Beloved, I don’t know about you, but I need God and His help more than I have ever needed Him before.
I don’t just need God’s help; I need HIM. I need Him, for He is everything to me. His presence is everything to me. Only in my Father’s presence are things made right, and only in His presence do I see with Spirit eyes. And in addition to all that, my very existence–and yours too!–comes from Him. I need Him to manifest Himself to me today more than any other day, and I need His help too.
Can you identify?
In times like these, when you feel like you’re being burned in the fires of adversity, your flesh often wants to pitch a fit.
When you don’t understand why God does what He does, or doesn’t do what He doesn’t do, or allows what He allows, it can be very hard to stay steady in your faith and courage. But I’ve come too far with God to look back.
Oh, my flesh would love to walk away from Him sometimes. My flesh would love to pitch a fit and say, “If You don’t do what I want You to do, then You’re not worth serving.”
But the fact is, God doesn’t work for me.
God does not exist to do my will, my bidding, or my pleasure. I exist for Him, and at His pleasure. It is in Him that all things consist. And He is worthy of my worship and adoration, whether I like what He’s doing/allowing in my life right now or not.
But we can still ask Him to help us. We can still ask Him to do wonders on our behalf.
Psalm 136:1-4 says this:
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:1-4 NKJV, emphasis mine).
Our God is He who alone does great wonders.
He is the only One in the entire universe who works wonders. And not only does He do wonders, but He does great wonders. He’ll do them for you, and He’ll do them for me.
Remember what Jesus said in Luke 12:32:
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32 NKJV).

God loves to do great things for us. He wants to work signs and wonders on our behalf. But we do have to believe Him without doubting, for James chapter 1 teaches us that we won’t receive anything if we doubt:
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:2-8 NKJV).
So can you believe our good, good Father to work wonders on your behalf today? If so, pray this prayer for wonders:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.
Father, I want to bless You. Thank You for Your mercy, which endures forever. Thank You for forgiving my sins and filling me with Your Holy Spirit.
Thank You for taking care of me every single day, every moment of my life–even when I feel like You aren’t. My feelings don’t dictate truth, Father; Your Word dictates truth. And Your Word says You and Jesus and Your Holy Spirit are with me always, even to the end of the world.
Abba, I praise You for Your faithfulness. I praise You for Your Holy Spirit in me, helping me pray right now. I praise You for Your great mercy and provision. I praise You for Your goodness.
Father, Your Word says that You alone do GREAT WONDERS.
I’m calling upon You today, Father, and I’m asking You to answer me and show me GREAT and MIGHTY things, which I do not know. Lord God of Heaven and earth, I need You to do great wonders on my behalf today.
Your Word says that You will perfect all things that concern me. You see my concerns, Father. I have been battling anxiety over these things, for I cannot handle them myself–and it seems like You have been helping, but only in a meager way.
Father, You are not a God of meager. You are not a God of lack. You are God who alone does wonders–and not just little wonders, at that. You do great wonders.
Therefore, dearest Heavenly Father, I implore You: please do great wonders on my behalf today.
I cannot exist without You. I cannot go on without Your help and intervention. I cannot continue doing what I’m doing, for my shoulders are not broad enough and I am not strong enough to bear this burden.
I need You to show up with great wonders, and I need those great wonders quickly, Father.
Please help me. Please send great wonders quickly and send them today.
Please take these burdens off of me, for I cannot carry them and I no longer want to. I will serve You anyway, Father, because I’ve come too far in You to look back.
Even when I don’t understand You, I know You are faithful. Even when I am angry or upset at the way You do things, You are still good–and You are still faithful.
But I’m crying out in desperation to You, Abba, and I ask You to do great and mighty wonders on my behalf today. Thank You, Abba Father. I choose to stand in faith and believe that You have heard my prayer.
And if there is any spiritual warfare in the heavenlies over the manifest answers to my prayer, like there was in Daniel chapter 10, I pray that You would send King Jesus Christ Himself to cut through the warfare, win the battles, and enforce the victory that He purchased for me on the cross with His precious blood.
Father, You are God who alone does great wonders. Thank You for the wonders You are doing on my behalf today.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
