Pray THIS for Help from the Lord

Do you need help from the Lord today? If so, this powerful Scripture passage from Psalm 85 is going to give you the perfect words to pray, imploring God to move on your behalf!

First, let’s read today’s Scripture. It’s Psalm 85:7-9, and this passage says:

“Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land” (Psalm 85:7-9 NKJV).

O beloved, do you need salvation (help of any kind) from the Lord today?

I’m not talking only about salvation from sin, although of course that applies too if you have not yet received forgiveness of your sins and received eternal life by giving your heart to Jesus.

But if you need help of absolutely any kind, God’s help is for YOU today.

Whether you need:

• A new (great) job;
• Comfort and peace;
• Money to pay your bills;
• Healing, whether emotional or physical;
• Your divinely-appointed spouse to come forth (if you’re single), so you can get married like you’ve always dreamed;
• Your existing spouse (if you’re married) to be saved or delivered;
• A prodigal child to be saved and come home;
• A new vehicle;
• Something personal, like clothes or a new computer;
• Opportunity to carry out your God-given ministry;
• Or anything else you may need …

… No matter what your need is, God’s salvation (His help; His saving you from your situation) is for YOU.

God has peace and help for you today, my friend.

He has peace and help because He is Peace and Help. He is all you need at the point that you need it, even today. And when you call upon Him, He will answer you:

“‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know'” (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV).

And He has promised to deliver you and honor you when you are in trouble! As He said in Psalm 91:

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91:14-15 NKJV).

Therefore, beloved, let’s look at our Scripture of the day again, but with new eyes:

“Show us Your mercy, Lord, and grant us Your salvation. I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land” (Psalm 85:7-9 NKJV).

O beloved, you can pray to the Lord for His mercy–and He will give it.

You can ask Him to move, and He will save you from your situation. You can ask Him to deliver you and bless you, and He will. And you can listen to Him speak, and He will speak words of comfort and hope to you, even while you’re in the middle of the difficulty.

It’s all because He is your Salvation, your ever-present Help in time of need. And because He is near (He lives inside you), His salvation is near to you–and He will deliver you and honor you if you ask.

Are you ready to pray for help from the Lord? Pray something like this:

… But make your own words as needed, to reflect your own heart and situation, of course …

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Father God, before I even get started pouring out my heart to You, I first confess that I don’t know how to pray as I ought, or how to offer it worthily as I ought.

Therefore, in Jesus’ name, I humbly ask that Your Holy Spirit would pray through me and for me right now, with moanings and groanings that cannot be uttered (see Romans 8); and that You Who search the hearts would know what the mind of the Spirit is, for He makes intercession for me according to Your Own will.

And please, Abba, pour out Your Spirit of grace and supplication on me right now. Help me pray as is pleasing to You. Thank You, Abba Father, in Jesus’ name.

O Lord God, I love You so very much.

Thank You for being my God. Thank You for filling me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for forgiving my sins and drawing me to Yourself.

I praise You, Abba Father, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know it! I am eternally blessed to have You as my Father, and Jesus as my Savior and Brother; and to have Your Spirit living inside me. Thank You; I give You all the praise.

But oh, Abba Father, I sure need You right now.

I need Your help, and Your strength, and Your grace. For You see what is going on in my life; You see and know the pain I am in, as well as the need, the frustration, the disappointment, and the desperation. You know (insert the specifics of your own need here) .

But Father, You are the Solution to all my problems. You are the Answer to every need that I have. I thank You for that.

And Abba, because You are an all-powerful God, and because all the cattle on a thousand hills are Yours, and because You have ordained my every step–after all, You have made me the righteousness of God in Christ, and Your Word says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord–then I call upon You for mercy today, Lord.

O Lord God of hosts, grant me Your mercy today, I pray, in Jesus’ name.

Show me Your mercy, Lord, and grant me Your salvation. Move today on my behalf with Your strong hand and outstretched arm, I pray. Let visible results come forth now, for You and You only are my God; I can do nothing without You; and I wait on You all day long.

O Lord, please speak to me about this situation.

Help me to hear what You are saying. Please instruct me and teach me in the way I should go, and guide me with Your eye upon me (per Psalm 32:8). And I pray in Jesus’ name that You would speak peace to me, for my heart needs to hear Your words of peace and comfort; and Your Word also creates, for You speak and it is done.

Thank You, Abba Father, for speaking peace to me, Your child.

And Lord, as You speak, I pray in Jesus’ name that You would help me to follow You, and to obey You, in all things. Please don’t let me turn back to folly; let there be no folly in my life at all, but only wisdom from above–from You, Lord. Fill me with Your Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, and help me to walk on the plain and even path that You have laid out for me, in Jesus’ name.

O Lord God, thank You that Your salvation is near.

Your Word says that Your salvation is near to those who fear You, and I do fear You. I love You and want to do only what You desire me to do. I want to please You in everything, Lord; please help me to do that, and please keep me from sinning against You.

Since I do fear You, Lord, and since Your salvation is near to those who fear You, then I know that Your help is on its way to me. Your assistance is for me, and it’s a good thing; for I can do nothing without You.

Thank You for saving me from this situation, Lord. Thank You for meeting all my needs, and thank You for working all things out for my good; for I love You, and I am called according to Your purpose.

Abba, Your Word says that glory will dwell in my land when You bring me Your salvation.

Therefore, Father, I do ask You for that today:

• Let Your glory (which is defined as Your weight, splendor, and copiousness or abundance) dwell in my land today.
• Let me be a carrier of Your glory.
• Let people see Your glory on me, I pray; let it reflect on my face to all who are around me.
• And let everything about my life bring glory to Your name, including my words, decisions, heart, attitude, emotions, thoughts, motives, actions, and intentions of every kind.
• Let all of it be pleasing and acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, for You are my Strength and my Redeemer; and all glory in Heaven and earth belongs to You.

Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You for showing me Your mercy, and for granting me Your salvation:

• Please let all of Your provision for my need come forth today.
• Let every need be met in abundance.
• Let every victory be manifest quickly and suddenly today, I pray, in Jesus’ name.
• And let Your glory cover it all and bring many people to Yourself, for You are great, and greatly to be praised.

Thank You, Holy Father. I love You and give You all the praise for helping me. You have never let me down, and You never will; for great is Your mercy toward me, and Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

I give You glory and honor and praise. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen and amen.”
