How to Get Free from a “Spirit Spouse”

Beloved, are you being sexually molested by demons–or do you know somebody who is? Too many people have told me over the years that they are experiencing this, and it’s time for the people of God to get free from this. If you need to get free from a “spirit spouse,” please read this article carefully as we expose the works of darkness with the light of God, the Word of God, and the blood of Jesus Christ.

There is a great evil being worked by some so-called Christian ministers upon unsuspecting believers: that of the demonology of a “spirit spouse.” In the name of Jesus, I utterly denounce any authority of a “spirit spouse” to be in your life—and I want to tell you today based on the Word of God how you can be free of it, if you are being sexually molested by demons.

Before we talk about how to be free of a demon that is telling you it is your “spirit spouse,” let me say this:

I love you deeply in the Lord, my friend. I’m very protective of our readers, and I HATE evil of any kind. Therefore, I hate it when evil is worked upon you: when you are being attacked, lied to, bound in fear, touched wrongly, or any other evil thing the enemy tries to do. And I want to see you live totally free, because Jesus wants you to be free.

So, when I talk about these things and how to get free from them—including a big open door to the enemy (written about below) that I think may not be obvious, which many people might not have considered—it’s not because I’m mad at you. (I’m not mad.) I am instead indignant on your behalf, because I love you; and I am trying to protect you by sharing some keys to deliverance and freedom in the name of Jesus Christ, and by His blood.

With that said, my beloved friend, let’s first remind one another:

Jesus actually paid for our freedom with His Own blood, and His sacrifice was a perfect sacrifice.

The blood of Jesus paid for you to be redeemed (bought back from the slave market of sin) in every aspect of your life. His sacrifice covered everything. And because Jesus’ sacrifice was truly all-sufficient, we can boldly say:

Jesus saves. He heals. He delivers. He raises you up to walk in newness of life, and it’s easy.

It’s vital to understand and remember what grace does for you, and what the power that is in the name of Jesus does for you; as well how powerful is the authority of the believer who has given his or her life to Jesus Christ, making Him the Lord and Savior, Boss and Master of their life.

If you have given your life to Christ, making Him your Lord and Savior, then you can carry and wield the authority Jesus has given you in His name. And at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

As it says in the book of Philippians:

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV).

There is no other truth other than this, and even the apostle Paul took great pains to teach us so.

Galatians 1:3-9 points out specifically that Jesus’ death was to deliver us from all evil, and that there are some who want to pervert the Gospel of Christ:

“Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:3-9 NKJV).

I don’t know the names of the individual people who are teaching that you can have a “spirit spouse,” and I don’t want to know their names. BUT, I do know that there are so-called Christian teachers out there who are teaching that demons can attach themselves to you as a “spirit spouse,” and the problem is that they AREN’T teaching you that these demons have NO right or power to do such a thing, and that the whole thing is illegal in the Kingdom.

There is no truth about God or life or the spirit world other than what is written and clearly described in the Word of God.

And God’s Word tells us plainly that JESUS is the ultimate authority, and that His name is the name that is above every name. Therefore, if you are being sexually molested by demons, you can be free of it right now. You don’t have to put up with it any longer.

To build your faith in the name of Jesus for this, and to get you to that place of freedom, let’s walk through the following Biblical keys to freedom right now:

Key 1: The devil and his minions cannot tell the truth.

Therefore, no matter what the devil or a demon says to you–even if it is telling you that it is your spirit spouse–it is LYING to you. Jesus said this Himself:

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44 NKJV).

The devil’s resources include all that is at his disposal, including demons. There is NO truth in the devil, nor in any of his resources. All that he has are lies. So, know first that if any evil thing is telling you that it has chosen you, or that it is your spirit spouse–that in and of itself is automatically a lie!

We discuss this in more detail below, when we talk about a not-very-obvious open door to the enemy that you might have opened up without meaning to, and without realizing it was an open door.

Key 2: The devil and all of his demons are subject to the name of Jesus.

There is no demon that has any special rights or powers above the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the most powerful name in Heaven and earth, and at the name of Jesus EVERY knee must bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Look again at the passage from Philippians that I quoted above:

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV).

Every knee must bow. Every tongue must confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. This includes every demon’s knee and every demon’s tongue. And EVERY demon, without exception, must bow the knee to Christ and obey Him, leaving wherever they are in the name of Jesus if you tell that demon to go.

Key 3: A curse without a cause cannot alight, and that means that a demon–the presence of which is certainly a curse and not a blessing–cannot enter your life without an open door.

Proverbs 26:2 says:

“Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight” (Proverbs 26:2 NKJV).

Being molested by a demon is certainly an accursed thing, a curse; it is not a blessing. But since a curse without a cause cannot alight, that means the enemy can’t get to you unless you open a door for him to do so.

(Don’t worry, we’ll talk below about what that open door might be—and, again: you might be surprised at what you read.)

Beloved, if you have given your life to Jesus, you belong to Christ and you are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ. You are the righteousness of God in Christ. And the enemy has no access to you unless you give it to him. That means that none of his minions—the demons—can access your life either, unless you give them permission, whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Key 4: So what could the open doors be?

