17 Results of Wisdom In Your Life | by Jamie Rohrbaugh | FromHisPresence.com

Welcome to Part 2 of our series 17 Results of Wisdom In Your Life! In this series, we are studying the fruit and results of wisdom that are listed in Proverbs chapter 8.

To recap, wisdom is important because the Bible tells us that wisdom is the first and primary thing you should get:

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).

It took me a long time of studying to finally realize why; but, eventually Holy Spirit showed me that He Himself is wisdom. And wisdom, manifest, is Holy Spirit applying Himself to your situation.

Today, I want to share several more benefits you get when you have the Lord’s wisdom in your life.

Most of these are found in Proverbs 8:12-35, but some are also found elsewhere. This is not by any means an all-inclusive list, either; but these 17 results (or fruit) of wisdom will definitely rock your world when you ask the Lord to give you wisdom.

We already covered Results 1-4 in Post #1 of this series here. Today, we’ll address Results 5-8. Here we go:

The Lord preached the Kingdom in Proverbs long before Jesus ever came to earth to preach it in person. #GetWisdom | meme | by Jamie Rohrbaugh | FromHisPresence.com

    5. When you get wisdom, you’ll start receiving wise counsel into your life.

    Proverbs 8:12 says:

I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge and discretion.

Then, Proverbs 8:14 continues by saying:

“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.”

The whole key to this is, again, understanding that Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom; He is Wisdom Personified. And when the Lord gives you wisdom (which He will do anytime you ask), then the wisdom manifest in your life is Holy Spirit manifesting Himself to you, and applying Himself to your situation.

Well, remember who Jesus said Holy Spirit is? Let’s look at what Jesus told us in John 16:12-15 about Holy Spirit:

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:12-15).

In John 14:16-17, Jesus also said:

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever–the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

    And finally, 1 John 2:27:

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” (1 John 2:27).

You can see from these passages that Holy Spirit is promised to us as a Teacher. He is our Teacher, Instructor, Counselor, and Guide, as well as many other things! Therefore, when you get wisdom …

… Which means you get filled with the Holy Spirit of wisdom, God Himself …

Then He starts counseling you! He begins instructing you! As He promised in one of my favorite Scripture passages:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye” (Psalm 32:8).

My friend, God loves you so much that He WANTS to help you.

    With everything.

He wants to teach you, lead you, guide you, and help you walk in the way you should go. And as soon as you begin praying for wisdom, God will give you wisdom. His Holy Spirit will speak to you and counsel you so that you’ll always know what you should do and when you should do it. All that’s left is for you to obey Him when He shows you what to do!

Are you ready to pray for Holy Spirit’s counsel today? Pray this with me:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name. O my Father in Heaven, I need You. I need Your Holy Spirit. Please fill me with Your Spirit today. Baptize me anew and afresh in Your Spirit and fire.

Father God, please fill me with wisdom right now. Let Holy Spirit counsel me, instruct me, and teach me in the way I should go. Guide me with Your eye upon me, Lord, and help me go with You easily and willingly wherever You lead me.

Thank You for Your counsel, Lord. Please help me to walk in it always. Thank You, Father God. Thank You, precious Holy Spirit. I love You. In Jesus’ holy and precious name I pray, amen.”

    6. Wisdom also produces understanding in your life.

Remember that, in Proverbs 8:14, Wisdom is speaking–and Wisdom (Holy Spirit) says this:

“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.”

Understanding. What on earth is understanding? The Hebrew word here for “understanding” (Hebrew word #998 in the Strong’s) comes from a root word (Hebrew word #995) meaning, literally, “to separate mentally” or “to distinguish.”

That’s pretty deep, if you think about it.

    Consider this:

If you have understanding–the ability to separate things out mentally and distinguish things–then you’ll always be able to distinguish and know:

    • Why people do what they do.
    • Who is truly your friend and who is not.
    • Who is loyal to you versus who is not.
    • When a situation could be dangerous for you or for someone you love.
    • What order you should do things in. You’ll never have to wonder, “What should I do first?” You’ll always just know by listening to the instruction of the Spirit of God.
    • What God means when He tells you something.
    • What the Bible means as you read it.

This list could go on and on. Understanding is closely related to discernment–the ability to smell things out in the Spirit.

Suffice it to say: We need understanding. As it says in Proverbs 4:7:

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).

Are you ready to pray with me for understanding today? Pray this:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name. Father, I want to thank You for the gift of Holy Spirit in my life. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for coming to live inside of me.

Father God, I ask right now that You would fill me with wisdom and understanding by Your Spirit. Teach me to discern and be able to sort things out. Help me simply to know and understand situations that are beyond others’ comprehension.

Lord God, please help me to know root causes and inventive solutions to problems.

Help me to understand why things happen when they happen. Help me to hear and understand Your divinely-appointed order of things, and fill me with revelation. Help me always to understand Your Word.

