In this simple prayer series, I am sharing one Scripture verse or passage each day. I will also add bullet-point prayer directives you can use to pray through that Scripture. I won’t be writing out actual prayers, though; I feel the Lord wants you to exercise your prayer muscles by talking to Him right out of your heart!
Today, Day 18 of breakthrough prayer, we are calling upon the Lord as the Helper of the fatherless.
Psalm 10:14 says:
“But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless” (Psalm 10:14).
Friend, even if you have a biological father who is part of your life, this passage is still for you.
You may or may not have a dad on earth who loves you and is part of your life. But beloved, whether you do or don’t, I don’t want you to miss the beauty of this Scripture.
In this passage, we first have the Lord telling us that He has seen all your trouble.
He has seen everything you have ever been through. He knows your pain and has seen every tear. He has not forgotten you, and He has not forsaken you! HE SEES YOU!
And beloved, He is the One who observes trouble and grief–to repay it by His hand. Our God is a God who avenges you. He is a good, good Father who doesn’t tolerate His babies being messed with.
Beloved, God wants to repay you with double honor, double reward, and double recompense for what you have endured.
And He will always take vengeance upon the enemy for what the enemy has done to you. It’s who He is. He is a fair and just God; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. As He has written:
“‘Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them'” (Deuteronomy 32:35).
And:
“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).
So again, looking that Scripture in Psalm 10:14:
“But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless” (Psalm 10:14).
Friend, if you are helpless today–or even if you need help that goes beyond what any human could do for you–then God will be your Helper.
Beloved, we all qualify as “helpless.” Jesus said in John 15:5 that we are each helpless without Him:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
And so we can and should each commit ourselves to Him.
Furthermore, without Him, we are all fatherless in some way.
Oh beloved, you might have the best dad on earth; but, even if you do, your dad is only human. There are limits to what he can do for you. He cannot help you with everything. And when you reach the end of what your earthly dad can do for you, but you still have needs, that is when you see yourself as truly fatherless except for your Heavenly Father.
Or maybe you had a great dad, but your father has passed away. In that case, still, you are fatherless but for your Heavenly Father.
Or maybe, like the majority of humans alive, you might not have received the best fathering–or any fathering–from your earthly dad. In that case, it’s probably pretty easy for you to view yourself as fatherless except for our Heavenly Father.
Do you ever wonder why God allows you to suffer?
If so, Jamie’s audio MP3, Understand Your Suffering, is for you. In this 49-minute teaching, Jamie teaches what she learned during her personal story of extreme pain. You will learn:
- How to look at suffering through the eyes of God.
- The Father’s purpose for suffering; and
- The truth from God’s Word about why a good God sometimes allows us to suffer.
If you’re suffering, God has a purpose for your pain.
Listen to this powerful message, and receive hope that, one day, you will look back and say, “I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
Oh beloved, no matter what your situation is with an earthly dad, we would ALL be fatherless in some way were it not for our Heavenly Father.
This puts us all on equal footing: needy, dependent, and crying out for our Daddy God–the One who made Heaven and earth, the seas, and all that in them is. He is the One who loved you and me so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us. And the One who is with you, right now, to comfort you.
This God–our good, good Heavenly Father–observes your trouble and grief, to repay it by His hand. You can admit you are helpless, and commit yourself to Him. You can admit you are fatherless except for Him, for no man–not even the best human daddy–can ever truly fill the Father-sized hole in your heart, soul, and spirit.
You were made, fashioned, and created for your Father-need to be truly filled only by your Heavenly Father.
And beloved, He is with you today. God loves you. He has a good plan for your life. He is with you to take care of you. He is with you to shower you with love; to hold you close; to protect you; to love you; to comfort you; to shield you and shelter you. He is with you to perfect everything that concerns you.
And He is your Helper right now.
Beloved, are you ready to pray for the Lord to be your Helper and repay your trouble and grief?
Pray through these breakthrough prayer points with me today:
- Tell the Father that you come before Him in Jesus’ name.
- Thank Him for seeing you.
- Thank Him for observing your trouble and grief; that your situation has not gone unnoticed.
- Thank Him that He is the God of justice; vengeance and mercy belong to Him.
- Praise Him for His holiness and for the fact that He cannot change! What He has always been, He will still be to you today!
- Ask the Father today, in Jesus’ name, to repay all your trouble and grief by His hand.
- Ask Him to be the Sheriff in town, and to go out and force the devil to pay back to you everything he has stolen from you–seven times over.
- Pray and ask the Lord to give you DOUBLE portion, double reward, and double recompense for everything you have endured.
- Admit to the Lord that you are helpless without Him. Without Him, you can do nothing.
- Commit yourself into His hands today. Tell Him that you receive Him as your Father, and that you choose to rest in His hands.
- Commit every situation that concerns you to Him.
- Admit to Him that you are truly, in your deepest heart of hearts, fatherless without Him. Only He can fill the truest Father-need inside of you.
- Tell Him that, since He is your True and Only real Father, you are throwing yourself upon His mercy and asking Him to perform all the duties of a father for you.
- Ask Him to take care of you completely, and thank Him–for you know that He will.
- Ask Him to help you in every way that a father should.
- Thank Him for giving you love, identity, protection, provision, and promotion, for those are the beginnings of the duties of a father.
- Call on Him and ask Him to do everything else that comes to your mind that a father should do for you!
- Ask Him to help you sense His love and affection today.
- Pray that He would fill you with His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of adoption, today, and that your heart would cry out “Abba! Father!” in total bliss, as His Word promises.
- Thank Him for hearing and answering your prayer, and give Him all the praise!
Dear friend, our God is your Father who loves you.
And He will take care of you, provide for you, fill you with His love, and help you in all the ways a father should today. He is your True and Only Father, and He is with you to comfort you.

Amen, Amen and Amen: YHVH is my shepherd – I’ve been lacking nothing. He feeds me on His green pastures, and leads me to still waters. It is Him Shomer daleth Israel (El Shadday) who cleanses, quickens and elevates my nephesh into yechidah. It is Him alone who is able to navigate me along the narrow way He commanded me for His Name’s sake.
Be blessed Adonay! For even if I pass the valley of the shadow of death, I do not need fear evil for You are with me and for me. Your royal scepter and shepherd staff (thron) are warning, correcting and encouraging me. In the very presence of opposing forces you prepare a table for me and you anoint my head with the oil of your gladness and …I know NOW, that times of tribulations are drawing me closer to You. Thank you eternal Father, my beloved prince of peace for immersing me into your mindset of agape love, dunamis and soberness and into your heart-attitude: the mindset of Christ! Thank you Adonai, for blessing me so abundantly in order to bless fellow men!
Thank you Jamie for your inspiring teachings, God bless you, your ministry and your family.
May God bless you exceedingly and abundantly in Jesus name. Thank you so much Jamie for being a vessel for God and His Kingdom. I pray that you go from glory to glory. Tears have been streaming down my face as I was praying this because I was rejected by my biological father before my birth. My mom was advised to abort me but she refused to listen to this man’s mother who was her employer at this time and she raised me alone.I just love these prayers, they are really helping and equipping me to pray effective scripture based prayers. Glory to
God!!
