Day 5: Saving to Your Heart Drive
Over the last 4 days, we have learned a lot. We learned on Day 1 about how God is with us all the time. Day 2 was about “the wonder of it all.”
Day 3 was about praying openly and honestly to your Daddy God. Day 4 was about asking for His help with each thing you encounter throughout your day.
Today I’m going to share a secret with you.

I have a special prayer that I pray all the time. God always answers it for me, and He will always answer it for you. (This is one of my secret weapon prayers.)
Here’s the secret:
We can download new truths into our minds, but we need God’s help to “save them to our heart drive.”
So here’s what I pray:
“Dear Father, please sear Your Word into my heart like a brand.”
When I pray this, in my mind’s eye I can see God with a branding iron, searing His truth into my heart.
I see Him actually making a brand out of His Word–like ranchers brand cattle–and burning His truth into the flesh of my heart and mind. Making His truth a literal part of who I am.
I can smell the smoke. I can hear the sizzle as He changes the landscape of my heart to match His Word.
As the Bride says to her Beloved in Song of Solomon 8:6, “Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm ….” What a powerful Scripture!

So here’s your assignment for Day 5:
Pray this prayer: “Dear Father, sear Your Word into my heart like a brand.”
- Ask Him to sear the awareness of His presence into your heart.
- Ask Him to sear the understanding of how awesome He is into your heart.
- Ask Him to teach you how to pray, and sear the ability to pray into your heart.
- Ask Him to help you acknowledge Him in every mundane part of your day. Ask Him to sear into your heart the understanding that He WANTS to help you all day long.
Pray this prayer often, starting today. He will answer. You will start to notice the heart change. Asking God to sear His Word into your heart is how you get His truth “saved” into your “heart drive!”

I (and my family!) love them, too. Yesterday I decided to take a day off so we could all let the truths we’d learned so far just sink in, and my 7 yr old came up to me and reminded me that we hadn’t done our devotion yet! He’s grasping this in his own way, and is learning so much. I believe this is an answer to the prayers we’ve prayed for him that he would come into a very personal knowledge of God, more than just the stories he knows.
That is so awesome! Proves there’s no “Junior Holy Spirit” for the little guys! Same Spirit, same Jesus, same hunger! Thanks for letting me know!

I am encouraged of the reminder to ask God to sear the ability to pray into my heart. I believe there is no expiration date on our prayers, so it makes sense to have every prayer stored forever. God knows when, where and how to answer.