Father God, I depend on You, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for all things. You are my Teacher, Holy Spirit. Thank You for instructing me and teaching me in the way I should go. Please help me to obey You meekly and always follow you. Thank You for giving me wisdom and understanding.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

    7. Wisdom gives you strength.

    Again, Proverbs 8:14 says:

“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.”

Beloved, I have good news for you today: When you made Jesus Christ your personal Savior and Lord, you got everything He is and everything He has too.

    First Corinthians 3:21-23 says:

“Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s” (1 Corinthians 3:21-23).

    And Jesus also said:

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).

Because you are hidden in Christ, your life is in Him. His life, death, and resurrection all belong to you. You are IN CHRIST, and God Himself is the only One alive in you. Your old self is completely dead, according to Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

That means that God Himself is the only One alive in you.

There is no “old man”; you are alive in Christ Jesus only. He is alive in you; YOU are no longer alive yourself. Christ Himself is living out His life through you. And Holy Spirit dwells in you too–a Gift given to you by God the Father the moment you gave your heart to Christ.

What does all this mean? It means whatever He has, you have–because HE is the only one alive in you. And since He has counsel, sound wisdom, understanding, and strength (Proverbs 8:14), then YOU DO TOO.

We already talked about counsel and understanding, but let’s emphasize strength here.

The Hebrew word for “strength” used here (Strong’s Hebrew word #1369) implies not only “force,” but also valor, victory, mastery, and power.

    Did you get that?

    VALOR.

    VICTORY.

    MASTERY.

    POWER.

    That means:

    • Through Holy Spirit’s strength, you’ll be good at everything. (It may be a process as you learn and grow, but you can do ALL THINGS through Christ who STRENGTHENS you!)
    • You’ll always win. Hey, turns out you are MORE THAN A CONQUEROR through Christ who loves you!
    • You can tackle, beat, and dominate over every single thing you ever face in your entire life. YOU WALK IN TOTAL MASTERY OF EVERY SITUATION. (Yes, I’m shouting here. YOU are STRONG!)
    • You have ALL of Holy Spirit’s power available to you and flowing through you at every moment of every day.

All you have to do is realize that these things are true, and learn to tap into them.

It’s just like beginning to feel the manifest presence of God: God is always with you, but there was one day when you decided to start noticing Him. That day changed everything, right?

Well, the same thing applies to God’s power and strength. Holy Spirit is in you. He is giving you wisdom right now if you have asked for it, and His wisdom comes with strength. His strength is a super-human strength that is far above anything our natural bodies could produce, but His strength is always available to you and to me in each and every moment of our lives.

    Did you hear that?

    VALOR.

    VICTORY.

    MASTERY.

    POWER.

    STRENGTH.

    These things are yours.

Ask the Lord to help you tap into His strength today with the following prayer (or any prayer of your own): 🙂

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name. Father, I am in awe of You and of what Your Word promises. I stand in awe of who You are in my life and what You produce in my life.

Father God, I acknowledge that Your Holy Spirit is in me right now. Your Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom, so I ask You in Jesus’ name to fill me with Your wisdom today. And Father, as You do, please help me to notice Your wisdom. Help me to slow down and pay attention. Help me to walk in Your wisdom always.

Father, Your Word says that with wisdom comes strength.

Your strength is in me, Father, because Your Holy Spirit is in me. So Father, please manifest Your mastery, valor, victory, power, and strength in me today. Help me to ROAR over every situation and be bold as a lion. I ask You today for unusual manifestations of Your strength and unusual feats of valor in my life.

Thank You, Father–for I know that it is all “‘not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord” (Zechariah 4:6). I know that it’s all You doing these things, but I ask because I invite You to have unhindered dominance and manifestation in my life.

Let it be all for Your glory, and for the sake of Your great name. Thank You, Heavenly Father. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for making it possible by living, dying, and being raised from the dead for me. Thank You, Lord Holy Spirit.

I love You. In Jesus’ mighty and precious name I pray, amen.”

    And finally …

    8. Wisdom gives you authority to reign.

“To reign” means “to rule,” like a king or queen rules his/her country. In Proverbs 8:15-16, Wisdom (also known as God’s precious Holy Spirit) continues speaking and describing Himself. He says this:

“By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth” (Proverbs 8:15-16).

Kings reign by wisdom. Rulers of nations, empires, cities, and even school boards rule by wisdom. Judges judge by wisdom.

So the first question that comes to my mind about this is, “What about evil rulers?”

Are wicked and evil rulers still ruling by God’s wisdom? Are unjust judges who pervert justice still judging by God’s wisdom? If so, how can that be?

And fortunately, there’s an easy answer to these questions: NO. 🙂 The Bible teaches us that there are two kinds of wisdom.

    Check this out:

There are two kinds of wisdom because you can operate in two kinds of spirits.

We read this in the Bible, in James 3:13-17. This passage says:

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy” (James 3:13-17).

So we read here two kinds of wisdom exist:

    1. “Wisdom” from this world, which is “earthly, sensual, demonic.”
    2. REAL wisdom from above–in other words, wisdom from God–which comes from God’s Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Wisdom.

