Friend, do you need God to bless you today? Did you know that He is ready, willing, able, and eager to bless you–but that you have to ask? If you’re ready to ask God to bless you, pray this prayer for blessing and pour out your heart to the Lord–for it is His good pleasure to give you the Kingdom!

In Luke 12:32, Jesus taught us that the Father is ready, willing, and able to bless you.

This passage says:

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32 NKJV).

We learn from this passage that our good, good Heavenly Father is not holding back, but rather desires to pour out ALL of His good blessings upon you! God also shows us this with another powerful verse in the Bible about a man named Jabez–a man who prayed earnestly for God to bless him:

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested” (1 Chronicles 4:10 NKJV).

Jabez simply asked. He called on the God of Israel, and he asked God to bless him. And “So God granted him what he requested.” Powerful, huh?

So why aren’t we receiving all the blessings we desire?

Perhaps because we do not ask–or we do not ask enough, or ask rightly, by obeying God at the same time. According to James 4:2, you do not have because you do not ask–or because you ask amiss, for purely selfish reasons.

But, beloved, as long as you are asking God to bless you because of your faith in Him, and because of your dependence on Him, asking Him for what you need, want, and desire is not wrong.

It’s right.

It’s what God expects us to do.

God expects us to ask, seek, and knock. And He expects us to admit that we are completely dependent on Him, for without Him we can do nothing.

So, friend, if you need God to bless you, you have to ask Him.

Position your heart rightly before the Lord, and ask Him for what you need today. Whether you need to feel love, comfort, joy, or encouragement, or even if you have a physical need like healing, money, or safety, these things all count as blessings from the Lord–and you have to ask Him for these things if you want them.

Look at what Jesus taught us in Matthew chapter 7:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV).

And the process of asking will bring you tremendous peace, according to Philippians chapter 4:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV).

Simply asking God to bless you is one of the simplest prayers a person can pray.

But, oh how impactful it is! And the funny thing is that many of us never think to pray it!

Friend, if you need the Lord to bless you today, you can start by just praying the simple sentence from your heart: “Father God, in Jesus’ name, please bless me today.”

That works. God hears that prayer.

Breathing out a one-sentence cry for help is a totally legitimate way to pray (although it’s not the most thorough way to pray, and more thorough prayer equals more answers). But God still hears that one sentence, and He sees the posture of your heart; and He will indeed answer the cry of your heart for blessing.

But if you’d like to be more specific in what kinds of blessings you desire …

… and if you’d like to pour out your heart a little more, unloading all of your burdens on the Lord as He told us to do in Philippians chapter 4, you could also pray something like the prayer below.

If you want God to bless you today, and you really want to pour out your heart to Him, pray this prayer right now, and make the words your own as you feel led while you lift this up to the Lord:

“Father God, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Abba Father, thank You for being so good to me. Thank You that You are alive and hearing me pray, and that You will never leave me nor forsake me. I praise You for Your goodness and faithfulness to me, Father.

Holy Father, Your Word says that You will bless me; that Your blessings are for me because You have made me Your child in Christ; and that it is Your good pleasure to give me the Kingdom. I thank You for that, Abba. Thank You for the exceeding greatness of Your generosity toward me.

Abba Father, I humbly admit that I need You today.

I cannot live this life alone; Jesus taught us that, without Him, we can do nothing at all. So I am throwing myself at Your feet today, Lord; and in the name of Jesus, I beg You:

• As Jabez prayed, please, “bless me indeed!”
• “Enlarge my territory!”
• I pray “that Your hand would be with me,” and that You would move on my behalf!
• I ask in Jesus’ name “that You would keep me from evil, that I would not cause pain!”
• Please give me favor, guidance, and wisdom today.
• With Your wisdom, please grant me understanding, prudence, discretion, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord, all by the power of Your Holy Spirit Who lives within me.
• Please, Abba, in Jesus’ name: please bless the work of my hand! Help me to lend to many nations, and never borrow!
• Let everything I touch prosper and turn to gold in my hand!
• Please use me to be a blessing to others, too!
• Please help me to have a great day, and to be full of joy. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, in Jesus’ name.
• Help me to feel Your love and affection all day today. Help me to abide in Jesus and feel Your presence, basking in Your glory and goodness.
• Please make me blessable in all things. Change my heart so that I seek You, obey You, and honor You in all things!
• Please glorify Your Own name in me, Abba Father!
• Please fill me with Your joy unspeakable and full of glory.
• Comfort me today by Your Holy Spirit. Encourage me and lift me up.
• Show Yourself to me as my Glory and the Lifter of my head!
• Please set a watch on my mouth, that I would speak Your words and only Your words. Please help me to only say what You say and do what You do, just as Jesus did. Make me like Jesus, I pray, in His holy name!
• Please fill me with all the fruit of the Spirit. Let Your fruit be clearly displayed in every part of me, and in all that I do today, in Jesus’ name.
• And Abba Father, please keep me safe today. Protect me and everyone I love. Keep me and my family safe from all harm, danger, malintent, and loss.
• I plead the blood of Jesus over every part of my life, especially my relationships. Please protect me and my relationships. Bring me into contact with the right people, and deliver me from every relationship that is not Your highest and best and most perfect will for my life.
• Please also heal and strengthen my body. Give me wisdom to take care of myself and make wise choices when it comes to my health (and everything else).
• Let Your healing virtue flow through me all day today with all the strength and power of the God of the universe!
• Please provide for me physically and financially today. Send massive miracle money from the north, south, east, and west, and deliver it into my hand.
• Let Your grace be sufficient for me today, Abba. And let Your strength be made perfect in my weakness: physically, emotionally, mentally, and even financially.
• Yes, let Your fiscal strength be made perfect in my fiscal weakness, by Your grace and mercy!
• Please make me a good steward of everything You entrust to me, I pray, Father, in Jesus’ name–for everything in Heaven and earth belongs to You!
• Help me to honor You with my possessions, and with the firstfruits of all my increase; so my barns will be filled with plenty, and my vats with new wine!
• Please put Your blessing upon me, which makes rich, and I know that You will add no sorrow with it.
• And according to 2 Corinthians chapter 9, please give me seed to sow and bread for food. Please bless me and meet all of my needs in abundance, but please use me also to meet the needs of others.
• In Jesus’ name, please also supply and multiply the seeds I have sown and increase the fruits of my righteousness (which is Your righteousness in me), while I am enriched in every good thing for all liberality.
• Please send Your angels to watch over me and minister to me today, and to convey blessings and messages from Heaven to me, as You sent them to do in the pages of Your Word.
• And I’m calling upon You, Lord, and asking You to answer me–and to show me great and mighty things that I do not know! Give me inside information that I would have no other way of knowing, unless You reveal it to me; and also do for me things that I have never seen nor experienced before, so great is Your move on my behalf! Thank You, Abba Father!

O Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, I desire only that You should be glorified; that Your will should be done; and that You should be lifted up.

Please, in Jesus’ name, let Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven in my life today. And as I humble myself under Your mighty hand, I pray that, in due time, You will lift me up.

Thank You for blessing me today, Abba Father. Thank You for Your wisdom and guidance in all things. Thank You for Your healing hand upon me in all things.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen and amen.”
