10 Promises to Claim in 2026: January 9

Are you excited about 2026? I know I am. After the weariness and laboring of 2025–which was indeed a sunrise season, but a very slow sunrise season in many ways–I am eager to watch the Lord work in new ways in 2026 as we all move forward together with Him.

However, every specific move of God requires specific prayers, and I felt led to share 10 prayers for 2026 that I feel will be crucial to our journey of knowing God more, walking in His ways, and receiving all that He has for us.

Therefore, with no further ado, here are 10 prayers for 2026 that I encourage you to pray often throughout the year:

    (And I have written these prayers in no particular order.)

    Prayer 1: “Lord, deliver me from unholy pressure.”

    Do you feel pressure to perform, pressure to be good enough, pressure to get enough done? Of course, some degree of pressure in life is helpful and beneficial. However, I believe that the healthy level of pressure is much lower than we think.

    God wants us to rest in Him at all times, walking through our day listening to His instruction–and getting things done–while we still remain in a quiet state of trust and rest.

    Nevertheless, it’s easy to try to please people. It’s easy to want to always make progress, even if your body needs to rest today and progress ought to wait until tomorrow. And it’s easy to neither understand nor acknowledge that time is your friend, and that God can do in a heartbeat what it could take us years to accomplish in the flesh.

    In 2026, let’s all pray for discernment and wisdom in this area, shall we?

    Let’s ask the Lord to deliver us from any unholy pressure we put on ourselves, or any unholy pressure we feel from outside sources. Let’s ask Him to order our steps in His Word, for the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:

    “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand” (Psalm 37:23-24 NKJV).

    And let’s believe Him for daily, momentary, instantaneous guidance in every situation:

    “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you” (Psalm 32:8-9 NKJV).

    And if we live in the “now” and listen to His voice as we walk through the day, we can be done with people-pleasing and unholy performance and striving, learning to rest in His presence instead.

    How do you rest in God and reach your destiny at the same time?

    Prayer 2: “Lord, break me of any dopamine addiction in my life. Help me to truly rest in You, even when I’m sad.”

    A lot of the time, when we go through difficult seasons, we look for something to make us feel even temporarily better. Of course, obvious things like alcohol, drug use, pornography, and so on are common places people go for comfort–but I’m not even talking about those things. And yes, of course those things are bad, and God wants you to be free from all of them.

    But a more “vanilla” habit that we tend to get into at times is looking for our next dopamine hit by:

    • endlessly scrolling on social media (looking for some piece of good news);
    • shopping too much (since buying something gives us the rush of “killing it and dragging it home,” and ordering it online and then waiting for it to arrive builds anticipation, and actually receiving the thing is another hit of dopamine);
    • clinging to other people, looking for them to speak our love language to us, instead of going to God for comfort and satisfaction.

    There’s nothing wrong with joy and fun, but in 2026 I feel that the Lord wants us to learn to lay down our desperation for that jolt of dopamine/encouragement at His feet, and learn to receive real encouragement and fulfillment directly from Him at a whole new level.

    And yes, mature Christians, I’m looking at you too.

    Let’s all look at ourselves on this, and not just bypass it and say it must be for baby Christians or those who are in overt sin, “because we already get our fulfillment from God.”

    If we truly all did get every bit of our fulfillment from God, we’d all get a solid 8 hours’ sleep, not waiting up for anything vague and unspecific to happen that makes us feel good–and we’d all live a whole lot healthier.

    Prayer 3: “Lord, please let all the work I’ve sown into my life bring forth huge fruit and reward, in keeping with (and more than) how hard I have worked.”

    We underestimate the amount of time it takes to build our lives, and we tend to want reward and payoff too quickly. Nevertheless:

    • After a long time of seed-sowing, there DOES come a harvest.
    • After a long period of building the walls, there DOES come a time when the city prospers.
    • And after being faithful year after year after year, there DOES come a time of reward.

    In this season of 2026, I firmly believe that God wants to prosper you with REWARD.

    After all, look at Hebrews 11:6:

    “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV).