The world’s earthly, sensual, demonic wisdom may be what the world calls “wisdom,” but in reality it is foolishness.

The apostle Paul specifically told us that the world’s wisdom is foolishness in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25, which says:

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:

‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men” (1 Corinthians 1:18-25).

So, the “wisdom” of the world is not real wisdom.

Real wisdom–the wisdom that is the truth–comes only from God Himself. And the more the world tries to operate in their demonic wisdom, the more the Lord exposes it as the foolishness it is. Eventually, the wicked rulers who rule by the world’s wisdom will face judgment; all the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.

As it says in Revelation 11:15:

“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!'” (Revelation 11:15).

So wicked rulers rule by demonic guidance, which comes from listening to doctrines of demons instead of listening to God’s Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word.

But godly rulers, judges, mayors, prime ministers, and even school board members rule and judge by GOD’s wisdom alone.

You always have to test to see which wisdom they’re using; the test is to compare everything to the Word of God. As it says in Isaiah 8:20:

“To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).

As Jesus taught us in Matthew 7:20, “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

But how does authority to reign apply to YOU?

    Well, my friend, it’s simple:

    1. God is the one who raises up kings and brings them down (Psalm 75). When He prepares you and gets you to the place where you can handle His promotion, nobody can stop Him from promoting you. (Pray this sample prayer for promotion here.)
    2. God and only God gives you the instruction, wisdom, and direction you need to be able to STAY on your throne–to make quality decisions every day; to demonstrate good judgment; and to lead your people, family, or organization wisely.

That’s it. Influence and authority to reign come from God. They are only sustainable when they are fueled by God, and by the wisdom of His Word, given to you by His Spirit.

It doesn’t matter whether your authority is over your home (which it definitely is), a corporate boardroom, a church congregation, a nation, a school system, a fire department, or even over an entire empire of nations. God, and God alone, can keep you on the throne. And, if you do not operate in God’s wisdom, God can take you off that throne in a split second–because it’s only BY HIM that kings reign.

If you aren’t going to reign BY HIM, then you aren’t going to reign long.

    Clear enough?

If you want to walk in authority and influence, reigning over your sphere by God’s wisdom, then pray this with me:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ my Savior.

Father God, I love You. Thank You for teaching me from Your Word that I have to have wisdom; that Your wisdom is the principal thing. Thank You for helping me understand that I need to rely on You for everything.

Father, I know that You have good plans for my life. You have plans to prosper me; plans to give me hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). And Lord, Your Word says in Isaiah 9:7 that it is Your will for Your government to always increase in my life.

Father, I invite You to have total and complete control of my life today.

Be Lord of my life at a whole new level today. Take my heart completely for yourself; I surrender it to You anew and afresh. And Father, please fill me with Your Spirit all over again today. Baptize me in Your fire and love; in Your Spirit and power and boldness and holiness and WISDOM.

Father, as You grow and build my life at this new level of surrender, I pray You will use me powerfully for Your kingdom:

    • Raise me up to walk in everything You have for me to do.
    • Give me influence, I pray–but only as much as You can trust me with that influence.
    • Raise me up to reign and rule over everything in my life using YOUR wisdom from above, which is “first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
    • Place me and establish me in the seats of promotion, leadership, authority, and influence that You have for me–all of those places where You desire to place me for the sake of Your Kingdom, and for the sake of Your great name.

Thank You, Abba Father. Please fill me with Your wisdom and grant me authority to rule as You rule; to reign as Your ambassador on the earth. Please help me only say what You say and do what You do, just like Jesus did while He walked here on the earth among us. Make me like You, and help me to walk in Your ways.

Thank You, Father God. I love You, and I give You all the praise. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer.

In Jesus’ holy and precious name I pray, amen.”

O beloved, the manifold wisdom of God is unsearchable!

I love how the apostle Paul cried out about this in Romans 11:33:

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33).

However, my friend, the good news is that even though His ways are past our natural ability to find out, His Spirit who dwells within us declares and transmits to us ALL these things. He FREELY teaches us His ways and shares His wisdom with us. How great is our God!

To recap, so far we have discussed the first 8 benefits, results, and fruit of wisdom in our lives.

    They are:

    1. Prudence;
    2. Knowledge;
    3. Discretion;
    4. The fear of the Lord;
    5. Counsel;
    6. Understanding;
    7. Strength; and
    8. Authority to reign.

Remember that these are just some of the good fruit that manifest in your life when you ask the Lord for wisdom, for He always gives wisdom to those who ask. James 1:5-8 says:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:5-8).

I recommend that you ask God for wisdom daily.

We ALL need to ask the Lord in faith for wisdom, never doubting. If we will, the wisdom He gives will transform our lives.

In subsequent blog posts, I will continue sharing from this list until we get through all 17 benefits, results, and fruit of wisdom. But for today, I’d love to hear from you.
