Welcome back to 10 Prayers for Every Storm! In Part 1 and Part 2, we discussed the first seven prayers that will help you get through every storm in your life. May I remind you, friend, that no matter what you are going through, friend, God is with you. He has a plan to bring you hope and advancement out of your pain.
And if you will pray in accordance with His will throughout your storm, He WILL bring you out of it–and you will be better off than you ever were before.
Now, let’s talk about the last three prayers. Without further ado …

Prayer 8: “May all my responses, words, actions, decisions, and thoughts be pleasing and acceptable in Your sight, such that You would get glory in my life from this storm.”
No matter what we are going through, our ultimate desire should be to glorify Jesus and honor Him. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 19:
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer” (Psalm 19:14 NKJV).
But friend, if you don’t ask God for help with these things, you may tend to walk in the flesh instead of the Spirit. That’s when you get grouchy, irritable, and discouraged. Worse yet, if you walk in the flesh, you’ll tend to go down into self-pity, doubt, and unbelief.
However, if we ask the Lord to help us walk in the Spirit at all times so that our responses, words, actions, decisions, and thoughts all glorify Him, our lives will look much different–even while the storm still rages. In that case, with His help, our lives will be filled with the fruit of the Spirit.

Look at the differences between the works of the flesh versus the fruit of the Spirit, as described in Galatians 5:
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:19-23 NKJV).
The differences there are pretty stark, wouldn’t you say? And not only are the works of the flesh displeasing to God while the fruit of the Spirit is pleasing to Him, but also it’s not fun to walk in the works of the flesh. The works of the flesh will make you miserable.
Being filled with joy, peace, love, goodness, et cetera, on the other hand, is good for the soul. These things are enjoyable and fun. They help you enjoy every day and keep a smile on your face. Three cheers for the fruit of the Spirit, eh?
Prayer 9: “Work everything in this situation out for my good, I pray, in Jesus’ name!”

Over Not Under: Financial Prosperity God’s Way
Do you want God to empower you to get wealth, as He promised in Deuteronomy 8:18? Then this book is for you!
Over Not Under will help you gain deep insight about God’s financial principles—and about how to activate His provision, blessing, and abundance in your life!
Sometimes we just don’t see how the storm could possibly have any good outcome. Nevertheless, we have the promise of God that your storm WILL work out for your good. Yes: the very nightmare you are going through right now will produce a POSITIVE change in your life.
As Holy Spirit told us in Romans 8:28:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV).

Therefore, friend, be encouraged! God never sends you out to battle unless He has a victory for you to win. He always brings you promotion from every struggle.
If it helps, also know this:
Over the years, I have found that, when the Lord allows you to be backed into a corner during your storm, seemingly with no way out, it is often because He wants you to take a different exit than you ever thought you would take. When you do take that different exit, it becomes obvious that the storm was just a tool in the hand of God that He wanted to use to promote you.
And by forcing your hand, compelling you to find a creative solution to the storm, you become better off than you ever were before. It’s all because He forced your hand and had you get out of your comfort zone.
So, what are you waiting for? Ask the Lord to work your storm out for your good today, for greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world! Your storm is not unknown to God, and He only allowed it to happen because He wants to use it for your good–and He will work it out for your good.

Prayer 10: “Bring this storm to an end when Your purposes for it have been fulfilled.”
In most storms, human nature is to think, “Lord, let me out! Make this storm cease!” However, that’s not always the best prayer.
If we can clear our head enough to see reality, we can see that our good, good Father only allows tests and trials for a purpose. And if we don’t “get it” the first time–if we don’t fully grasp the lessons He is trying to teach us during the storm–we may have to go around and around with the same mountain (or the same storm) again later, wandering in the wilderness like the Israelites did until we finally learn what we need to learn.
Of course, there is an alternative.
For the Israelites, the alternative to 40 years of wandering in the wilderness would have been to obey God and trust Him, resting in Him and believing Him. But no, they didn’t do that. And so they got to wander. (See Hebrews 3 for more on this.)
If, however, you and I want a different outcome …
… If we would prefer not to wander in the wilderness, walking through the same storm, for 40 years, thank you very much …
… Then we have to humble ourselves before the Lord. We have to ask Him to tie us to the altar if He has to, in order to keep us where He wants us. And we have to submit to His refining work until He is DONE with that refining work.
If we will stop using all our energy trying to get OUT of the storm, and instead focus our energy, thoughts, and prayers on being pleasing and acceptable to God during the storm, then we can make progress a lot faster. If we will sit alone with the Lord, digging deeply in His Word and inviting Him to perform surgery in our heart, then He can do what He needs to do faster.

Healing from Father Wounds
If any male authority figure has hurt you, that father wound can scar your life and keep you from drawing near to Father God. But, Jesus wants to heal you from all of that today. In Healing from Father Wounds: An Orphan No More, Jamie teaches you how to receive your healing and the Father’s blessing from the Lord.
Yes: If we humble ourselves before Him, drawing nearer to Him during the storm than we ever were before …
… then He can show us what He needs to show us a lot sooner than if we just fight against His goads the whole time. And that submission to His process is what allows Him to conform us to the image of Christ.
Therefore, during your storm, I highly recommend that you pray something like this:
“Father God, I know You are only allowing this to happen to me because You’re going to use it for Your purpose. Please do that. Help me to fully submit to Your refining work during this storm. But, Father, at the very moment Your purpose has been fulfilled, please bring me out of this wilderness, walking on Jesus’ arm, and shining with the victory that Jesus purchased for me on the cross!”
Yes, you will come up out of the wilderness, my friend. And you’ll be leaning on Jesus when you do. As it says in Song of Solomon:
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?” (Song of Solomon 8:5a NKJV).
But, it’s important not to try and circumvent the process. Your storm is an opportunity to shine like gold. Don’t cut off God’s purposes in it by trying to get out of it prematurely.
At the same time, however, it is good to ask the Lord to end the storm as soon as His purposes have been met. You can pray both ways and trust Him with the process!
In closing, beloved, I want to remind you of Ecclesiastes 3:11:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NKJV).
Friend, I know the storm is painful. I know it tempts one to cry out, “Why, God, why? When, God, when? How, God, how? And why aren’t You answering me and doing what I asked You to, like You said You would?!”
However, may I remind you: God is with you in your storm.
As long as you are not regarding (cherishing, protecting, admiring, keeping) iniquity in your heart, He is hearing your prayers. (See Psalm 66:18.) He does have a purpose for this storm; He is too good to have allowed it otherwise.
And if you will trust Him, seek His face, and ask Him for wisdom, He will lead you on. You may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, but it is only a shadow. The TRUTH of the matter is that no evil can befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling if you abide in Jesus and dwell in the secret place with Him.
So, my friend, pray these 10 prayers for every storm.
Seek the face of the Lord morning and noon and night. While you do:
- Implore Him to give you wisdom, strength, courage, hope, and motivation to keep walking through the storm in a godly way.
- Invite Him to take up His holy throne over your heart and life every single day.
- Fully surrender your heart to Him even during the storm, inviting the Potter to mold you and shape you, and to make you a fit vessel for His service–conforming you daily to the image of Christ.
And when the storm is over, He will promote you. You will be better off than you ever were before. You will come up from the wilderness, leaning upon JESUS, the Author and Finisher of your faith.
