Beloved, are you exhausted beyond belief? Are you yearning for peace and quiet, solitude, rest, and relaxation–yet the demands of day-to-day life keep hitting you, coming at you like bugs at a windshield, without reprieve? If so, today’s Bible promise is going to speak to you–because those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength!
Our key Scripture passage today is Isaiah 40:27-31, which says:
“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God’?
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:27-31 NKJV).
Let’s look at the encouraging keys from this passage line by line:

Key 1: Even when you feel forgotten, you aren’t forgotten. And even when you feel passed over, you aren’t passed over.
We see this in Isaiah 40:27, which states:
“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God’?” (Isaiah 40:27 NKJV).
In this world, it’s so easy to feel forgotten about–both by people and by God. For example:
- When it looks like God doesn’t answer your prayers …
- When God takes His own sweet time to move in your life …
- When His Word says you have the thing you’ve asked for, but you sure don’t see it yet on earth …
… it’s easy to feel passed over. It’s easy to ask, “God, where are You?” And it’s also easy to wonder, “God, why are You doing these things for everybody else, blessing everybody else with opportunities and surprises and money and blessings, and even answering MY prayers for them–but You’re not doing any of these things for me, even though I’ve been asking You to?”
Sound familiar? You’re not alone if so.

However, in Isaiah 40:27, the Lord asks us why we do these things.
Why do we believe He has passed us by? He would never do that. And if we wait on Him, paying total attention to Him and keeping our eyes on Jesus, He will strengthen us to persevere in the faith–and we will eventually receive in visible form the things we’ve been asking Him to do for us or give us.
As it says in Galatians 6:9:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9 NKJV).
So no matter how long it has been, beloved, remember this: you have not been passed over or passed by. God has not forgotten you. Hang in there, for you will surely reap, if you do not lose heart!
Key 2: God will give you power and strength today.
One of the most amazing things about God is that He gives us whatever He has. For example:
- He had only ONE Son–Jesus–and He gave Him to us, to die for our sins and purchase eternal life for us.
- He has a Kingdom, where everything is filled with righteousness, peace, joy, and power–and it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. (See Luke 12:32.)
- And He has all power, strength, wisdom, and understanding–but He freely shares those things with us when we ask.
Well, if you need strength and power to go on living today, let alone to get anything accomplished, Isaiah 40:28-29 is the promise for you. It says this:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:28-29 NKJV).
Did you catch that? He gives power to the weak.

Beloved, if you are weak today, God will give you power.
And if you have no might–if you feel weak as a feather, limp as a dishrag–He will give you STRENGTH. Whether you need strength and power physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, financially, or in any other way, He’s got it and He will give you His strength and power right now.
Yes: by waiting on the Lord, you can and will receive both power and strength in your body, soul, and spirit. That’s good news today, friend! And, just a reminder: don’t kid yourself; we ALL need these things from the Lord! After all, we can do nothing without Jesus. But, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
As we read in John 15 and Philippians 4:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV).
And also:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).
So don’t wait; turn your full attention to the Lord today; admit your frailty; and ask Him to give you both power and strength!
Key 3: The strength God gives will produce supernatural results.
Isaiah 40:30-31 says this:
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:30-31 NKJV).
This verse points out that everyone–both young and old alike–collapse without God’s help. It doesn’t matter if you’re young and strong or not; we all are completely dependent on Jesus.
However, if we will but wait on the Lord …
If we will seek Him first every day, as Jesus taught us to do in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).
And if we will pray, attend to Him, and seek His face, turning all of our attention to Him and devoting ourselves fully to Him …
… then you will find Him renewing your strength. We know that He does it because Jesus said “without Me you can do nothing,” but we also have a part in this–“those who wait on the Lord shall renew THEIR strength” (emphasis mine)–because WE have to do the seeking, and the waiting on the Lord.
But when you wait on the Lord, you renew your strength because God will GIVE you strength.
And when God gives you strength, supernatural things happen:

- You will mount up with wings like eagles. This means you will supernaturally ascend and go higher, and it will feel easy.
- You shall run and not be weary. I don’t know about you, but every time I run, I get tired. I have run/walked a couple of half-marathons and several other road races, and I was exhausted at the end of every one. Even a daily workout makes me tired, despite the fact that the workout is worth the fatigue. But when you wait on the Lord, you shall run and not be weary. You’ll just go faster and farther, and it won’t bother you a bit.
- You shall walk and not faint. Even when you take things at a normal, slow speed, you’ll have supernatural strength and perseverance to keep at it as long as you need to.
Beloved, those are the kinds of results that only God can give.
And those results are for you today, if only you will wait on the Lord.
So let’s review today’s whole Bible promise one more time:
Beloved, God has not forgotten you or passed you over.
He is with you right now to give you power and strength. He sees your weakness and frailty, and He is ready and willing to make up for it by giving you His own strength and resources in every way.
And if you will wait on Him, asking Him to strengthen you and to give you His power and strength, you will see supernatural results happening in your life.

Praise God! I usually don’t get to respond this quickly, but this time I have too. This post with the supporting scriptures along with two other scriptures I have come across this morning (Isaiah 25:9 and Isaiah 41:10) shows me how much God is with me and is working on my situation even though I haven’t seen the changes on earth yet.
