10 Prayers for Every Storm | by jamie Rohrbaugh | FromHisPresence.com

Beloved, are you being buffeted by the onslaught of proverbial winds and waves right now? If so, today I want to share with you ten prayers for every storm. But first, dear friend, I want to remind you of this:

Even if you are hanging on by a thread …

… even if you are begging Jesus to rescue you, as your fingernails cling to your last shred of hope

… you are NOT alone. Jesus is with you, and He sympathizes with you. He knows just how you feel.

Look at what the Bible tells us in Hebrews chapter 4:

“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16 NKJV).

    Read the series!

Jesus understands. You are not alone. And He is ready and willing to help you. All you have to do is come boldly before the throne of grace, that you may obtain mercy, and find grace to HELP in time of need.

If you could use some help knowing what to ask when you’re before the throne of grace (meaning, when you start to pray boldly to the Father), consider praying these 10 prayers for your storm today:

Prayer 1: “Father, help me to keep my eyes on Jesus during this whole storm, no matter how long the storm lasts.”

Every storm ends eventually. But, the Lord doesn’t usually tell us the duration of any storm in advance. Nevertheless, no matter how long the Lord sees fit to allow us to go through seasons of training, training, testing, and trials, our job is still to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus the entire time.

As the Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:1-2:

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV).

    And Colossians 3 says:

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2 NKJV).

So, ask the Lord today to help you keep your eyes on Him. Keeping your eyes on Jesus will help you stay encouraged during the toughest storms.

Prayer 2: “Help me to learn what I need to learn in this season, so I don’t have to repeat this test.”

When the Israelites left Egypt, it should have been only about an 11-day trip for them to get to the Promised Land. (See Deuteronomy 1:2.) However, they murmured, grumbled, and complained in the desert. They sinned against God by refusing to trust God and rest in Him, according to Hebrews chapter 3.

So, God made them wander in the wilderness for 40 years so they could see His work and learn to trust Him. That was definitely tough love! As it says in Numbers 32:

“So the Lord’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone” (Numbers 32:13 NKJV).

The purpose of their years of wandering was for them to SEE God’s works and learn to trust Him. (See Hebrews 3:7-15.) Beloved, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to wander in the wilderness. I would rather just trust God from the get-go, and not have to wander. Wouldn’t you?

If so, ask the Lord to help you learn everything He needs you to learn during your storm, so you don’t have to repeat any of it later. 🙂

Prayer 3: “Please comfort me by Your Holy Spirit. Help me to know and experience Your comfort in ways I have never known it before.”

God’s Holy Spirit is our Comforter. And if you have given your life to Jesus, then He–the Holy Spirit, our Comforter–lives inside you right now. And He is ready, willing, and eager to comfort you, no matter what your affliction is.

Check out what the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1, and remember that these words were breathed out by Holy Spirit Himself:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV).

Our Abba Father is the Father of mercies. He is the God of all comfort. And He comforts us in alllllllll our tribulation. Therefore, you can ask Him to comfort you right now.

Not only that, but you can implore Him to send His comfort deeper into your soul than you have ever felt it before.

Beloved, I want you to know that you are going to come out of this storm–and you are going to be okay.

Remember, your problems have a shelf life. Also, the Lord has promised us that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning! You ARE going to come up from this wilderness, and you’re going to be leaning on your beloved Jesus when you do. As it says in the Song of Solomon:

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?” (Song of Solomon 8:5a NKJV).

O my friend, I know you may be hurting, troubled, dazed, or confused right now. Perhaps problems have beset you that you never anticipated and never imagined would happen to you. But if you will cling to Jesus, He will carry you through.
