Day 8: 25 Tiny Prayers for Your Desperate Need

When you’re fasting and praying for breakthrough, and tremendous spiritual warfare happens, sometimes you can’t think deeply about things. Sometimes you can only breathe out prayers the same way you take a breath: because you have to do it quickly because you’re so desperate for spiritual air.

If you’re struggling with darkness, sadness, or discouragement right now during this fast, I felt led to write out just a few tiny, one-line prayers that might help you express your pain–and your need for divine help–to Jesus.

If you are fighting darkness and any of the prayers below apply to your situation, lift them up to the Father right now:

“In Jesus’ name …

1. “Father God, I feel like a worthless human being. Please help me to see myself from Your perspective.”
2. “Please help me to see everything else from Your perspective, too. Help me to hear Your voice clearly and see with Your eyes.”
3. “I feel like I’m failing at everything. Please turn things around and give me success.”
4. “All I see is darkness right now. Please fill me with the light of Your presence and give me hope.”
5. “Please help me to believe that Your blessings are for me too, not just for everyone else.”
6. “Please surprise me today with happy surprises.”
7. “Please provide for all my needs richly, not only meagerly.”
8. “Please help me to see the answers to my prayers today, in Jesus’ name.”
9. “Please show me signs that You’re working on my behalf.”
10. “Please give me margin back in my life in my schedule and in my finances.”
11. “Please teach me to count it all joy, no matter what I’m going through.”
12. “Help me to maintain a happy attitude full of faith in you, no matter how hopeless things look.”
13. “Please cast down every idol in my heart, and make me like You.”
14. “Please help me to give thanks in all things, and for all things–even for these troubles I’m going through.”
15. Pray this Scripture as your prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV).
16. “Please help me to please You, even in this storm.”
17. “Fill me with the fruit of the Spirit once again–especially love and joy and peace even in this situation.”
18. “Please work the greatest miracles for me, in me, and through me that I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
19. “Please do for me those things that eye has not seen, nor ear heard, that have not entered into the heart of man–but which You have prepared for me because I love You.”
20. “Please give me faith to believe, and strengthen my faith to believe You.”
21. “I’m calling on You, and asking You to answer me, and show me great and mighty things which I do not know.”
22. “Please give me favor right now, today, in everything I do.”
23. “Please reward me for seeking You–not because I deserve it, but because You said You would.”
24. “Please do for me, and pay back to me, everything I have done for others and given to others. Please.”
25. “Please help me to see Your goodness toward me, even in this situation. Help me to trust You, because You are worthy to be trusted.”

Friend, no matter what you’re going through, God sees you and loves you.

He knows what’s going on in your heart. He sees your pain and knows it. And He is working all things out for your good, according to Romans 8:28:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV).

I know things may be tough right now, but keep on breathing in and out. Keep on keeping on. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will see you through.
