If you've ever been through hell, you're qualified to be a spiritual warlord. Here's how! |Post #3 in the Warlord series by Jamie Rohrbaugh | FromHisPresence.comHave you ever been through anything horrible? If so, I’ve got good news for you today: if you’ve been through proverbial hell, you’re qualified to be a spiritual warlord.

Why? Because warlords walk in power. But that doesn’t mean they always walked in power their whole lives. Warlords have been THROUGH stuff to get to where they are.

Revelation 12:11 tells us where spiritual warlords get their overcoming power:

Start-quoteAnd they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

They overcame by the blood of the Lamb. We all have that if we have made Jesus Christ the Boss of our lives. But they also overcame by the word of their testimony.

And how do you get a testimony? You get tested.

People that have a testimony have been through stuff. And I would venture to say that we have all been through stuff.

Even if you were born and raised in a perfect life, and your life has been perfect ever since (which doesn’t describe me, but I’m happy for you if it’s you), if you have made Jesus Christ the Boss of your life, YOU HAVE A TESTIMONY…

    • Once you were not God’s child, but now you are.
    • Once you were living a life of sin, but now you’re not.
    • Once you were destined to split open the doors of hell, but now you’re destined for eternal life with Christ Jesus.

I know that’s my testimony. As Ray Hughes says, “The gates of hell slammed shut on my nose.” I was lost in sin, but one day in 2001, Jesus Christ forgave my sin, gave me eternal life, and God made me His child.

That’s my testimony. Part of it. This whole blog contains story after story of other parts of my testimony.

    What’s your testimony?

Your testimony is your weapon as a spiritual warlord. Because in order to make war, you’ve got to walk in authority. And you get that authority by going through stuff and coming out victorious on the other side.

You’ve got to know who you are and know Who your God is. And sometimes that takes some blood, sweat, and tears on your part. You have to go through.

    YOU have to go through.

That means it won’t always get handed to you on a silver platter. Your victory and your testimony come at a price:

    • YOU have to persevere, even when it’s hard.
    • YOU have to get alone with God, get in His Word, and dig for truth yourself.
    • YOU have to develop your own prayer life.

And you can’t expect to get everything in a prayer line, either.

When I was a younger believer and going through so much deliverance and healing, I would wonder why everybody else always seemed to get delivered in a prayer line, but I rarely did. I always had to go THROUGH stuff to get healed.

Oh, I received some great prayer and ministry from my pastors during that time, but for the most part, I had to go THROUGH stuff. I felt gypped. I thought it wasn’t fair. I felt like I was a second-class citizen in the Kingdom.

But having to seek God (and healing, and deliverance) for myself was the best thing that could ever have happened to me, and it’s good for you too.

Why? Because when God allowed me to dig in the Word for truth and healing, He gave me the gift of LASTING revelation. Having to seek Him in prayer and Bible study FOR MYSELF gave me revelation that changed my life. He gave me something weighty and powerful.

And now, years later, I can effectively minister to others–all because I have something to impart. I have authority and understanding in the things I had to go through, and I can now teach others those things that I had to mine out of God’s Word for myself. (Turns out, I wasn’t a second-class citizen after all. God had something better in mind the whole time.)

God has something awesome in mind for you too, no matter what you’re going through.

    Revelation 19:10b says:

Start-quote…For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

When you have a testimony about something Jesus has done for you, and you tell others about that testimony, it becomes a prophecy in other people’s lives. Your testimony actually releases the victory you won into somebody else’s life.

That’s why your testimony is your weapon as a spiritual warlord.

Want to be a spiritual warlord? Go through stuff, and get victory. Get a testimony.

Dig out truth from God’s Word for yourself, so that it’s a real revelation that grips your heart. Then you will walk in authority in that area, and you will have something to impart.

If you go through stuff and do what it takes to win the victory, then your footsteps will develop weight in the spirit realm.

When you arrive on the battlefield, things will change quickly. You’ll know who you are and Who your God is. Your testimony will be a mighty weapon that releases the same victory you won for yourself into the lives of others.

Do what it takes to get victory over whatever you’re struggling with, and you’ll be able to pass it on.

No matter what you’re going through right now, God will get you through. Every secret to every victory is contained in His Word. Press into God. Dig into His Word. You WILL come out the other side.

Are you experiencing sickness? Get healed, so you can pass it on.

Dig into God’s Word about healing and get a revelation of it for yourself, so you’ll know that you know that you know God heals because He healed you. Then you’ll be able to have the faith to pray in faith for others.

Do you have sin and demonic strongholds in your life? Get delivered, so you can pass it on.

If you go through deliverance yourself, someday you’ll be able to help other people that need to get delivered.

Yes, it’s going to take effort on your part. You have to care about freedom enough to go through the deliverance process. Going through my church’s 7 Steps To Freedom In Christ deliverance program was one of the best things I ever did—but I had to invest in my own deliverance to get free.

Are you struggling with doubt, discouragement, or depression?

Dig into the Word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The Word of God will heal you. The Word of God will set you free. It will renew your mind and give you God’s faith-filled, hope-filled perspective on everything.

I struggled with doubt, discouragement, and depression for many years. But God’s Word healed me. It wasn’t the preaching of the Word that healed me, though. No; I got healed through years of digging in the Word myself, alone with God at 4 AM, reading and praying and crying out to God for help.

But it was worth it. It’s all been worth it, and it will be worth it to you too.

O warlord, your story is not wasted. Jesus Christ paid the price for you to be healed, delivered, and set free in every area. He said that if you will believe Him and walk in what He has purchased for you, you will have victory in every area of your life. And after you have the victory, you have a testimony that you can use to impart the same victory you won to others.

The things you’ve been through are your weapons. Your testimony is your weapon. Your breakthrough, your perseverance, your healing, your deliverance are your weapons.

God never wastes a testimony. And now that you’ve been through something, you can use your testimony of Jesus to wage war as the spiritual warlord you’re called to be.

Warlord and Warlock are names used by the magicians who practice the dark arts.
God is love and is NEVER about war…

      1. Hi, Winyan. Thanks for reading my blog.
To clarify: No one has used the word “warlock.” I agree with you that that describes someone who is bound up in evil. However, “warlord” is simply a person who is in charge of troops–generally a victorious leader. Winston Churchill, the great Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II, was called a warlord. And Jesus Himself is definitely a Man of war. He said in Matthew 10:34: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.”

God throughout Scripture has revealed Himself both as a Man of War and the Prince of Peace. In Christ, the two are not disparate. He goes forth conquering for the sake of righteousness, bringing peace only after wickedness is conquered. He is the Lord of Hosts, Jehovah Sabaoth–the God of angel armies and the Chieftain over all human armies too–whether those armies like it or not. 🙂

Hope this helps to clarify the purpose of this article. Blessings to you today. Thanks for reading my blog!

I have to admit…today’s modern use of the word War Lord usually means what you said.
Long ago and sometimes even now though…it also means someone who headed the efforts of war….and often were the cause… so that is why I included it as not being so good…

    2. I am actually going through something that requires healing and deliverance. I know I will need to pass through, how to attain what Christ’s death burial and resurrection got for me is the issue. This has been going on for too long. It has to end now. Need to transform into a warlord. It is well with my soul. Thank you for the word of encouragement.

    3. Thanks Jamie this is a word for me, I have suffered almost 3 years of emotional abuse by people I thought I could trust but God has seen me through it all, he has seen my tears and heartache, and now he has enabled me to move into a beautiful home, its temporary but I know I will be given a permanent home in Jesus name
