If You’re Desperate and Panicked Today

Friend, if you’re desperate and panicked today, please read this.

If you’re desperate and panicked today, God is right there with you. Jesus is with you right now. He’s with you in your panic, and He’s with you in your storm. He knows what you’re going through. You are not alone.

So here’s what to do:

First, pray. Open your Bible to whatever Scripture you feel led.

I recommend this one:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV).

And read it slowly. God says the antidote for anxiety is prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. So pray.

Don’t pretend with God, friend. Pray respectfully, but pour out your heart to Him.

Tell Him all your troubles. Ask Him for all the things you need–including to KEEP your mind for you, especially if you feel like you’re losing it, losing your mind, falling apart, can’t keep it together, done for.

Then pray some more.

Friend, God is the only one who can help you. Depend on Him. It’s okay to be needy; it pleases God for us to acknowledge our dependence on Him.

When I’m desperate, I will often grab one of my books of God’s breakthrough promises–21 Days of Breakthrough Prayer (ebook here and paperback here) or 21 MORE Days of Breakthrough Prayer (ebook here and paperback here)–and pray through every single promise in a row. Why? Because I’m desperate.

But it works. Prayer works because God hears and answers.

You’ve got to get your specific prayers “filed” before Him.

You’ve got to get your specific prayers before Him; that’s how He answers. So pour out your desperate, needy heart to Him. Don’t get down into self-pity, but it’s okay to be real and transparent with God. He knows it all anyway!

Then, friend, it’s important to speak God’s Word over your situation.

The Greek word for “faith” requires both the deep inner belief AND the simultaneous verbal confession of a thing. There’s no such thing as faith without confession of your faith. So after you pray, speak God’s Word over yourself about whatever you need.

You may also consider fasting. But that also might be for later, in a few minutes, after you pour out your heart to God and get His Word in your mouth.

If you’re desperate today, friend, PRAY. Pray. Pray. God is the only One who can help you, but He WILL help you … if you pray and obey.
