Are you feeling sad and lonely today? Does your heart see only darkness surrounding you? Do you wonder what good it does for you to even continue living?

If so, beloved, I felt led to write this short prayer for you. And as you pray it, I pray that Jesus would manifest Himself to you as your Glory, and the Lifter of your head. As He promised He would do in Psalm chapter 3:

“But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head” (Psalm 3:3 NKJV).

And friend, even though I know things may look dark now, you DO have hope in Jesus.

Second Corinthians 2:14 says this:

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place” (2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV).

And I know it’s hard to think of yourself as winning if you can barely (or maybe not at all) get out of bed, but Jesus is your Answer to everything. As you pray and ask for His help, His grace will be sufficient for you–and His strength will be made perfect in your weakness.

Beloved friend, pray this short prayer if you’re feeling sad, lonely, discouraged, or hopeless today:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name. Father God, thank You for being with me right now. Whether I can feel You or not, You are always with me. And I thank You for loving me and taking care of me. I praise You for Your goodness and mercy toward me.

Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, I need Your help today–and I am asking You to come to my rescue.

Specifically, Lord:

• I feel so hopeless, but I ask You to fill me with hope.
• I feel so sad, but I ask You to fill me with joy.
• I don’t even know why I’m alive, or what good it does for me to be alive. But I’m asking You to fill me with a renewed sense of purpose, and to reconfirm Your covenant to me and with me.
• I feel so disconsolate, but I’m asking you to comfort me and counsel me.
• I feel like I have nothing to live for, but I’m asking You to lift my head.
• I am so weak, but I’m asking You to fill me with Your grace, which is sufficient for me; and that You would make me strong by Your grace, for Your strength is made perfect in my weakness.

Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, I need Your help.

Please manifest Yourself to me. Please minister to me right now, and please send Your Holy Spirit and Jesus and Your angels to help me, too.

I need Your help to go on, and to thrive, and to have a reason to wake up in the morning. I need Your marvelous lovingkindness right now, and I’m asking You to heal and strengthen my heart.

Father, I have no joy in my life right now. Please help me.

Please overcome the darkness that surrounds me, and the hopelessness that I feel, with Your presence and with Your Holy Spirit. Please surround me with Your love and protection and mercy and grace right now, and help me to actually feel all these things working in my life even this moment.

I don’t want to go on as things have been, Lord. I feel like I have no safety, no refuge other than in You. But You are my help, and my safety, and my refuge. Please manifest Yourself to me as all these things right now in Jesus’ name.

Thank You, Father. Thank You for helping me. I barely have strength to look up at all, but I choose to look to You. Please help me, and I thank You in advance for helping me. I give You all the praise.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
