WEBINAR JUNE 18: THE ANOINTINGS OF JOSEPH, EPHRAIM, AND MANASSEH

Do you feel weak and inadequate today? Do you desperately need God to step in and help you–as well as to bolster you up in your heart, your spirit, and your emotions?
If so, today’s prayer for God’s grace to be sufficient for you is going to help you. It’s a simple prayer, but one of the most powerful verses in the Bible for days like today.
I don’t know about you, but I feel pretty weak and helpless today.
I know God is with me, but my frustration level has been high. The agony of my heart has been difficult to bear, and the only things that have been sustaining me are truly the grace, comfort, and help of God.

I am under no illusions that I have any fleshly strength at all, and I sense my dependence upon Jesus more than I have ever sensed it before.
That’s not a bad thing, really. I mean, it feels bad; it feels uncomfortable; no one likes to feel helpless.
But, is it not our very weakness and inadequacy that drives us to the feet of Christ? Should we not be extremely aware, every single day, of our total and complete dependence on Jesus?
I believe we should.
How do you rest in God and reach your destiny at the same time?

After all, although it’s true that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us, it’s equally true that we can do nothing without Him–not even breathing or holding our own cells together. Look at what He tells us in His Word:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV).
And also:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).
So yes, we can do all things through Christ.
But, in our flesh dwells no good thing–and we certainly have no power of our own, without Jesus. It is HE Who holds all things together by the word of His power:
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” (Hebrews 1:1-4 NKJV, emphasis mine).
And it is in JESUS that all things consist:
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16-17 NKJV, emphasis mine).
So, we need Him for everything.
O beloved, we are so dependent on Jesus.

We depend on Him for life, for strength, for health, for air, for holding our cells and atoms and protons and electrons together …
… We depend on Him to keep the earth spinning on its axis, and to keep this planet from flying off into deep space …
… We depend on Him to make the sun shine, the moon rise, and to put breath in our lungs …
… So how is it that we ever even begin to feel that we can do anything on our own? For we cannot; and, in this season, I don’t know about you, but I am more aware of my total inadequacy than ever before.
But that is why we call out to God for mercy, for grace, and for help.
And today, the Scripture that has been burning on my heart–the verse I have been crying out to God–is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10:
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV).
It is hard sometimes to take pleasure in infirmities, weakness, inadequacy, frustration, distress, needs, and all of that. Sometimes, yes, it can be easy. But–at least for me–at other times, all my emotions try really hard to get in the way of keeping my eyes on Jesus.
On those days, it’s quite a task and a challenge to rise above the frustration or sadness or upset or despair or discouragement.
(By the way, I try really hard to live transparently in front of you. I’m not here trying to say I never experience these things; I am experiencing them right now.
But, my goal–as your goal should also be–is to seek Jesus first and obey Him, no matter how difficult my circumstances might be, or how hard life is, or how sad/discouraged I might feel on challenging days. And that is what we all have to do.
Tests and trials will come, but our goal must be to be of good cheer, keep our eyes on Jesus, and remember that He has overcome the world.)
So anyway, despite difficult days, I’m trying:
- Trying to keep my eyes on Jesus;
- Trying to remember that circumstances and appearances are not truth; only Jesus is Truth, and His Word is Truth because He IS the Word;
- Trying to draw on Him for help in each moment;
- Trying to stand firm in faith, with my spiritual armor on.
And so, I have been praying and asking the Lord to make His grace sufficient for me.

Want to pray with me today for God’s grace to be sufficient for you? If so, pray as follows:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.
Abba Father, I thank You for being my everything. Thank You for Jesus, Who is also my everything.
Thank You that Your Holy Spirit lives inside me, and that He is the same Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead. Thank You for Your grace, which is sufficient for me; and that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. I praise You for Who You are, and for all that You have done for me.
Abba Father, I’m calling on you today in time of desperate need.
You know the situation I’m in, Father, and You know my circumstances. You know everything about me and my life even better than I do. And You know the solutions, for You are the solution, even if I have no idea where to turn.
But Father, I’m so aware of my weakness today. I’m acutely aware of my inadequacy. And I am calling on You and asking You to answer me; and to show me great and mighty things that I do not know.
Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, please let Your grace of all kinds be sufficient for me today in every way. And please make Your strength perfect in my weakness:
- Let Your spiritual strength be made perfect in any spiritual weakness in me.
- Let Your physical strength be made perfect in my physical weakness.
- Let Your emotional strength be made perfect in my emotional weakness.
- Let Your fiscal strength be made perfect in my fiscal weakness.
- Let Your relational strength be made perfect in all of my weaknesses in dealing with the people around me.
- Let Your grace, hope, strength, love, and comfort run swiftly through my heart and life, and through my body, soul, and spirit, bringing change and transformation–and making me more like You, in Jesus’ name.
Lord God, I need You for everything.
I am completely dependent upon You, and You made me that way; so this is no surprise to You. But I implore You, Father, to multiply Your grace unto me today. I am humbling myself under Your mighty hand, and I am asking You to give me more grace; for You resist the proud, but You give grace to the humble.
Please help me, Abba Father. Strengthen me according to Your Word, and help me to keep my eyes on You.
Thank You, Abba Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”
Beloved, do you need God’s grace to be sufficient for you today?
If so, remember to remain humble, because He gives grace to the humble:
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble'” (James 4:6 NKJV).
And lean on God’s grace all day long. His grace is sufficient for you, for His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