    And it’s time to ask God and believe Him for more reward, and more fruit, than ever before. And while you’re at it, believe Him for the plowman to overtake the reaper, and the reaper to overtake the plowman: for your harvest to pile up upon itself faster than you can even handle it or re-sow it. (See Amos 9:13.)

    Prayer 4: “Let the Lamb Who was slain receive the reward of His suffering.”

    “O Abba Father, let Jesus be glorified in my life.” That should be the heart cry of every single believer, always.

    Therefore, especially in 2026, I urge you to contend with the Lord about this until your whole being resounds with this cry.

    Why? Because, one day, there will be a reward ceremony in Heaven–and Jesus will receive the inheritance He died for. As it says in Isaiah 53:10-12:

    “Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities.

    Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:10-12 NKJV).

    He will see the fruit of the travail of His soul (as it says in the Amplified Classic version), and He will be satisfied. Why? Because:

    … will all be thrown at His feet, to be His inheritance and His portion and His spoils of war.

    I want to be part of that rewards ceremony; don’t you? Don’t you want your life to be fruitful and productive for eternal purposes–to bring Jesus glory, honor, and reward for all He has done for you?

    If you do, pray all year long: “Abba Father, in Jesus’ name, please: let the Lamb Who was slain receive the reward of His suffering through me, and in my life.”

    Prayer 5: “Lord, if I have any impure motives in anything, please clean them up.”

    The simple fact is that none of us knows our own heart. As the Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9:

    “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV).

    That’s why we each need God to search our heart daily. As David prayed in this heartfelt prayer from Psalm 139:23-24:

    “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV).

    The fact is that we go about our day doing good works, hopefully doing our best, but our actions might be tainted by things we never see. And we will never see those things unless Holy Spirit brings them to our attention.

    Therefore, we should pray daily that God will purify our motives if, in any way, we have gotten off track. Even kind deeds and spiritual-sounding activities can be done for the wrong reason, and only God can reveal it to us if our motives are impure. Ask Him to do this all year in 2026.

    Prayer 6: “Lord, move suddenly on my behalf.”

    In 2026, we each need to pray for “suddenlies” to happen. The word “suddenly” is all through the Bible:

    • Suddenly the Holy Spirit came into the upper room on the Day of Pentecost. (See Acts 2.)
    • Suddenly the cloud covered the tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord appeared. (See Numbers 16:42.)
    • Suddenly God spoke to Elijah when he was hiding in a cave in the wilderness. (See 1 Kings 19:13.)

    Suddenly is a common way God moves:

    • We wait and wait on Him;
    • We labor faithfully and diligently, even when we feel impatient (although of course the Bible tells us to wait patiently on Him);
    • We see no fruit and no results, sometimes for a long period of time;
    • And then suddenly God moves, and He does in one moment what we wished He had been doing gradually the whole time. (And He often does even more in that one moment than we ever imagined He could have been doing the whole time.)

    In 2026, pray for “suddenlies” to happen. Ask God to move suddenly on your behalf with His mighty hand and His outstretched arm. You have not because you ask not, and it’s time to ask for more, and for “suddenly.”

    Prayer 7: “Lord, bring me people to run with who have the same heart as I do, who carry it with the same passion I do.”

    It’s difficult when you have a huge passion for something, and your passion is anointed by God–but the people around you don’t get it. Even if they have great love for you and the best intentions, it’s hard when people don’t understand what drives you.

    When this happens, it’s important that we forgive those who have wronged us. But, we also each need people who understand our heart, our passion, and our anointing from God.

    In 2026, ask God to bring you people to run with for the Kingdom–people to labor alongside you, and alongside whom you will also labor–who are just as passionate as you are about the same passions God has given you.

    God gave you spiritual gifts, but He didn’t intend for you to operate in them alone.

    You need a tribe of like-minded co-laborers to push forward with in Kingdom zeal. But, we also need this personally. We each need personal, covenant friends–even if are not laboring with them in every way.

    And so, for that, we could insert a little bonus prayer here, prayer 7b:

    Prayer 7b: “Lord, bring me covenant friends who carry the same heart and spirit that You do–friends who will understand me.”

