    So today, we are going to finish off this series with more incredible spiritual meat about what happens when you get wisdom from the Lord. With no further ado …

    Result #14: When you get wisdom from the Lord, God will fill your treasuries with wealth.

    Proverbs 8:19-21 says this:

    “My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver. I traverse the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries (Proverbs 8:19-21 NKJV, emphasis mine).

    We already discussed in Part 4 of this series that God DOES want you to be wealthy. Why? Because wealth is a blessing He promises to give when we obey Him, and of course He always wants us to obey Him.

    Also, Scripture tells us that wealth is a blessing and poverty is a curse.

    It is always so in the Bible. However, wealth comes when we obey God–and most people do not ever study the Bible enough to know where they are falling short when it comes to obeying God, particularly in their finances. It’s not only about giving (although tithing and giving financially to the Lord ARE the entry point to wealth.) As Jesus said in Luke 6:38:

    “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38 NKJV).

    But also, there are hundreds of additional financial commands in the Bible, many of them about business and entrepreneurship–the obedience of which would produce wealth every time. Commands like:

    • Making layers of investments (see Proverbs 31)
    • Selling what will feed the people
    • Doing business until Jesus comes back
    • Establishing your income and business before building your personal house up
    • Taking care of the house of God before aggrandizing yourself
    • Turning raw goods into retail-able products
    • … and many more.

    Over Not Under: Financial Prosperity God’s Way

    Do you want God to empower you to get wealth, as He promised in Deuteronomy 8:18? Then this book is for you!

    Over Not Under will help you gain deep insight about God’s financial principles—and about how to activate His provision, blessing, and abundance in your life!

    Sadly, however, very few people actually obey those commands.

    They either don’t read their Bibles enough to know that those commands are there, OR they are too lazy or too un-submitted to God to obey them. And so, people are not blessed like God wants them to be. And they often don’t even know they are disobeying Him.

    However, when you get wisdom from the Lord, Holy Spirit will inspire you (in His wisdom) to search His Scriptures.

    Wisdom will teach you to seek God first. This is what Jesus commanded us to do in Matthew 6:33:

    “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).

    And as we seek God first, we will read His Word. We will devour His Word. And we will mine His Word for instructions about how to live.

    When we read His Word, digging out those instructions for how to live, we will naturally find all the commands about business and money and giving and how to make a profit. And because of the Lord’s wisdom, we will obey those commands …

    and the Lord will bless our obedience.

    He will bless us with every kind of blessing, including wealth and riches and filled treasuries. That is just what His Word says, and it’s not for us to argue with. 🙂 It’s for us to enjoy, and to provide for our families with, and to give and sow and help the poor and become Kingdom financiers. Praise the Lord!

    Result #15: When you operate in the Lord’s wisdom, He will help you do creative works.

    I don’t think that we, as everyday people, place enough value on creativity. However, God values creativity highly. (It is, after all, an aspect of His Own nature.)

    If you think about it, creativity is the driving force behind not only artwork, but also things like:

    • Engineering
    • Architecture
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Marketing
    • Many types of education
    • Modern modes of transportation
    • Food preparation
    • Music
    • Inventions (thinking up new inventions)
    • Motion study (the science of being more efficient, cutting out steps, and eliminating work/rework) …

    … and so much more! What would this life be like without creativity? We would still be in the Dark Ages, or worse.

    But creativity is not only for the people who invented the train, plane, or automobile. Creativity is for YOU, today.

    God’s creative works are for YOU. In other words, He has creative works for you to do. You are, after all, created in the image of God:

    “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth’” (Genesis 1:26 NKJV).

    And God is the Creator. Therefore, He has given you the ability to create. And not only does He have creative works for you to do in this life, but He will actually help you do them and do them through you by His Spirit.

    This is because Holy Spirit is Wisdom Himself–His very person IS wisdom, and wisdom produces creativity.

    Wisdom produces the creative works of God in your life.