The obvious open doors that we talk about with any kind of demonic oppression are below, but I also want to talk about one less obvious manifestation of an open door to the enemy—and I think that less-obvious open door could be a big key for you.

The three categories of open door to the enemy, in general, are:

1. Unconfessed sin;
2. Unhealed hurts and wounds; and
3. Unforgiveness.

Now, if any of these three immediately resonate with you, then Holy Spirit is already showing you where to take action.

But, if you have already done all you know to do to confess all your sin to the Lord and receive His forgiveness; to get healed from all your hurts and wounds so that you can keep your eyes on Jesus, instead of on your pain; and if you have forgiven every single person who has ever hurt you and forgiven them from your heart, as I teach you how to do in this article, then you might still say:

“But I’ve done all that! And this thing still isn’t going away!”

And if that is the case for you, then look at these two less-obvious potential open doors:

1. It could be that something evil is in your house, the presence of which is opening a door to the enemy; or
2. Your very belief in the possibility of a demon “spirit spouse” IS actually an open door to the devil that the devil is using to oppress and molest you. And it may be the only open door you have left, if you have closed all the other open doors to the enemy that the Lord has shown you.

Hear me out on this:

For the first less-obvious open door (something evil being in your house), it happens all the time and people don’t realize it. I’m not saying you don’t love God in this case, but people just don’t always put two and two together to apply the Scriptures practically.

For example, Philippians 4:8-9 says:

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV).

What’s my point with this Scripture? Simply this:

People unwittingly let demons in their houses all the time without realizing or admitting that they are doing so. And it happens because of disobedience against God (which is sin)–often a type of disobedience we don’t realize we are committing.

Specifically, we are commanded in the Scriptures to only look at and think about (meditate on) things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. However, I challenge you to examine a few things:

• What are you watching on TV? Are you watching crime shows, detective shows, sex, fornication, cursing, shows that make fun of people, shows where lying happens, or watching people sin in ANY kind of way at all on the screen? If so, you’re letting demons into your house.
• What are you watching on your social media reels/videos? Same as above.
• What are you thinking about, even when no one is looking?
• What movies and books are on your shelf or device? Is there a movie present in your house that has sex outside of marriage in it, or lying or cheating or stealing or murder or cursing or any other such thing?
• What people are you allowing into your house?

If ANY kind of sin is present in your house, or is passing by your eye-gate, ear-gate, mouth-gate, or any other kind of gate at all, you are opening the door to demons. And if you are having nightmares, being molested by demons, or having any other kind of demonic oppression happening to you, you have to cleanse your house and get rid of all that stuff (read here to learn how to cleanse your house)—including ditching watching your favorite true crime shows, or fake crime shows, or pornography, or lewd romance novels, or lewd romcoms, or anything at all that contains sin.

Sin opens the door to demons, and you will keep getting oppressed if you purposefully allow sin in your house. Stop and ask Holy Spirit if there is anything in your home that depicts these things. If there is, get rid of it!

But secondly, I believe this next thing is the biggest open door to the enemy if you are being molested by demons or a “spirit spouse”:

The mere belief that a “spirit spouse” is even a possibility for you is a HUGE open door to the enemy!

Friend, I love you with all my heart. I just want to see you get free. And in order to see you get free, I have to be very clear with you and tell you that this demonic doctrine of a “spirit spouse” IS just that: a demonic doctrine! It is a LIE being perpetuated upon the people of God by so-called pastors or other leaders who appear to me to be more concerned with fear, control, and sensationalism than they are with the Word of God!

Why? Because the Word is clear: demons have NO authority in your life! And they have to GO when you rebuke them in Jesus’ name!

However, there are people out there who are getting a lot of attention paid to them through their teaching about this so-called doctrine of oppression by spirit spouses, and a spirit spouse is NOT A THING according to God’s Word! Therefore, even the mere belief that it could happen to you IS actually the door that got opened to let the thing in! In a very literal way, “according to your faith be it unto you!”

A demon might tell you that it has chosen you as its “spirit spouse,” but look at what JESUS says about the devil in John 8:44:

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44 NKJV).

JESUS Himself taught us here that the devil does NOT speak truth. The devil actually cannot speak any truth at all, because there is no truth in him. The devil is a liar and the father of lies. So everything that is the devil or from the devil, including demons, is a LIE.

That means, beloved friend, if some demon told you that it was your “spirit spouse,” it was LYING to you.

And if you believed it, right there you opened the door for it to come in.

Why? Because, again, according to the Word of God, the enemy has no legal right to enter your life AT ALL, unless you give the enemy that right. And anytime his mouth is moving, he’s lying. Automatically, you can know that anything that comes from the devil is a LIE.

Therefore, if the devil or any demon says that he/it is choosing you as a “spirit spouse,” what REALLY happened in that moment is that the enemy told you a lie, and (possibly because of fear, or maybe because of erroneous teaching) you believed it, and that belief in the lie (which is sin) opened the door to the enemy right in that moment! And that right there is the open door of unconfessed sin, even though you might not have ever realized this is what it was!

