the secret place with Me for so long that you have become too valuable an asset for me to hide anymore. You will stay hidden under the shadow of My wing, but I am going to flaunt you to the world. Your heart is pure and I trust you. The world is going to know the gold in you.”

Generals are arising in this hour with new life, new breath, and a new song.

The Lord is rewarding His generals. Generals, you will see the Lord’s armies come to you. You will see His hosts stand by your side. And you will know that the chariots and horsemen of the Lord with you are more than the chariots on the other side.

With love in Christ,

Jamie

Beautiful word! Wow!! It’s so tempting to join a bandwagon & serve an earthly General, but when your own gifting & anointing are not fully utilized, it grieves the Spirit. Thanks, Jamie!❤️

  2. Wow, I lost my job today on the same day that I’m starting an accelerator program for a new business. And now this word. I’m not sure if that applies to me, but I was in a very bad situation that I’m now free from. Only I’m not sure the direction I’m headed next. I need to find a way to support myself in the interim. Only God knows and can direct me. I’m leaving it in His Holy Hands.

    1. I am a witness He is the very manifestation of provision. Keep trusting Him, He is provide.

    Thank you Jamie , Amen.

  4. Thank you Jamie. I have had people say that they believe I am a general. I have definitely not been living as though this were the case. Am going through some inner healing at the moment. Perhaps then, I may begin to move into this more fully. It is not something I would necessarily choose for myself, yet I will hear and obey the voice of the Lord. His will His way. Not mine. I have not seen a lot of fruit for the many years of labour. This is true.

Great word Jamie. Lord help us all!!!

  5. Jamie,

I subscribe to your blog, but my best friend forwarded this to me today. I had no idea she subscribed to your blog, and she’s never forwarded one of your blog posts. Ever. She forwarded this one to me and wrote: “HS spoke to me. You are a General.” I’m just now able to read it, and I cried the whole time…for many reasons. Every word rang true. Thank you. Love you.

  6. Jamie ~ I seek the Lord’s direction in my life, and while I love Him first and above all, I do not feel worthy of being a General, no do I know that I am one. I’m still discovering my gifts and His purpose(s) for my life. How do I know if I’m a General? Is this title reserved for people in the ministry only? Perhaps if I don’t know, therein lies the answer?

    1. Hi Kiersten! In all honesty, if you don’t feel like you’re at the place of a general in your spiritual walk and level of influence, then you probably aren’t there yet. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t become one! Billy Sunday once said, “I want to be a general for God.” And he became one. Lou Engle prayed, many years ago, “Lord, [on a scale of 1-10 influence for God], give me a 10!” And the Lord granted his request. He is a general of fasting and prayer, and of more than that. 🙂 My point is: If you aren’t a general yet, aspire to become one over time! But even if you aren’t one yet, this word is still helpful for you because we should all be serving and holding up the hands of the generation that went ahead of us.
      Does this help?

    Hi Jamie
There is no blog that you send that I do not read . My Spirit is so lifted up , I feel so renewed , so encouraged Spiritually . I have printed out all the prayers that you send and I use them on relevant matters pertaining my life and the lives of my family members . Thank you Jamie .
Concerning the blog of forgiveness on the spirit of rejection and abandonment , that was a bomb , I made that list and pulled down those pole barns , woman of God I am telling you I am so light and relieved . Truly forgiveness is surely giving oneself a second chance in life and empowering oneself towards praising God without guilt shadows in one’s life . I am now busy with taking my Holy communion for Forty Days , this now feels like a heavenly therapy in my Spiritual life . Thank you for the recent blog on Hidden Generals . God bless you .

    Hi Jamie,
I saw this email and I literally exclaimed under my breath, “Wow”. The Lord revealed to me that I was going to become a general years ago and I was scared. I never heard of that term before spiritually, especially for a woman. But, God has shown Himself faithful to His word in my life and is bringing me out of “hiding”. SO, when I saw this email- I was just blown away. Now, after reading it, I see it is absolutely on target. Thank you for interceding for the Body like this and sharing your revelation. It is sowing so much into my life and bearing fruit quickly and the fruit will last and be profitable for me, you and many in the Kingdom for the Glory of the King! In Jesus’s name ,Amen!
