Prayer 4: “Send angels to watch over me and minister to me, and to work in everything that concerns me, according to Your will.”

God has heavenly beings that He created called angels. They are at His disposal, and they respond to the voice of His Word (whether it comes out of His mouth or His written Word out of your mouth). They are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to God’s people, as we read in Hebrews 1:

“But to which of the angels has He ever said: ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool’? Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:13-14 NKJV).

The ministry of angels is all over the Bible.

Angels even ministered to Jesus when He was in agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, right before He was crucified. And remember that Jesus lived His life as Spirit-filled man. What God did to help Jesus, He will also do to help other Spirit-filled people. He sends angels to watch over all His children.

So do you need angelic assistance? Do you need strength in your body? Do you need courage? Do you perhaps even need an angel to bring you a message directly from the throne of God?

Ask the Lord to dispatch His angels to you if you do. Speak God’s Word over yourself. And the Lord will send His angels to minister to you and help you.

Prayer 5: “Help me to praise You and thank You continually during this storm, no matter how I feel.”

When you’re going through a difficult season, sometimes it’s easier to complain than it is to praise God and thank Him. Nevertheless, complaining is always bad (according to the Bible); 🙂 but giving thanks is always good.

In fact, we are supposed to give thanks to God for absolutely everything–including thanking Him for the hard times! As we read in 1 Thessalonians 5:

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV).

Nevertheless, beloved, we can do nothing without Jesus–and we can do everything WITH Him. As we read here:

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV).

    And also:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).

So, we need His help to give thanks.

That’s why I recommend that you pray and specifically ask Him to help you give thanks during your storm. Giving thanks for hard times is definitely not anybody’s fleshly tendency! And sometimes our difficult circumstances eclipse our remembrance of how holy God is, and how He is WORTHY to be praised, no matter what.

Therefore, if we’re going to walk in the Spirit, we have to ask the Father to help us do so.

    Healing from Father Wounds

If any male authority figure has hurt you, that father wound can scar your life and keep you from drawing near to Father God. But, Jesus wants to heal you from all of that today. In Healing from Father Wounds: An Orphan No More, Jamie teaches you how to receive your healing and the Father’s blessing from the Lord.

And when we ask, He will empower us by His grace to thank Him and praise Him all day long, regardless of how dark things look in your life right now. His grace is sufficient for us, even when we need help keeping a positive attitude.

As it says in 2 Corinthians:

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV).

After all, He is still worthy to be praised and thanked, no matter what we’re going through in any season. He is still good, and His mercy endures forever.

Prayer 6: “Help me to take purposeful steps to renew my faith, so that my faith remains strong and stands firm, no matter what I am going through.”

Faith is a precious treasure. God gives every person a measure of faith, but it’s up to us to steward it well. It’s even up to us to grow in faith. But, again, we need Jesus’ help to do even that.

You can do many different kinds of things to renew your faith. For example, you could:

Harness the Power of Fasting and Prayer

Are you experiencing spiritual warfare? Strike back with the atomic spiritual weapon of fasting!

In this ebook, Jamie teaches practical tips for how to fast successfully and actually enjoy it. This book is full of miracle promises, prayer tips, eating tips, advice about FREEDOM FROM LEGALISM, and so much more.

    • Spend extra time hiding God’s Word in your heart. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the on-time, Spirit-ministered, rhema (prophetic) word of God. And if you spend extra time in Bible study, asking for Holy Spirit’s help to understand His Word–and asking Him to speak to you out of it–then He will speak, and His words will build your faith.
    • Preach yourself happy. This always has a tremendous effect on me if I’m depressed or discouraged! Remind yourself of God’s Word by testifying to it, and you will find your mood and faith rise up quickly.
    • Fast and pray. When Jesus said “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (see Matthew 17), He wasn’t talking about “this kind of demon.” He was talking about “this kind of faith”–faith that is strong enough to cast out demons. If you want to build your faith, fasting and praying with a right heart will work wonders every time.
    • Speak the Word over yourself. When you speak God’s Word out loud into the atmosphere, it changes everything. And after even a few Scriptures that you speak out, your faith will start roaring.
    • Praying in the Spirit in your prayer language (speaking in tongues). This is a huge way to build yourself up in your most holy faith!

But no matter which approach you take, you’ve got to do the work to build your faith. Remember what Jude wrote:

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 1:20-21 NKJV).

Prayer 7: “Help me to renew my mind with the truth of Your Word every day, so I do not ever give in to the enemy’s lies.”

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him. God will fight for you and defend you. But, you do have to renew your mind, so that you only focus on and believe GOD’S truth, and not the enemy’s lies.

As we read in Romans 12:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV).

So, how do you renew your mind in God’s truth? Again, just a few examples:

    • You eat massive amounts of the Word by studying it throughout your day.
    • You spend focused, concentrated time studying the Word.
    • You meditate on God’s Word and speak it over yourself.
    • Even worship (focused on Jesus, Who is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life) will help you renew your mind.

Doing these things helps you focus on truth, and you’re going to need to abide in God’s TRUTH if you want to win the battle you’re in.

But, even though you have to do the work and make the effort, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, it still helps to ask the Lord for His help. It’s just an eternal fact that we can do nothing without Jesus, so imploring Him for His help is essential in every situation.
