Prayer to Come Forth Shining Like Gold

Are you being tested beyond what it feels like you can bear? If so, this prayer to come forth shining like gold is for you today.

This prayer to come forth shining like gold is extremely personal to me right now.

Why? Because, like you, I also feel like I am being tested beyond what I can bear. To be real, I’ve been in such a rough place that I didn’t even realize it was a test. For example:

• I’ve been hearing lies from the enemy, but I didn’t realize they were lies because they were Scriptures–but not Scriptures that take the mercy and grace of God into consideration, in proper context.
• My burdens are so heavy right now that I feel crushed in my heart and my spirit.
• Even though I know Jesus is my Hope, I don’t “feel” hope right now.
• At the moment I’m writing this, I “feel” like I’ve lost my courage.
• And I’ve been “feeling” like God is done with me, but I’ve had to work really hard to push off that lie (which doesn’t align with Scripture), and to think only on the truth of God’s Word, even though I feel hurt and broken.

These are all only feelings, and not truth.

But, they have to be dealt with and subjected to Jesus, taken into captivity to the obedience of Christ–because these feelings are still very real, even though they aren’t true. And feelings do impact us, so we need Jesus to heal our feelings as we renew our minds with His TRUTH from His Word.

As it says in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5:

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

We must CAST DOWN arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ, which my “feelings” do right now. And we have to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, no matter how we feel.

As I was praying about these things, asking the Lord for His help, I asked Him why He was letting me go through these struggles.

This place is very unusual for me (but it’s where I am in this moment), and it hurts, and I *feel* (again, not the truth, but a feeling) like God hasn’t been helping me much. I asked Him about this.

And the Lord said:

“I’m not punishing you. I’m testing you.”

Here’s the funny thing:

I often ask the Lord to discipline me and correct me however He needs to, in order to keep me on the straight and narrow path. I beg and implore Him to keep me from sinning against Him, and to change my heart to make me like Jesus.

So when the Lord said He was allowing me to be tested, I was quite relieved because that’s something I actually want.

But of course, whenever there is a test, you have an opportunity to either pass or fail. And so when I hear about a test, my gut reaction is to immediately beg the Lord to give me grace and strength, and to help me pass.

I want to pass every test and never fail a test. Don’t you?

I want to be faithful to Him, no matter what. And I want to adhere to the truth of God’s Word in all my actions, decisions, words, and thoughts, no matter how I “feel” on any given day.

After all, He is the Refiner. He has the right to test me (and all of us) in His fire at any time He choses. His refining fire gets the dross off us; it purifies us and makes us holy, rendering us more like Jesus than we were before. This is a good and desirable thing.

So, as I prayed through this, the following plea welled up in my heart toward the Lord:

“Lord, please help me come forth shining like gold.”

This prayer is from Job 23:10, which says:

“But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10 NKJV).

And even though the testing isn’t fun, isn’t the main point to pass the test, become more pure and holy like Jesus, and move on into a greater level of intimacy with Christ? Don’t we all want to leave this current season (whether the current season is good or bad), and move forward into the a greater level of joy, peace, power, fresh anointing, fresh fire, and the blessing of the Lord?

I know I do. I believe you do too, or you wouldn’t be reading this article today.

If you’re being tested in the Refiner’s fire right now, do you also want to pass the test and come forth shining like gold?

If so, God will help us when we pray. But, we do have to pray and ask Him. 🙂 So, let’s pray together as follows:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name.

Father God, I confess that I don’t know what to pray for as I ought, or how to offer it worthily as I ought. So please, let Holy Spirit pray through me and for me right now with moanings and groanings which cannot be uttered, and I pray that You who search the hearts would know what the mind of the Spirit is, for He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Thank You, Abba Father.

Holy Father, in Jesus’ name, I first want to thank You for testing me and refining me.

Even though I didn’t know Your testing process would feel like this, I did ask You to change me and make me like Jesus. I have asked You so many times to draw me nearer to Yourself.

You are answering my prayer, Father, even though You’re doing it in a way I would not have chosen. Nevertheless, I thank You anyway for hearing and answering my prayer.

Father, I praise You for loving me and knowing me. You have taken the time in every moment of every day to stoop down low and hear me; to care for me and love me. Thank You for that. Thank You also for saving me, and for filling me with Your Holy Spirit. I praise You for Your kindness and goodness toward me. Thank You for Your generosity toward me.

But Father, I need Your help right now.

You are testing me, Father. But I can’t bear the test alone.

Please, Abba. Please help me:

• Give me grace, grace, and more grace in this season.
• Keep me as the apple of Your eye and hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
• Help me to pass the test.
• Keep me from sinning against You in any way, and keep me from running away from Your testing and refining process.
• Tie me to the altar if You have to, Father, but please continue to do Your good work in my life.

But Father, above all else, I ask that this test would not be futile. I humbly ask in Jesus’ name that You would help me to PASS this test.

And Father, in Jesus’ name, please help me to come forth shining like gold:

• Help me to pass this test with flying colors.
• When the time is right and You are finished testing me in this area, please bring me out of this season of testing, discouragement, and travail, and bring me into a season of blessing, hope, courage, and abundance of every good thing.
• Please encourage me even during this test.
• Please restore my hope. Fill me with hope again, anew and afresh.
• Please give me the will to go on.
• Please help me to desire You above all things, even more than I desire pain relief for my heart, soul, and spirit.
• If I have to suffer in the fire of adversity, please help me to suffer gloriously and righteously, as is pleasing to You, and to bring glory to Your name.
• During this test, please help me to set my mind and keep it set on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
• Help me not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove what is Your good, acceptable, and perfect will for me and everything that concerns me.
• Please help me to wait on You and to not be ashamed.
• Keep me, protect me, and provide for me, for Your Word says that they who wait on the Lord shall not be put to shame.

Father, please help me to come forth from this test shining like gold.

Only You could do that for me, for I don’t even feel like I have the will to go on and keep believing in this moment, let alone for any extended period of time. However, You are my Glory, and the Lifter of my head. Please fill me with Your glory today. Please show Yourself to me as the Lifter of my head; the Restorer of my place of authority.

Please help me, Father.

You go ahead and test me in whatever way You see fit, for I belong to You and You can do as You please. I know You are a good Father, and You are always kind and loving. Therefore, if You deem this testing season to be what is best for me, then I am in Your hands and I submit to You.

You are My perfect Shepherd, and You will lead me by the way I should go.

However, Father, please help me get through it. I do need Your help to survive this testing season. Please help me, keep me, encourage me, and sustain me, for Your Son Jesus is the Author and the Finisher of my faith. Please refine me all You need to in Your testing fire. But, when You are finished, please help me come forth shining like gold.

Thank You, Abba Father. Please comfort me today and help me to endure. Help me to persevere in You, and keep me safe from all the wiles of the enemy.

Thank You, Jesus, Abba Father, and Holy Spirit. I give You all the praise. In Jesus’ holy and precious name, amen and amen.”
