Hanging On By a Thread? Pray This

Beloved, do you feel like you are hanging on by a thread today? If so, this encouraging word and sample prayer are for you.

Before we get to the prayer, I want to encourage you.

One of my favorite Scriptures to pray when I am hanging on by a thread is this one:

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV).

O friend, it’s just a fact that life gets to be too much sometimes. We get depleted by the incessant demands that are placed upon us, and it can be very difficult at times to get the healing and refreshment you need for your soul when (proverbial) fires are burning and even well-meaning people are trying to get our attention.

Nevertheless, Jesus is your rest–and He wants to manifest Himself to you as your rest, refreshing, and replenishment. Look at what He tells us in Matthew 11:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV).

I know it’s hard to stop and just sit with Jesus when you’re so weary.

Even if you love the Lord with all your heart, you live in a fleshly body–and that fleshly body might not always want to cooperate with rest and refreshment. Your mind might be racing; everything is a distraction; and your body is so weary that all you want to do is sleep. I get it.

However, my beloved friend, I urge you to sit down and pour out your heart to Jesus anyway.

He is the only hope you have of moving forward and finding healing, because He is healing. He is rest and refreshment for your soul. He is Grace, Personified. And He is your only Hope of making it through the day–as well as your only Hope of coming out of this season in victory.

But Jesus WILL bring you through, beloved, if you will pour out your heart to Him and lean on Him.

Look at a few of His promises about this, in addition to the ones I already listed above:

“In the light of the king’s face is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain” (Proverbs 16:15 NKJV).

And also, Proverbs 4:18:

“But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18 NKJV).

And His name is a strong tower for you, right now today:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10 NKJV).

And He will fill you with His RIVERS of living water if you believe in Him:

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38 NKJV).

O my beloved friend, JESUS is the answer for your burnout and depletion.

JESUS is the River Who will flow through you to bring healing and refreshment to your soul. And His Holy Spirit is the One Who will do all that needs to be done through you today, if you will rest in Him and let Him do it.

As we read in Zechariah 4:6, it’s only by His Spirit that anything gets done anyway:

“So he answered and said to me: ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6 NKJV).

Therefore, my friend, you can rest in God today and let Him heal, restore, and strengthen your soul–and simultaneously allow Him to do all the work that needs to be done!

So, do you need God’s help today?

Do you need Him to heal, refresh, and restore you–as well as to move through you to accomplish all the things? Do you feel like you’re hanging on by a thread today, but you’re willing to let that thread be JESUS, and to let Him sustain you and bring you through to victory?

He will, if you will let Him–and if you will rest in Him, depending solely on Him! Hallelujah!

If you feel like you are hanging on by a thread, pray this:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Father, You are good, and Your mercy endures forever. Thank You for being so good and kind to Me. Thank You for always taking care of me, even when I feel like I’m in the worst times and the worst moments of my life. You have always sustained me and held me up, and I thank You and praise You for that.

Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, I implore You for Your help today.

I am not all right, Lord. I am tired and depleted; exhausted and undone. Things that are supposed to be working aren’t working, and things that aren’t supposed to be happening are happening. I am weary of it all, Lord, and I just wish I could get some rest.

But oh, my dear sweet Abba Father, You are my rest.

Jesus said that we should come unto Him when we are weary and heavy laden, and that He will give us rest. So, Father, I’m coming to You, and to Jesus, and to Your precious Holy Spirit today. And I’m asking, in Jesus’ mighty name, for the rest that You promised. Even more, Lord, I beg You:

• Hold me up today.
• Comfort me and strengthen me.
• Fill me up once again, anew and afresh, with Yourself, and with all that You are!
• Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, Your power, Your wisdom, and Your anointing, I pray, in Jesus’ name!
• Fill me with JOY once again–joy like I have not really experienced in a long time! Restore unto me the joy of my salvation, I pray, in Jesus’ name!
• Please, let Your name be a strong tower to me. Help me run into You and hide, staying hidden all day long, and help me to be safe there.
• Please shield me and protect me and defend me from all my troubles.
• Please provide for all my needs exceedingly abundantly above all I could ask or think or even imagine.
• Please heal, refresh, and replenish my weary soul today.
• I feel so depleted and burned out. Please rush through me with Your flood of living water, and make me be well-watered again.
• I pray that out of my belly would flow RIVERS of living water, this very day, and in this very moment!
• Fill my lungs with Your breath, and my bones and muscles and joints with Your strength.

O Abba Father, Your mercies are new every day.

So, I am crying out to You for mercy, Lord. I don’t have the luxury of quitting, no matter how badly my flesh wants to ‘throw in the towel.’ Instead, I must persevere.

Perseverance is what pleases You, my Lord and King, but I openly and readily admit that I cannot do it unless You help me. Please help me to persevere, Lord. I cannot do anything without You, and I certainly cannot survive this day or season or year unless You come up under me and do the surviving through me.

I’ve got nothing, Abba Father, but You are my Everything–and You are sufficient.

Your Word says that Your grace is sufficient for me, for Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Well, I’ve got a lot of weakness–but You’ve got a lot of strength.

So please, Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, let my weakness be a playground for Your grace today. Let Your grace run through me and everything that concerns me. Let Your glory come forth and rest upon me as I focus on You; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Glorify Your Own name in me today, I pray, Abba Father.

Let Jesus be made known through my life. Even in my weakness and utter dependence on you, I pray that You would be glorified, and that I would bear much fruit.

Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You, Lord Jesus. And thank You, precious Holy Spirit. I give You all the praise and glory, for You are worthy, and everything in Heaven and earth belongs to You.

In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name I pray, amen.”