Beloved, you belong to GOD, and God alone–and you have to know that you know that you know that you know you are God’s, in order to walk in freedom.

Look at 1 Corinthians 6:15-20:

“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:15-20 NKJV, emphasis mine).

O my friend, I want you to get free—but, to do that, you have to know the TRUTH.

Look at God’s Word says in John chapter 8:

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’” (John 8:31-32 NKJV).

When the enemy was tempting Jesus in the desert, Jesus kept repeating, “It is written ….” And then finally, when He had had enough and the Father told Him it was time, He said, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

Well, beloved, when Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross for you and for me, resurrecting from the grave three days later, it was written in the books of God for all eternity that NOW is the time of your freedom and deliverance. NOW is the time for you to be free, healed, delivered, and to walk without oppression or bondage of any type. Why? Because “It is written!” Because the Word of God says you can!

But to walk in freedom, you have to look at where your faith is placed. Are you believing only truth?

Do you believe that you can be oppressed just by being in a place where demons were? Then that’s what will happen to you!

Friend, let me tell you this: I have to stay in hotel rooms all the time because I travel so much for ministry. But you know what? Every time I go into a hotel room, knowing full well that any kind of evil might have happened in that room, I say this out loud:

“In the name of Jesus, I speak to every evil spirit in this suite of rooms, airspace, and atmosphere, and I say to you: LEAVE, in Jesus’ name! Father God, please fill this suite of rooms, airspace, and atmosphere with Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name!”

And you know what? As soon as I walk in the hotel room and command every evil thing to leave, just like that and in the name of Jesus, you can feel those foul things leave! You can feel the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit enter the room and flood it with His peace and grace! And I have total peace being there from that moment forward.

Why? Because I used my authority in the name of Jesus—authority which you also have, if you have given your life to Him and made Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior!

O my friend, NOTHING can stand up to the name of Jesus! And there is no demon spirit in hell or on earth that is strong enough to stay when you command it to leave in Jesus’ name!

So, let’s look again at these truths:

1. You belong to Christ, not to a demon.
2. Your body, soul, and spirit are all Christ’s, and you are joined to Christ and Christ alone.
3. Demons have no authority over you. Instead, YOU have authority over them in Jesus’ name.
4. A demon cannot tell the truth. Any thought or words that come from a demon are automatically lies.
5. A curse without a cause cannot alight. A demon cannot access you or your life without an open door to do so.
6. If you believed the lies that the demon offered you—those lies that said the demon could choose you; lies that said it could oppress you; lies that said it had joined itself to you—then right there, in that moment of believing those lies, you unwittingly opened a door to the enemy. (The door of unconfessed sin, because believing anything other than the truth of God’s Word is a sin.)
7. You’ve got to close that door, as well as any other open doors to the enemy that may be present in your life. Why? So that the curse can no longer alight.

So how do you close the door to the enemy?

Here are the steps:

1. Confess to God that you believed the lies the enemy fed you—lies that said the enemy had any claim or hold on you at all, or could claim you, or could “marry” you, or that there is even such a thing as an actual “spirit spouse.”
2. Confess to God that you admit that all of these things are LIES, and are not in line with the truth of Jesus Christ as written in the inerrant, infallible Word of God.
3. Tell the Lord that you repent for believing all of the lies the enemy told you, even if they were taught to you by so-called Christian leaders. Speak each lie that you believed out loud to God and repent for it out loud!
4. Ask the Lord to forgive you, and remember 1 John 1:9, which says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NKJV).
5. SPEAK OUT LOUD as follows: “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I speak to every evil spirit in this house, property, airspace, and atmosphere, and I say, “LEAVE and never return! IN JESUS’ NAME!”
6. Ask the Father to fill you with His Holy Spirit where all those things were. Also, ask Him to fill your house, property, airspace, and atmosphere with His Holy Spirit, and to surround you and the place where you are with His angels, to protect you and minister to you.
7. Speak the truth out loud and confess it to the Lord: that you belong to Christ; that you bind yourself only to Him; that no weapon formed against you will prosper; that the enemy has no access to your life because you are the Bride of Christ and you are bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. Confess also that God’s Holy Spirit fills you; that Jesus lives in you; that you are crucified with Christ, therefore you no longer live and Jesus Christ now lives in you, and that the life you now live you live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved you and still loves you and gave Himself for you. (See Galatians 2:20.)
8. Reject and renounce any soul ties with that demon, which would only have been formed based out of fear. (Meaning, I know you didn’t want the spirit spouse–but soul ties can still form if you fear the demon.) Read here for how to break unholy soul ties.

And then, if you accidentally open another door to the enemy and oppression EVER happens again, don’t hesitate! Speak to that demon IMMEDIATELY and COMMAND it to leave, in Jesus’ name! It HAS to flee when you tell it to go, and it cannot return unless you let it!

O my beloved friend, Jesus paid the price for you to be free of all demonic oppression.

Nothing evil has a right to attach itself to you unless you allow it, and everything evil has to leave when you tell it to go in the name of Jesus. And if you will do the steps above, you will be enforcing the authority that you have through faith in His name–the lovely and wonderful and powerful and MATCHLESS name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