    Let’s read Proverbs 8:22-31 to see how God is Creator, and that His Spirit produces creative works:

    “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was ever an earth.

    When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth; while as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, or the primal dust of the world.

    When He prepared the heavens, I was there, when He drew a circle on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above, when He strengthened the fountains of the deep, when He assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters would not transgress His command,

    when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him, rejoicing in His inhabited world, and my delight was with the sons of men” (Proverbs 8:22-31 NKJV, emphasis mine).

    In particular, notice from verse 30 that wisdom was beside Him as a master craftsman. This is consistent with other passages of Scripture that tell us that Holy Spirit would anoint (give power to) people to do creative works.

    For example, in Exodus, the Lord put His wisdom in a man named Bezalel–and the purpose of that wisdom was to do creative works.

    Bezalel was an artisan in the time of Moses. And God mentioned him by name to Moses when He was giving Moses the instructions for building the tabernacle of worship.

    When God told Moses about Bezalel, He actually told Moses that He had given him wisdom to create. God also told Moses that He had also deposited wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, so they too could do creative works.

    Check out the entire passage below, and notice in particular these key phrases:

    • “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom … to design artistic works …”
    • “… and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make …”

    And now, look at the whole passage in Exodus 31:

    “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.

    And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

    And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

    the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle—the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base—

    the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests, and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do’” (Exodus 31:1-11 NKJV, emphasis mine).

    So, beloved, Holy Spirit (Who is Wisdom Himself) indwells God’s people and does creative works through them.

    If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, this means He indwells you. And since He lives within you, His creative works are in you too. He will work creatively through you, helping you to do creative works all day long, if you will ask Him to and follow Him as He prompts you.

    The first time I asked God to do this through me, I wasn’t even saved yet.

    I was still a student at university, and I had a tough writing assignment for one of my English literature classes. I really didn’t want to complete the assignment, but of course I had to. But, I remember bowing my head and praying before I started. I invited God to literally write the paper through me.

    The instant I prayed that, I felt different. I could feel Holy Spirit’s power and creativity surging through me. And I followed what I felt He was leading me to write.

    As I wrote, I could literally hear Him speak to me about the paper. It was not even on a topic in which I was interested, so I knew the thoughts did not come from me. Nevertheless, I could hear Him showing me what to write from one sentence to the next.

    Well, not only did I finish that paper in record time, but I later went on to submit it to a literary journal.

    And guess what? That literary journal published my paper! It was my very first published work, and I know it wasn’t a coincidence that I invited Holy Spirit to write that paper through me.

    Beloved, God will give you wisdom when you ask. That wisdom is actually “Wisdom, the Person”–His Holy Spirit Himself. And He will create through you and for you when He dwells in you, and when you give Him permission to move through you in that way.

    God’s Wisdom produces God’s creative works!

    And whether you need to paint a picture, start a business, drum up a marketing campaign to find more customers, learn a piece of music, cook some food, invent a new method or strategy or even a new device or machine, He will do it through you and for you if you’ll just invite Him to do so!

    Result #16: God’s wisdom gives you LIFE.

    We read this in Proverbs 8:32-36:

    “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

    For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord; but he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:32-26 NKJV, emphasis mine).

    Whoever finds wisdom finds life. Why would this be?

    Well, part of it is simply the promise of God to those who love Him. Look at what He promises in Psalm 91:

    “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation (Psalm 91:14-16 NKJV, emphasis mine).

    God promises long life to those who have set their love upon Him. And of course, wisdom IS God’s Holy Spirit–so when God says in Proverbs 8 that “whoever finds me finds life,” He is of course talking about the life that is found in He (God) Himself. This would be natural life and spiritual life–which is everlasting life:

    “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV).

    However, there is a practical component to receiving LIFE by getting wisdom as well.