    Everybody needs covenant friends: friends who will be with you in thick and thin; friends that you don’t always have to do work with, but with whom you can just have fun. Of course, you might work with those people in whatever way (in the workplace, in ministry, serving at church, or whatever else) …

    … but too often, people have friends of convenience instead of covenant friends.

    “Friends of convenience” are people that you’re friends with because you stumble over them every day, or every week:

    • The people you see at church;
    • The people in the cubicle next to you at work;
    • The people you hang with in the gym.

    But, those friendships usually fade as soon as they are no longer convenient. When you leave that church, change jobs, or don’t seek them out in the gym, they don’t bother to make any effort themselves to keep up with you or maintain your closeness.

    On the other hand, covenant friends are very different.

    Covenant friends are:

    • people who “get you;”
    • people with whom you can kick up a conversation even if you haven’t seen them in a long time, and you never skip a beat;
    • people who know and understand and love the way you think and are;
    • people who see the best in you;
    • people who are loyal;
    • people who truly love you, who are not ashamed of you in any way, and who will give up other people for you if needed.

    When you have covenant friends and they walk into a room, it feels almost like another copy of yourself walked into the room. Not because they are similar in appearance, personality, or preferences … but because they carry the same spirit, and the same love, and they are united with you in the Lord.

    We all need friends like that, and only God can bring them to you. In 2026, ask Him to do just that.

    (And a little side note: be willing to walk away from spending time with people who aren’t that, when you invest and invest in friendship and it turns out to be one-sided. But, that’s another story for another day.)

    Prayer 8: “Lord, help me be proactive instead of overwhelmed.”

    What is the biggest thing in your life that overwhelms you? That area is something God wants to heal.

    Whether it’s:

    … any big area of life that overwhelms you quickly becomes a life-controlling issue. And it is God’s will for you to walk in freedom and prosperity, not stress and overwhelm.

    Therefore, in 2026, pray that the Lord will anoint you to “take the bull by the horns.” Ask Him to help you turn that area of your life into your most peaceful, most prosperous, and most fruitful part of your life–instead of the most stressful area of your life.

    Prayer 9: “Lord, align me with everything that is Your will–and deliver me from everything that is not.”

    We need to be scoot-able in the hands of God. If in any way we are not properly aligned with where He wants us to be, who He wants us to be with, or what He wants us to do, then we need to be humble and pliable enough to let Him “scoot” us over into His divine alignment.

    The problem is, sometimes we are too attached to where we are to let go of things. Therefore, we need to pray that God will “scoot” us, and that we will let Him do so, throughout 2026.

    Prayer 10: “Lord, let signs, wonders, and miracles be a hallmark of my life.”

    Beloved, you are called to walk in signs, wonders, and miracles. Look at what Jesus Himself instructed each of us to do in Matthew 10:8:

    Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8 NKJV).

    Friends, it’s time to stop being content with letting other people do the signs, wonders, and miracles. It’s time to seek God until that much of His power flows through YOU, and YOU are the one performing signs, wonders, and miracles yourself.

    We should each be crying out to God with every ounce of breath that is in us:

    God, I want to walk in signs, wonders, and miracles every day.”

    That is what Jesus did, and that is one of the many ways God used Him so powerfully. Look at what the Word says:

    Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people” (Matthew 9:35 NKJV).

    And:

    “… how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38 NKJV).

    And:

    “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8 NKJV).

    Friend, miracles are your portion. Signs and wonders are your inheritance.

    And God WANTS to use you in this way. He wants to use you; He wants to flow through you; He wants to work through you as His hands and feet; and He wants to work on your behalf with just as many signs, wonders, and miracles as He does through you–and more.

    But will you seek Him for this? Will you contend with Him for this? Will you really, really, really get serious about this until you SEE God working through you in this way every single day that you’re alive?

    2026 is your time, friend. It’s time to walk in the signs, wonders, and miracles that Jesus died to see accomplished on the earth–all for His glory, for the sake of His great name, and to bring many children to salvation in Himself.

    The year 2026 is a gateway year, my friend.

    In it, we are passing out of the sunrise and into the full light of day. Many things will be revealed. Many people will be commissioned. People will rise up into their full inheritance.
