“The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” Jeremiah 31:3 NKJV
Do you have a person that you love to be with? Maybe a spouse, or your best friend, or other family members?
If so, think about the person you love to be with. You know how you reach out to that person? How you enjoy the fun of just being with them? Just spending time with them is special because you love them so much.

Well, that’s how God feels about you.
Spending time with you is God’s thing. He LOVES it. He thinks you’re the best time on the planet.
So He spends all His time with you.
(Not kidding. He really does.)
Scripture tells us that God is with you everywhere, all the time, no matter what. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20, “…I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
That doesn’t mean He’s thinking about you from a far, distant place. No, it means He’s actually, geographically WITH you.
In the exact space where you are. He’s there with you, right now. Whether you’re sitting down, watching TV, riding in a car, or at your office. He is literally with you RIGHT NOW.
Check out how Psalm 139:7-10 explains it:
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me” (emphasis mine).
So have you ever been lonely?
I know I have. Lots of times. But no matter where you are, or how you might feel, God is with you. Being with you is Who He is. It’s actually His nature, and He can’t help Himself. He is everywhere, all the time.
Our God loves to be with you so much that He even named His own Son in honor of His quality time with us. The Bible says, ““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23 NKJV).
God loves you, and He is with you every second of your life. He’s just that into you.
Stop to ponder this for a moment. Are you lonely right now? God is with you. Not in a distant, intellectual way. He is actually standing right next to you, right now. All of His attention is on you.
God Himself is the Companion you’ve been wishing for. He wants to comfort you and meet all your needs. He wants to be that Most Special, Most Intimate, Best Friend that you’ve always dreamed of.
You are not alone. You’ll never be alone. He is with you all the time, spending time with you.
This is what God’s love feels like. Close your eyes. Ask Him to help you feel His companionship. He is with you and will never leave you.
Hebrews 13:5 says:
For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'”
God is all over you. He’s with you all the time. Sit down quietly and just feel Him loving on you. Feel His presence.
This is what His love feels like.

As I shared in the first post in the “How to Feel Like God Loves You” series, the truths I am writing about in this series are things God showed me after I read a book entitled The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts (see my review here) by Gary Chapman. I highly recommend that book!

I have never been able to feel God’s presence and I don’t know how to get to that place. For years people have asked me if I felt it in church or elsewhere, everyone else was feeling it, why not me?
I think it’s in the little things.. He’s not big and loud but more of a gentle nudge or a whisper or the goosbumps you feel when you read/hear a bible verse… Trust me I have had true moments where I knew He was standing right beside me and other times, like now, where I am struggling to feel not necessarily His presence, but His love
Seek him with all your heart like hidden treasure. You will find him.
Jamie, your posts are an inspiration to me. Thank you for your posts, your help, and your heart. God uses you to heal a lot of my moms pain, and she talks about you a lot. This is my 2nd time on your site and i loved you from the beginning. Seeing someone else be healed from their pain gives me hope I will be, too, and he gives you great knowledge about how to conquer your fears, and that they come in all shapes and sizes. I love you and appreciate all you do for my mom but also me, you’re encouragement and i pray you never stop encouraging. You’ll see me on here! Thanks again.
i was praising God in church this morning,, i felt something on my side of my stomach, i thought my Daughter touch me. it felt like a finger pressed in me just lightly.
I really needed this today, I’ve been feelng so lonely since my fiancé died and my best friends moved away, even when I’ve been with people I’ve been feeling so lonely somehow. I’ve always known that God is with me, but that was head knowledge and not by experience. Thank you so much for this series, I have been very very blessed by it.

Dolores, I am in the same boat as you. I will be praying for you, just as I pray for myself. 🙂
I love you through Jesus’ love amen.
Even though I have been such a long time Christian, I am learning how to relate to God.
This helps. I have been a very “head” person. I am learning to be more heart, more relational with God.
I’ve felt so far from God, so many things around me causing me to feel so alone and even when i pray, i feel nothing. But thank you for this encouragement.