    When you get wisdom, you will make good choices. And those choices will have a direct impact on how long you live. 🙂 For example:

    • Wisdom will help you make good choices (like staying safe on the road), but the lack of wisdom causes people to make foolish choices (like drinking and driving, or texting and driving).
    • Wisdom will help you consider your days and make the most of every moment, which includes doing things like exercising and staying active, so you can live longer.
    • Wisdom will help you obtain proper medical care when you get sick or injured, so you can also live longer. 🙂

    (Remember, God is HEALER. But sometimes He heals instantaneously, and other times He heals through medical care. JESUS Himself said that those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do.) 🙂

    So, whoever finds wisdom finds LIFE. This is both because God will supernaturally bless you with a long life and eternal life, and because, using His wisdom, He will lead you to make good choices that impact your health and ability to live a long life.

    And finally, result #17 of wisdom is that you will receive favor from the Lord.

    Again, we read this in Proverbs 8:35:

    “For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 8:35 NKJV).

    When you love God with all your heart, He will give you favor. We see a great example of this in Esther 2:17:

    “The king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti” (Esther 2:17 NKJV).

    In this story, Esther avoided the materialistic temptations to which the other queen-candidates succumbed. She didn’t want all the materialistic things she was offered in the palace. She only wanted what she was advised to take, and her focus was on the King himself. And because of her different attitude, the king loved her more than all the other women–and she obtained grace and favor in His sight.

    Beloved, Esther’s attitude is a representation of how our attitudes should be, as the Bride of Christ that we are.

    We are to love our King–King Jesus–more than materialistic things. We are to set our eyes and our focus on Him with a narrow gaze. We are to set our minds and keep them set on things above, where Jesus is, not on things on this earth.

    When we do that, as we discussed above, we will naturally seek Jesus first. And as we seek Jesus first, we will learn to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength–and even to love our neighbor as ourselves. As Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-40:

    “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV).

    When you love God with all your heart, you will seek His wisdom. And He will give you favor:

    “But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield” (Psalm 5:11-12 NKJV).

    So God’s wisdom brings you favor:

    • He gives you favor because you love Him, so He can bless you (and wisdom causes you to love Him);
    • He gives you favor because acting in His wisdom means He can trust you with favor and influence; and
    • He gives you favor because favor with other people is the natural result of making wise decisions. So He will highlight you in other people’s eyes when you get filled with His wisdom. In this way, you receive favor from Him, even though it comes into your life in visible form using the hands and feet of other people.

    Beloved, God’s wisdom changes everything.

    Wisdom is simply God’s Holy Spirit, applying Himself to your life. And when you ask God for wisdom, He will give it to you. As we read in James 1:

    “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

    If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

    But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:2-8 NKJV).

    In this article series, we have now discussed all 17 benefits, or results, of wisdom that God lists in Proverbs chapter 8.

    They are:

    1. Prudence;
    2. Knowledge;
    3. Discretion;
    4. The fear of the Lord (read about results 1-4 in Part 1 of this series here);
    5. Counsel;
    6. Understanding;
    7. Strength;
    8. Authority to reign (read about results 5-8 in Part 2 of this series here);
    9. Justice (read about it in Part 3 of the series here);
    10. Riches and wealth (read about that in Part 4 of the series here);
    11. Honor;
    12. Righteousness;
    13. Fruit (read about results 11-13 in Part 5 of the series here)
    14. Filled treasuries;
    15. Creative works;
    16. Life; and
    17. Favor from the Lord (with results 14-17 being discussed in this very article, above).

    Are you convinced yet that you need the Lord’s wisdom in your life?

    I know I am. I ask Him for it every day. A simple prayer that I would heartily recommend is this:

    “Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, Your Word says that if any man lack wisdom, let him ask, and it will be given to him. Abba Father, I need wisdom. Please give me Your wisdom today, and let everything I do be done only in Your wisdom. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

    I pray some variation of that prayer every single day, and God has used His wisdom to build everything good about my life. I crave His wisdom like I crave air, and I pray that you will too.

    God’s wisdom is for you, and it will change you. It will mold and shape your life as the Potter shapes you as His clay. Will you ask the Lord for wisdom today?
