Feel Forgotten, Overwhelmed, or Hopeless? Pray This

Beloved, if you feel forgotten, overwhelmed, or hopeless, I wrote a prayer for you to pray today.

If you do feel forgotten, overwhelmed, or hopeless, you are not alone. The Lord our God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. As it says in Hebrews 13:5-6:

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say:

‘The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?

And Deuteronomy 31:6 says this:

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV).

Even when things feel hopeless, our Father will hear and answer your prayer of faith.

Your faith doesn’t have to be roaring, but it does have to be persistent. 🙂 Stubborn faith, expressed to God in faith-filled yet truthful and humble prayer, will make all the difference in the world.

Consider what the Lord tells us in Hebrews 4:16:

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV).

When we come boldly before God’s throne in prayer, even when we need His mercy and grace because we have nothing in and of ourselves, He will hear us and help us. He will give us the mercy and grace to help in time of need.

So if you’re in a time of need today–and especially if you’re feeling forgotten, overwhelmed, hopeless, or even frustrated–won’t you pray this prayer with me?

Let’s pray as follows:

“Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before You in Jesus’ name. Father, thank You for hearing me pray today. Thank You for loving me and taking care of me. I praise You for Your faithfulness to me.

Abba Father, please help me to pray right now. I ask in Jesus’ name that Your Holy Spirit would intercede through me and for me with moanings and groanings which cannot be uttered, and You who know the hearts will know what His prayer means.

Father, I’ve been struggling with such darkness for so long.

Darkness is not my old friend, and I don’t want it to accompany me anymore. I want to bask in the joy of the Lord, and in Your presence to find fullness of joy.

But Father, the troubles and cares I am experiencing feel so heavy. The weight is crushing me, and I feel sometimes like You aren’t helping me very much–at least, not like Your Word promises that You will help.

But Father, even though I don’t know what to do, my eyes are still on You.

I’ve come too far with You to go back. I know You, and I know You are faithful. I don’t always understand what You do, or why You do what You do. I don’t always understand why I’m not seeing the level of help Your Word promises. But I know You are holy and true, and I’ve committed my life to serving You even if You don’t do what I want You to do.

But Father, please keep me stable during this time. I am really struggling here.

Lord, please help me. Come up under my emotions and comfort me. Help me to see how You are working. Fill me with hope and joy and peace again while I believe You.

I do believe You, God … but I am just really struggling with discouragement and hopelessness right now. But Your Word says that I can come to You, for I am weary and heavy laden, and You will give me rest. Please do that for me now, for I am coming to You. Please give me rest.

Father God, I cannot provide for myself. I cannot keep myself. I cannot perfect anything that concerns me.

But You can:

• You can and will provide for all my needs, even when You esteem my real needs to be fewer than I do. Even when I “think” I need something but I really don’t, You still take care of me while You show me that with food and clothing I should therefore be content.
• You can keep me and sustain me. You can keep my mind; You can help me set my mind and keep it set on things above, where Christ is, seated at Your right hand.
• You can preserve my soul: my mind, will, and emotions. I cannot do this myself, for my emotions are all running amok. But You can keep me stable and fixed under the shadow of the Most High.

Holy Father, please keep through Your name this child–me!–who depends solely on You.

I have nothing in heaven or on earth but You, Lord Jesus. And Abba Father, You and You alone sustain me and keep me alive. There is none I desire beside You! I just do not have the capacity to live for You like I want to, unless You help me.

So Father, I beg You today in Jesus’ name, even though I know I don’t have to beg–but I’m pouring my heart out to You:

• Put fear and panic far from me. Make me perfect in Your perfect love, which casts out fear.
• Let Your grace roar through my body, soul, and spirit, lifting me up and setting my feet upon the solid rock.
• Establish my comings and my goings.
• If I have been making any decisions that are not from You, convict me and correct me. Change my heart and change what I do. Instruct me and teach me and lead me in the way You desire me to go. Please forgive me for any sins I have committed against You, Father, and for any ways I have strayed from your paths, if any.
• Please help me to have hope again, Lord Jesus. Help me to find my hope in You, and You alone; for You alone are unchangeable and unmoving.

God, I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on You.

Please help me to pass this test with flying colors. I feel like I’m failing You and the people around me every day. Please help me to cling to You and obey You, come what may.

No matter what happens, please keep me and preserve me and bless me again. Keep and preserve the people I love, and bless them again too. Use me on this earth to accomplish everything You have called me to do.

Give me wisdom and understanding, and live this life through me, Jesus, for I cannot live it alone and I don’t even want to try.

Thank You, Abba Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Beloved, if things seem dark and hopeless right now, the Lord will still help you.

It may seem like you don’t know where to get the strength to draw your next breath, but Jesus is right there with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Draw boldly before the throne of grace today, and you will obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
