Beloved, are you weary and discouraged? If so, I want to encourage you today.

If you are going through a dark time, and your very soul is weary and your whole being is feeling discouraged, know these three things:

First, it’s darkest just before dawn.

I know it may feel like God isn’t answering your prayers. You may be fasting, and seeking Him, and spending time hiding His Word in your heart, and speaking the Word out loud, and doing all the things … but it may still feel like the heavens are as brass above you, and that nothing is moving or being accomplished.

But beloved, even if you feel that way, HOPE is on your horizon. You may not feel it yet. You may not see evidence of any visible thing moving or changing yet. But Jesus is faithful, and He will still see you through.

Secondly, let Jesus minister to you.

See the fruit that abounds to your account …
And still more fruit that remains …
And these are just the tip of the iceberg!

How you’re feeling today is not a mystery to the Lord. For example:

    • He is not going to be surprised when you sit down in prayer and tell Him how discouraged you are, or how you’re hurting or feeling broken inside.
    • He’s not going to be shocked when you share with Him how something that someone did hurt your feelings, or how you’re concerned about certain relationships in your life, or how you feel like people are mad at you but you don’t know why.
    • He’s not going to be surprised when you tell Him that you feel like things are not right in certain areas, but that you don’t know the specifics or how to fix them.

Jesus is not going to be sad, discouraged, upset, or surprised by any of these things because He already knows. And His Word says that He just wants us to cast these burdens on Him. Look at Psalm 55:22:

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22 NKJV).

Friend, I know that the burdens of life feel too heavy to carry.

They feel that way because they are. Your burdens are too heavy to carry. Your heartache is too much for you. You aren’t even alive in your own flesh; only Christ lives in you.

    Craving a mentor?

Sometimes, real mentoring is hard to come by. That’s why we’re working hard to put solid, Biblical mentoring into writing for you.

Jamie’s book series How to Live offers you comprehensive mentoring in spiritual growth AND practical application. Get your copy of the first volume today, and ask the Lord to catapult you into massive growth and advancement!

As we read in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NKJV).

So, you are not even alive in your flesh. The only Person alive in you is Jesus Christ Himself. Can a dead man effectively carry burdens, sorrows, weariness, stressors, hurts, and needs? No! Only Jesus can do that, for He is the One Who bore our sorrows and pains.

Moral of the story? Cast your burdens on the Lord today, and let Him sustain you.

He knows what you’re going through anyway. He’s not going to be shocked or surprised.

But, when you pour out your burdens on Him, He is going to help you–to a degree which He cannot do until you DO come to Him with all that concerns you.

Thirdly, know that the Lord is our Fortress and Strong Tower.

He will hide you from the world today if you need it–and we all need it, every day. He will take care of you and protect you.

Jesus, and only Jesus, can hide you under His wing to such a degree that the world cannot even see you. So, if this life feels like too much for you …

Beloved, when life feels like too much, and you’re weary and discouraged, Jesus is the answer.

Jesus can help you, and He’s the only One Who can. And He will help you if you will call on His name. He will help you, deliver you, and honor you, as we read in Psalm 91:

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91:14-15 NKJV).

I know it’s hard when you don’t feel like your prayers are being answered. I know it’s difficult when you feel neglected and un-nourished, whether spiritually, emotionally, or even physically. I know it’s hard when weeping endures for a night, and you just want joy to FINALLY come in the morning–when you want it to BE morning, right now!

    But beloved, be patient.

Look at Galatians 6:9–a verse we probably all need to remind ourselves about every day:

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9 NKJV).

Hide yourself in Jesus. And whatever you do, DO NOT QUIT. God is your Refuge and your Fortress, and it is on Him only that you can depend.

We all get weary and discouraged sometimes.

Some of us may get more weary and discouraged than others. I wish I could say that I’m a person who’s always feeling encouraged and hopeful, but that just wouldn’t be true. I really struggle sometimes with being discouraged.

Nevertheless, every day, Jesus is there to minister to me and heal my aching or wounded heart:

    • Whatever bad things have happened, He ministers to me about those things.
    • No matter how sorrowful or sad or let-down or anguished in my soul I feel, He always picks my head up and helps me to look at Him again.
    • Somehow, He gives me grace to put one foot in front of the other and go on, even when I wish I could quit.

And my testimony is, or can be, your testimony too. Jesus is with you right now, and He will comfort you, heal you, and help you right now.

For each of us–yes, for YOU, and for today, beloved friend–Jesus is right there with you. He is eager to give you rest. He is eager to give you peace. And He is ready, willing, and able right now to heal your aching heart, and to hide you from the world while you find rest in His arms.

Do you need comfort and ministry from Jesus today? Take a moment to set your attention completely on Him, and ask Him to help you and encourage you!
